IV (spoiler warning)
I never would have guessed that the tattooed man was cursed; from what he explained, nothing can harm him, so that must mean no matter what happens, it would be impossible to kill him, as it also appeared to be that he can heal himself from any injuries, which is what gave me the idea that this man was also a god.
It seems familiar that I was told about the god who is invulnerable to any injuries or magic by my father not too long before his passing a couple winters ago, but the question was, who could it be?
I do not recall the name of the cursed man, but I remember exactly who his parents were; the all father himself, Odin, and the aesir goddess, Frigg!
Never in a million winters would I have dreamt to be in the very presence of a god, the son of the all father, Odin; perhaps all of this was simply a dream state, and I was still asleep.
Once more, a silence filled the room, as I had to process the mans words, explaining to me that there was not a thing in all the nine realms that he could feel, from the soft warmth of alfheim, to the unbearable cold of the afterlife, helheim.
Was it wrong for me to say I felt bad? Not that I did anything wrong, or that there was anything i was capable of doing, but there is something i was certaint of; that I would be miserable living in a realm where no matter how badly I wanted to, I couldn't even feel the bitter cold I hated so much; I am not him, so I could only imagine how much he wishes to go back to how things were before.
I opened my lips, forming words from my mouth. "Somebody I knew told me who you were; you are the son of odin and frigg- am I wrong?" I thought that after my last question, I'd have nothing left to ask, but I wouldn't be satisfied til I know if he really is the son of the all father, which would help clear things up.
The man relaxed his shoulders after tensing them up after he had almost had it with me, and lost what slim patience he had, that I kept testing with my questions, not letting him leave so soon til I got my answers.
He hummed, pursing his lips. "That's what they all think..." He muttered to himself, proceeding to get to the point.
"You are right, I am the son of odin, but what many others seem to get wrong, is that my mother was never Frigg. My mother is the vanir goddess, Freya."
I was in shock. his mother was Freya?? I wouldn't be in so my be in so much shock if I didn't already know that the aesir and vanir gods are always butting heads, so it was a surprise to me that Odin himself would ever agree to having a child with Freya- you really do learn something new every day...
The man hummed in amusement by my reaction up in finding out that I was not only wrong for believing that his mother was Frigg, but two gods from different realms would find peace with each other; I doubt that it is still like that to this day, but even then, that's still incredible!
"I hope that now you have gotten what you've want; now I must be on my way.." The man stated with his rough mutter, which his words seemed to be a tad bit slow, which made him to sound like he's downed a gallon of alcoholic drinks- has he been drinking? Or was that even possible? Who knows, it is a question I will save for later, if I beer get the chance to meet him again.
"Of course." I dipped my head respectfully, allowing the man to leave, which I'd imagine he wouldn't want to waste another second here so he could avoid answering any other questions- which I could understand; if I were him, I probably wouldn't wanna stick around at someomes cabin, and having this person who you just met asking you personal questions you may or may not feel comfortable with asking; wait was I making him uncomfortable? Oh, how I sure hope not.
The man dipped his head as well, not saying another word before turning his back towards me, letting in the cold as soon as he opened the door.
He turned his head back around to me, his bright blue eyes shifted over to my injured body. "Do me a favor, and do not tell anyone else what I told you, miss; and also, be sure to be careful, that you don't injure yourself more than you already are." He made one last comment, stepping out of the cabin, shutting the door behind him.
Wow... A lot has happened today; not everyone can say that they were rescued from a draugr by the son of Odin, and Freya.
He asked me not to tell anyone else about what he told me, which I figured he'd be referring to his mom being Freya, not Frigg.
I had not a clue why he didn't want everyone to know, but I trust that he has his reasons.
In the meantime, I need to rest, and let my wounds heal.
I'd like to see him again, and if he wouldn't mind it, I'd ask plenty more questions.
Ayye sorry for this chapter being a bit short, but I wasn't entirely sure what all to write here.
Anyways yeah! Once again, I hope that you're enjoying the book as much as I am enjoying writing it :D
