Would you believe I didn't notice the amount of gas we had until we just came to a stop?

We had driven for an hour, no sign of anything for miles and suddenly we stopped. We slowed and came to an unpleasant halt.

"Why'd we stop?" Sean had been in the back, holding the girl as she slept. I bit back an annoyed groan as I slammed my fist into the horn, making him jolt in his spot.

"Mother fucker! We're out of gas! Ugh.. This is such a pain. What now? We're in the middle of no man's land!" I slammed the door open, not even giving a shit if I damaged the thing. I walked to the back, opening the trunk finding nothing but rope and other kidnapping necessities. I cursed myself for not being prepared enough and I kicked the bumper. I hissed in pain and angrily walked around in circles.

"Ugh. What now?! No phone. No gas. No food. We're gonna die out here!"

"Calm down. We can walk." Sean said as he pointed into the distance, "There's a cabin. Maybe there's food there."

He was right. In the distance we could see a cabin. It was also where the desert was changing into a greener looking place. I took many long deep breathes, calming myself as I looked up at the truck.

"She needs to wake up or something. Or can you carry her?"

"She's pretty light. I think I can carry her. She's out cold so I don't think she'll be waking up anytime soon." He said, suddenly getting quieter as he looked down at the hard ground beneath us. I cleared my throat and said, "Well, we should get going then. Let's grab anything we may need from the truck and go."

We searched the truck for a few moments, only finding a few things but wouldn't help us.

"A toaster? Why would you keep a toaster in a truck?" Sean asked.

"Maybe they're like me," I said grabbing the toaster from him. He raised an eyebrow then snorted, "Why? Do you like toast in the middle of your kidnappings?"

"Maybe they also like their pop tarts... Toasted~" Sean choked and I just laughed. His face had turned red, "We aren't still referring to that nickname which we said never to say again."

"Of course we are! I never said I'd stop using it!" I smirked, hugging the toaster slightly, "Maybe I'll draw a face on it and name it toaster."

"You're insane."

"And instead of throwing insults at you and saying I roasted you," I set the toaster down, "I'll instead say You just got toasted! Now go speak to the toaster!" I laughed as I pointed at the toaster; I could already imagine a messy smiley face being drawn on.

Hey. At least I cheered up. A few moments ago I had been ready to tear the truck apart with my bare hands. It probably wouldn't have worked anyway.

Sean picked the girl up, putting her over his shoulder, and we began walking. I would've blown the car up, bit I had no matches or lighters. Which made me sad since it would have been cool as fuck. But then again, Sean might have opposed the idea anyway.

We walked for what felt like eternity. It was actually quite cold out at night for being a desert, which made sense, but it still surprised me. My teeth chattered as we made our way in between hills and every once in awhile spotted a cactus plant. One looked like a man, but when I reached out to touch it, it yelped.

"Y/n? What the fuck?"

"Oh.. Sorry, Sean.. Thought you were a cactus.." He went quiet and stopped for a moment as he looked up at the sky. He squinted and let out a sigh, "Are you tired?"

"Pfft. No. I've got the energy of a-" I walk right into a wall, which surprised me and hurt, my nose scrunching up in pain. When did it even get there.

"Well, either way, we made it. So let's get inside. My shoulders are going numb." Sean walks inside, luckily no one was inside and didn't seem to have any sign of someone ever being there. The girl was put on one of the couches and then Sean dropped down next to her, yawning.

I think it took me that one moment after sitting down and stretching that I really was tired.

I can't believe I thought Sean was a cactus.. Well, he'd be a very handsome cactus if he were one. Maybe he'd like me more if he were a cactus with no feelings at all.

I blinked.

That's just sad. To think about liking a cactus. Spending two weeks held up in a cell can get to you, I guess.

We sat there in silence and soon, snores filled the room. I looked over to Sean, seeing him sleeping on the couch next to the girl. It wasn't long after that, before I finally shut my eyes.

My thoughts drifting into dream land, where I wished I could stay. Because when I opened my eyes next, there was that handsome face, too close for my comfort and I shrieked.

"Ahh!!!"

"Wah!! Holy shit!! Calm down!!" Sean fell over on the ground, earning a chuckle from me. I giggled, "Sorry.. You scared me.."

"Well, scaredy cat, the girl woke up. She's hiding in the bathroom."
