{{Chapter 6}}
After the music ended, Luz finally ended her performance by stomping her foot forward with the perfect timing of the last beat. Many stood speechless yet so stunned, especially the second standing elite who was now bowing her head to avoid showing her reaction.
With the freshman still maintaining her post on stage, she slowly lifted her head and glanced around the place. There she realized that not only Amity was affected by her audition, but also half of the club's members.
Willow and Augustus proceed to applause their friend, gathering a few other students to join them. But for the rest of the members, they only stood silent as anger appeared on their faces.
But when Luz's attention was directed to Amity, an irresistible smirk formed on her face. With one look, the freshman was able to figure out that the elite was somehow stunned by her quick performance.
And yet, Luz felt something else. Instead of feeling high and mighty towards Amity despite being a freshman, she actually felt guilty when she saw a glimpse of Amity's eyes.
"Did I- do something wrong?" She asked herself.
Aside from Amity's unknown reaction, Luz also realizes that the others were targeting her. Not only for the confidence she has as a freshman, but also the fact that she was more advance than all of them.
Her breathing was still at a fast pace from all the dancing, but she couldn't help but wonder about the reactions of her fellow students.
But when she took another glance at Amity, she realized that she was now looking at her which made their eyes meet once again.
Even if both teens were standing a few meters away from each other, they were still focused on looking deeply into their eyes, ignoring all the students watching them.
It shows that Amity was still showing anger towards the freshman, making Luz reply the same look.
"I wonder, why was she hiding her face after my performance? Is she hiding something?" The newbie questioned herself after breaking the tension between her and the freshman.
Suddenly, her thoughts quickly disappeared when Luz heard her name being yelled out multiple times. She followed the sound which led to Augustus and Willow.
It appears that the two were signaling Luz to climb back down from the stage to wait for Amity's confirmation of Luz's admission.
The freshman quickly nodded in agreement and followed the two towards the Elite. Even if several students were blocking their way, Luz was still attempting to take a glance at Amity to see her reaction up close.
It was now confusing her, was it anger or something else that she saw reflect onto the elite's eyes? Whatever it is, it made her feel guilty, and yet she still acts to be mighty to maintain her current reputation at the club.
After they caught up to Amity, the elite slowly turned around to face them with the same intimidating look.
Luz smirked and folded her arms to her chess, exchanging a forced cocky look with Amity. As the tension between the two rises again, Willow decided to step in to avoid another fight between Amity and Luz.
"So what will it be, Amity?" She started, pulling Augustus to her side for assistance.
"Is Luz in?" The cheerful boy continued, copying the same confident glare Willow has.
It took a few seconds before Amity could even think of a response. All she could do was stutter and look around the place.
Once again, silence fell onto the 3 teens as several students gathered around them to hear Amity's announcement. But when the students around them started to increase, Amity's reaction faded and turned into a worried one.
Skara stepped in front. "Speechless again, Blight? I always knew you couldn't decide on your own without Boscha's help."
"Shut it, nitwit." Amity managed to stammer out after she took a few steps backward to distance herself from Luz.
Sadly, her way was blocked off when Mattholomule and his friends blocked the exit door, hinting their elite to sway her decision.
"Oh come on, Amity. You couldn't just possibly let a freshman in just like that. What do you say?"
Amity stuttered and bowed her head as she covered both her ears with her hands to try to reduce the continuous yelling of her teammates.
At this point, the poor teen left all the incoming questions unanswered as well with not fighting back with the insults unlike before.
It was clear that the Elite was having trouble deciding on Luz's admission to the club, making her consciousness arise.
She then tumbled down when someone from the crowd placed their foot behind the elite, leading her to trip and fall to the ground.
"Get up!" A female voice shouted from the back, followed by other voices that shouted the same insult Skara has given.
From what it seems to Luz is Amity is now being the targeted prey instead of her. Aside from being the second standing elite, without Boscha, she's a weakling.
"Why isn't Amity talking back to them?" Willow asked, confused.
Augustus shrugged and covered his mouth with his palm. "I-I don't know, it's like she's being demoted into a member without Boscha around."
"Actually, this is the first time we see Amity so.. speechless and nervous."
"D-did we.." Luz stuttered, making both of her friends face her. "Did we go too far?" She finished her sentence.
"No, we didn't, Luz."
Willow adjusted her glasses. "For someone as high and might as Amity, seeing her cower from all the pressure like this is actually hard to watch." She admitted.
Gus followed. "But why doesn't she acts like this when she's with Boscha? Even if she's under a lot of pressure, those two will always find a way to be in sync."
"We should stop this."
"No, it's not our problem, it's hers." Willow held her back.
But when Luz saw how much was Amity was being affected by being in the midst of the crowd, she quickly shook all her thoughts and rushed right beside her, pushing some of the students away from Amity.
"Back off!" She shouted, making the room fall silent as all of their attention diverted to her.
With Luz still having quick-paced breathing, she slowly took a deep breath before turning around to face Amity.
"You jerks don't have to pressure her like that."
Amity's eyes widened. The fact that the freshman who she actually underestimated was now standing up for her.
Luz smiled and offered Amity a hand to help her get back to her feet. "Give some respect to an Elite, will you?"
Hearing the freshman say that made Amity's cheeks redden. Even if the two had met in a bad way, she wondered, "Why is she doing this?"
Someone from the crowd laughed. "You were just mad at her a while ago, make up your mind, loser!"
"I and Amity have been through a rough start but at least don't pressure her like this, just wait for her decision and don't rush her!"
"Oh please, witch." Skara scoffed. "You're just doing this just because you want Amity to let you in the club! You may be a good dancer, I'll say. But you're not that good in acting."
"No! It's not like that- Huh?" Luz gasped when she felt someone held her hand.
When she turned to her right, she saw Amity accepting her hand which assisted her to get back to her feet.
The freshman smiled warmly and faced Amity, but when she was about to speak, Amity suddenly pushed her away with all her force.
"Gah!" The freshman screamed as she fell, looking up to face Amity right in her golden eyes.
Once again, the room stayed silent after Amity made a move. But it was all broken when Luz shouted back at her.
"What the heck's your problem?! I'm trying to help you, Blight!"
The elite gritted her teeth. "I don't need your help, Luz! You ruined everything!"
Luz's eyes widened out of shock. "What do you mean I ruined everything?" She started while standing back up. "All I did was auditioned and-"
Before she could even finish, Amity once again interfered with a sinister laugh.
"I want you out of the club, Noceda. You didn't amaze me."
"W-what?"
Willow and Augustus rushed into the scene and held Luz back. "What do you mean she's not in? She did a good job back there, Amity!"
"That may be true, but us members in the club are much more advance. We don't need a weakling like her."
Amity chuckled, turning around to face the stage. "Plus, I believe Boscha will be back soon, there's no point in letting her in if she'll be kicked out afterward."
"C-come on, Amor. Don't be like this, I-"
"Discussion is done!" Amity stomped her foot to the ground. "I don't respect people who act superior to others, you Luz Noceda, are one of them."
Luz let out a sarcastic laugh. "Spoken like a true elite, I don't know if you know but, that's exactly what you do to others, including me!"
"Its because I know my place, stay in your league, nitwit."
"You motherfu-" Luz rolled up her sleeves while walking up to the elite.
Her friends quickly covered her way. "Woah, Luz! No need to be offensive!"
Amity chuckled and took out her phone to check the time, facing Skara and the others afterward.
"Skara, grab my bag. Class is about to start."
Boscha's assistant arched an eyebrow at her." Excuse me? Who are you to tell me what to do?"
"You're only an assistant, you're talking to me, an elite! Now go grab my bag and let's go."
"Stop acting like such a superior jerk! We all know you became the second elite just because Boscha had a little crush on you!"
Luz's eyes widened. "W-wait, seriously?"
Amity had the same shocked reaction too, sadly, she didn't respond nor fought back to Skara. But what caught Luz's attention was the fact that Amity's cheeks suddenly reddened compared to last time.
The elite had no choice but to deny it. "No, she does not! That 10 years ago, goddammit!"
"But even though, we all know you fear her. You just follow her around all day, pretending that you're superior to the rest of us."
"That's it, I had enough. I'm leaving!" The elite was quick to respond.
Mattholomule covered her way. "You can't just leave without addressing this seriously, what if the captain doesn't come back? We need another member, Amity!"
"Boscha will be back just before the completion next week! That idiot wouldn't possibly leave us alone with this freshman." Amity explained.
At that exact moment, Skara's phone suddenly rang an incoming phone call notification, making all of the students inside the room turn to her.
When she took it out of her pocket, her eyes widened as an irresistible smile form on her face. "It's Boscha!" She excitedly yelled out.
"Put it on speaker!" Amity rushed towards her.
Skara accepted the incoming call and placed her phone in the middle so all of her crewmates can hear Boscha's call.
"Boscha, I thought you would never call! What's happening, witch? You okay, are you gonna make it?!"
"Geez, Skara, calm down, I'm not dying or anything."
"Thank the stars." Skara sighed in relief. "So, what did the healers say, can you recover before the qualifying matches?"
Boscha coughed over the call. "I wish I can. But the doctors won't let me out until I fully recover. It sucks over here, they don't even have a freaking good channel on the television!"
"Well, how long will you recover? Were lost without you!"
"I thought so. And I honestly don't know, the healers won't tell me."
The students shared the same worried looks as they continued listening to Skara and Boscha's current conversation.
Skara sighed. "Well, I guess we're doomed for the qualifying matches."
Boscha chuckled. "Don't be, Amity will be in charge as of now and-"
"Excuse me, witch, what?!" Skara started with a shocked tone in her voice. "You can't be serious, Boscha! Amity in charge?"
"I'm right beside you, idiot!" Amity shoved her crewmate's arm.
"Relax you fools! It's only for the time I'm gone, when I come back, I take my place back, got it?"
A girl named Amelia moved closer to Skara. "But how about our performance? We need 10 members for our dance routine!"
"Oh right, Uhm, is that freshman still with you?"
Amity arched an eyebrow at the word mentioned. "Yeah, why?"
"I saw her audition. As the club's captain-
" I admit her into the club and promote her into as your 3rd elite."
