Koranu gazed at the petals of the Strelitzia Reginae popularly known as the bird of Paradise. It will whither and die next week. He narrowed his eyes, the flowers which takes about 3 years to bloom doesn't even last a year.

He got up from the chair and touched the beautiful yellow petals. Happiness was just like this flower, ephemeral, short and fleeting.

Someone knocked at the door, he signed and closed the biology text book he was reading.

" Come in"He said

Frank Ogeche, his mother's P.A entered the room, he glanced at the older taller man then climbed into the bed with his laptop.

Frank cleared his throat, " you have been given admission to S.A.T.S"
"okay"
He said in a monotonous tone.

Frank clenched his fist, talking with his Koranu always brought out the anger he contain. He never shows gratitude ever. He took deep breaths, " you know it isn't easy to get into S.A.T.S not alone without auditioning it isn't easy."

Koranu raised his eyebrow " Get to the point".
" What I am trying to say my dear rude little friend is that a little thank you will be appreciated".
Koranu flinched when he called him little, getting tired of Frank's presence,he nodded" Thank You "
Frank was only too glad to leave.

Not so far away from where he lived , another girl prepared so frantically for the same school.

" Zina, you can't be carrying all those boxes" Kosi, her fourteen year old sister called out to her.

" Of course, I can. Remember, a performer need to look like one at all times."

" Believe anything you want", Kosi sneered at her.
You would think that being only two daughters in the house there will bonding but it was the opposite.
Zina strived to beat Kosi and everyone around. Everything was a competition to her, even life was. A rival is better than a friend was her motto.

P.A means a personal assistant kinda like a secretary.
S.A.T.S stands for School for Advanced Talent Studies.
