{{Chapter 7}}

After Boscha's word echoed around the room, it made all of the club's member's expression change in an instant. Especially for the 2nd standing elite, Amity Blight. Her reaction was priceless compared to the other students.

As for Luz, she also had the same shocked expression as Amity. She neither couldn't believe that the "Hexside's witches" captain herself admitted the freshman over her performance earlier.

With Willow and Augustus at Luz's side, they couldn't help themselves from shaking the freshman's shoulder repeatedly, showing a shocked reaction as all of their gaze were locked onto Amity.

The freshman manages to hold in her joy from bursting out which might have destroyed the drama and mad tension spreading the room. But a slight confusion was still overtaking her mind from the real topic at hand.

A moment of silence and confusion went by as the students continued listening to their captain's rants about the poor television service at the hospital.

But when Amity finally managed to snap her thoughts away, she was the first one to break the silence and give an immediate response to Boscha.

"What do you mean she's in the club? You're not even here when the freshman auditioned!" The elite shouted back with an angered tone in her voice.

Boscha laughed over the call. "Oh, Blight, I have eyes around the place, remember? A certain 4-eyes glasses nerd sent me it."

With that, Amity and some of her crewmates slowly turned their attention to the student fitting that description.

"Just because I'm wearing glasses doesn't mean I'm the one, idiots." Kat facepalmed, turning to her right to glare at another student. "It might be her." She pointed a finger, passing the suspicion to the shy teen hiding behind Luz.

The others now followed Kat's glaze into the teen, making them much more confused than before. All the targeted teen could do now was avoid meeting the other's gaze by slightly bowing her head down.

"Care to explain, Willow?" Kat continued.

The dark-haired teen sighed and faced the 2nd year. "Like what you said, Kat. You can't just assume that I would send a video of Luz's audition to that jerk just because I wear glasses." Willow folded her arms to her chest.

"Well, we're the only two who have "4 eyes" as a nickname, doofus-" Kat paused, facing the phone in the middle. "Just tell us who it is, captain!"

"I can't, I mean, I could but I won't tell it to you losers." Boscha started with a soft laugh. "Enough about that, is there any problem, Blight?" She brought the question back up.

Amity gritted her teeth, showing anger towards her friend. "You can't just let her in like that, Boscha! We're the "Hexside witches", the defending champion amongst all the schools in this country, letting Luz in is highly unprofessional of you! Not to mention-"

"Hey!" Boscha shouted through the phone, cutting off Amity's rant. "I know, it's bad for our reputation, but calm down, Blight! You doofuses are basically doomed in the qualifying matches without me, putting you in  charge is the only thing I could do for now."

"Amity as captain will lead us into an even disappointing and embarrassing defeat." Skara scoffed.

"You son of a-" The elite was once again interrupted by the captain.

Mattholomule held her back. " Can you please stop charging at people! We need to fix this before the first-period starts, Amity. Now go shut your mouth and listen to the captain!"

The elite's eyes widened, reflecting fear towards the other students surrounding her. But when they heard Boscha laughing, Amity took the chance to pull her hand back and approached Skara.

She then snatched the phone from her hands and faced it close to her. "Tell me what to do, captain."

"And that's the Amity Blight I know. Geez, I didn't know these losers had the guts to talk back to an elite. Are you really gonna get them into you like that?"

"Shut it. Just tell me what to do so we can figure out a new game plan for the qualifying matches." Amity was quick to respond.

The former captain told all of her crewmates to gather around with Amity being in the middle to take the place of Skara in holding the phone up for everyone to hear.

With that, it left Luz, Willow, and Augustus out of the circle, away from all the drama and yelling. They didn't bother joining in to avoid any other tension between the official crew and the freshman.

Luz sighed and placed a hand behind her head. "Dang, this is getting out of hand."

"You said it. Before you showed up, nobody ever talked back to Amity like that, I guess they must have copied you, Luz." Willow teased.

"I was just defending myself from Boscha and Amity, I never expected something dramatic like this would happen."

"What if you saved Boscha instead of Amity? What are the outcomes." Gus curiously wondered.

"I'll probably get admitted into the club right away when I saved your team's beloved captain, but the downside of that, it's Amity, who might be injured right now."

Willow cutely yawned. "Yeah, but isn't that better? There's no one stopping you from joining the club." She said with a soft tone.

The freshman shrugged, taking a few steps backward after to somehow take a glimpse of the 2nd elite in the middle of the crowd. "That isn't worth it, Willow. Sure she may be a jerk to me now but-"

She paused after catching a clear view of Amity. "There's something else about her, I think she's more than a feared elite, she's more of a-"

"Self-centered dictator, who can't even properly stand up for herself?" Her friends continued for her.

Luz sighed and forced out a fake weakened smile. "I... I guess so." She started, turning around to face her friends. "I don't know okay, but for now, we have to wait for Boscha's confirmation and-"

At that exact moment, Luz's name was called, making her and her friends quickly face the circled students near the stage.

She nervously gulped and shakingly pointed a finger to herself, asking, "Me?" to the student who called her.

"Yeah, get in here freshman, the captain's calling you!"

"Yes ma'am, right away ma'am!" She quickly ran up to the crowd, reaching and struggling to push herself to the middle to have in contact with the phone.

With Amity holding it, she had no choice but to walk a bit closer to Luz as she struggled to get to the formed circle in the middle.

"Talk, Boscha." Amity scoffed after reaching out to Skara's phone closer to Luz.

"Thanks." The freshman muttered and leaned closer, hiding her shaking hands inside her hoodie's pockets.

Even if her confirmation was accepted earlier, she was still nervous about hearing the captain's final decision. Who knows, what if Amity managed to change Boscha's mind about her confirmation, that's what the poor teen thought.

"Where's the freshman?" Boscha yawned in a cute tone which made Willow cover her face for some unknown reason.

She firstly took a deep breath before speaking to the phone. "I'm here."

"Good, listen to me, newbie. Since mittens over here brought me to where I am now, I believe there will be some major changes till I come back."

"I'm listening."

"Good, now, this is for all of you to hear. While I'm still recovering, I want Amity to be the captain for the club as of now-"

"What? no way!" Skara was quick to deny. Sadly, Boscha immediately cut her off with another announcement.

"Skara let me talk! As your club captain, I know what I'm doing!" The captain yelled back, but this time, her voice sounded like it was angered.

Skara gasped, looking away from Amity's eyes to avoid contact. "This is absolute bull crap." She silently muttered to herself.

"For my 2nd decision, I guess I have no choice but to let the freshman join the club."

Those were the words that Luz has been waiting for, ever since she entered this school. And hearing those words from the captain made a huge irresistible smile form in her face.

She felt screaming, mostly owning up to Amity's face to piss her even more but she held it in to show how serious she is to the rest of the students surrounding them.

As for Amity, hearing this just made her madder to the freshman. But knowing the type of situation she's in right now, she knew standing up nor denying her admission will be worthless.

"Boscha can hear me, there's no point." The elite told herself as she slightly tilted her head down to avoid any contact with anyone. But one thing was bothering her, she felt like Luz was staring at her as if she was calling her to look back at her gaze.

Sadly, Amity didn't have the guts nor courage to do so. Instead, she only tried to cover her face as Boscha continuos to discuss more changes.

"Look, Liz-"

"It's Luz."

"Ugh, whatever. Remember, this spot is only temporary. Not all of the members in that club was easily admitted to the club, they worked hard for the spot. And you, you haven't shown me much yet. I'm expecting a bigger performance when I come back, Noceda."

Luz confidently smiled. "I won't let you down, I'll show you a true performance when you come back."

Boscha giggled. "I'm expecting it. Now that everything's settled, is everyone in terms-"

Before the students could hear the rest of Boscha's announcement, Amity suddenly walked out of the circle and brought the phone with her.

"Hey, witch, come back!" Skara called but Kat quickly stopped her from following the elite. "But that's my phone she's holding, give it back!"

All of them watched the Elite walk away from the rest of them, luckily Luz was able to follow Amity's direction despite several students cover her view.

When Amity walked into the club's changing room, she quickly locked the door and ran into the corner to make sure nobody can hear them.

"What's going on?" The captain asked after hearing all the yelling.

"Boscha, it's me Amity. Please tell me that everything you said isn't true."

"Blight for the last time,  it's true, stop denying it, stop forcing it! It's my final decision." Boscha facepalmed.

Amity gritted her teeth and controlled the tone of her voice. "But you can't be serious, I'm not fit for this role, I can't be a captain without your help!"

For the first time, Boscha stuttered a few words, unable to clearly reply to her two-toned haired friend.

"Heh, I knew you would think the same thing," Boscha was able to stammer out. "Look, Amity, I know it's hard, but please keep your profile high, our family's reputation... is on the line here."

"I know, I know, but-" Amity paused and leaned on the wall. "I need you, I want you to be in my side."

"Trying to flirt with me?"

"Screw you, of course not." Amity giggled softly.

"Same old Amity, we just have to keep this profile high, this might be the chance to improve your reputation as an elite."

The elite looked at her reflection across the mirror in front of her. "But how? I only followed you to be in this spot right now. And after that... dumb freshman appeared, it immediately started to crumble. They're targeting me, Boscha, as a prey."

"Geez, I really let you down. Don't you dare show weakness, okay?" The captain chuckled.

"Don't worry, I'm not planning to."

Suddenly, several healers were heard entering Boscha's room over the call which made Amity's eyes go wide.

"What's going on, you okay?"

The pink-haired teen coughed. "Oh shoot it's the healers, talk to you later, Mittens."

"Right, come back soon, please." Amity removed the phone from her ear.

But before she could even end the call, Boscha suddenly called out her name again. "Amity, wait!' She yelled.

"That Freshman... She'll help you get better, she has potential.

"Take care of her."

And just like that, Boscha ended the call, leaving Amity in plain confusion.
