{{Chapter 5}}
As the entire room stayed silent, all of the members quickly shifted their attention to the two angered teens in the distance.
Both were still yelling at each other, but when Luz finally pinned the poor Elite into the wall, Amity remained speechless.
With Luz's voice still high, Skara and the others rushed towards them, pulling the two girls away from each other.
While Amity tried to force herself to deny and ignore all of Luz's requests, the freshman stood there with a mighty feeling.
For the second time, she saw the elite's true fear show. Aside from Boscha, Luz wondered if Amity really feared her even for only this minute.
But when Willow managed to make the freshman snap out of her thoughts, she looked back to her and calmly asked "what?"
"Calm down, Luz." She sighed, still looking at Amity. "No need to take this too far."
Luz followed Willow's gaze leading to the elite once again, and there she saw Amity was staring back at her with her angered face.
Her arms were still folded and she remained silent among her friends. Luz arched an eyebrow at her, a second ago she saw her true fear right in her golden eyes, but now she looks more superior than before.
She sighed and looked down. "Did I go too far?" Luz asked Willow.
Augustus stepped up from behind, tapping their new friend's back. "Maybe a little, but why didn't Amity yell back nor defended herself?"
"I don't know, usually Boscha and her will turn the situation around if someone's messing with them." Willow started, turning back to the freshman. "But you, Luz, actually made an elite shut up for once."
Luz nervously chuckled, placing a hand behind her neck. "Is that bad or.. some kind of achievement here at Hexside?"
"Maybe a little bit of both." The dark blue haired teen answered. "But for now, we better wait for Amity's approval."
While the 3 teens watched in front, Amity finally snapped back into reality which made a sinister smirk form on her face.
Despite being an elite, the poor teen knew she could never show weakness to any of her crewmates. Just like what her upper elite taught her, Boscha.
With this, she looked back directly at Luz's eyes, making their eyes meet once again. But this time, Luz was no longer angered, instead, she was amused and confident.
But for the other crewmates standing there, all they saw in Luz was an overconfident freshman who knows nothing, according to Skara of course.
Amity let out a soft chuckle before gently pushing Skara away, walking towards the freshman afterward.
And there they stood face to face once again, but this time, Willow and the rest of the crew went behind them in case something critical happens.
"So, what is it? We had a deal, Blight." Luz spoke up, trying to maintain her direct look at Amity's sparkling eyes.
"Heh, I like you, newbie." She laughed, still showing anger as a smirk slowly form on her face. "And I'm thinking that Boscha will too."
The freshman scoffed. "Sorry, I'm not into overconfident jerks." She fixed her shirt's collar.
Amity's cheeks slowly redden at the response. "No, not like that! What I meant was you're different than any other freshman."
Luz suddenly smiled irresistibly. "So does that mean I'm in the club?" She asked.
Amity laughed and slowly walked beside her, circling her around to make her look more superior.
"Sadly it's a no." the elite teased, making Luz's smile faded and turn into a blank expression. "But when you rushed into me like that, acting like your much more superior." Amity continued as she slowly gets closer to Luz.
"It pisses me off." She continued.
Luz arched an eyebrow at gently pushed her away. "Did I asked for your opinion? Yeah sure, you may be an elite but someone has to talk some sense into you, do you think acting superior makes you cool?"
"I don't need to be cool, I already know I'm superior, especially to you," Amity growled back with a forced smile.
"But when it comes to Captain Boscha you cower- Hey!" Before the teen could even finish, Amity suddenly grabbed her shirt's collar out of pure rage which made the others rush towards them.
Amity gritted her teeth, showing anger towards the freshman. "I don't need that idiot! Stop saying that!"
"Woah just chill, Mi amor!" Luz forced a laugh, hiding the fact that this actually struck her inside.
Skara pulled the elite away from the scene, holding both her wrists to avoid her from running back to charge Luz again.
"Chill out, witch!" She shouted.
But with Amity's strength, she managed to pull both of her hands away from Skara. "I am calm! Idiot."
Mattholomule then walked in between the two angered teens. "Woah now, Amity. Are you really letting a stranger get into you like that?"
Amity smirked and approached her crewmate with open arms. "Of course not, we were only having a nice little talk."
"But you were just raging out a second ago-"
"Shut it, Matt." Amity slammed her hand on the poor teen's back, making him stand up straight and nod repeatedly.
"Yes, ma'am." He was quick to reply.
After Amity calmed a bit down, she sighed and faced Luz which made her recall the statement that the freshman told her a few minutes ago.
"I recall you wanted to show me what you have to offer in this team if you join the club, am I correct?"
"Yeah, simple right? But little miss perfect over here has to make it even more complicated."
Amity's eyes widened. "W-who told you that?"
Luz shrugged, taking out a candy bar that she stole from the team's snack. "I don't know, rumors I guess." She terribly lied.
Amity shook away her thoughts and returned to the topic at hand as she forced out a fake smile to show the others she wasn't affected.
"As a professional, I apologized for my actions, lady Luz," she added with a calm tone in her voice. "But you must know that freshman like you needs to know their place, eh?"
"As a professional, I'll rather kick your butt than listen to your fake apology." Luz folded her arms to her chest.
Amity giggled, maintaining distance away from Luz. " I'm not lying, I am truly sorry for my actions." she then turned around. "loser" She mumbled while walking back to the rest of her team.
"Hey, I heard that!"
"Heard what?" The elite giggled. "Anyways, I'm gonna make this quick. Since Boscha isn't here to lead us anymore, I'm clearly the suitable one for the captain role which means I have the power to admit you into the club."
"Then let me show you what I got, just give me a chance to show you what I can do for this team."
"Oh let's see, but since you won't leave me alone, I'll give you a chance to audition."
"And that's all I wanted, took you long enough to give me a chance." Luz irresistibly smiled which made Amity's angered look towards her suddenly fade.
Luz cutely giggled. "So, when am I auditioning?" The teen added.
The elite smiled, placing her finger under Luz's chin to make her face her eyes. "Right here, right now.
"Now? Wow, you must really want to see me dance, eh Blight?" Luz teased back.
Skara suddenly stepped up. "Uhm, no actually. We only have 30 minutes until our first period starts."
"Oh." The freshman also realized.
Amity smirked and tapped the freshman's shoulder. "Just remember, if you fail to satisfy me with your performance, I want you to stay away from this track and this team, deal?"
Luz stepped forward, offering the elite a handshake. "Oh, it's a deal."
After Luz was finally permitted to make an audition, she quickly gave a signal to both Augustus and Willow to make them gather.
When Amity and the rest of her crewmates walked to the stage, this gave Luz to scream out of excitement as Wilow and Augustus cheered with her.
"Oh my Gosh, I actually convinced her-" Luz told her friends with a shocked tone. "I thought I had to get into another beat down with her."
"I guess Amity couldn't take any of the insults anymore and decided to give you the chance." Augustus laughed.
Willow giggled softly. "But we still have one problem, Luz still has to amaze Amity to make her sign a club application form."
"Don't worry about that Willow! I didn't just insult a so-called "elite" just to enter a club. Even though that might end my whole social life here at school-"
"Yeah, talking or interfering with an Elite will make you their visible prey. Even in other clubs, but for this club, Boscha and Amity take control."
"Well, why can't it be you guys? You two are way better than those losers!"
Both of the first years sighed. "It's not easy to be an elite, Luz. You'll have to go under several private solo training sessions with a talented mentor." Willow answered first.
"And not to mention you must have a history of winning multiple competitions to build up your title. And Amity's parents are their era's champions so that's why she has the upper hand among us."
"But there's something odd about her." Luz wondered, secretly looking at Amity in the distance. "I don't know why, but I sense something about her."
Gus arched an eyebrow at her. "Ugh, hello? Did you forget what did she do to you a while ago? She almost tackled you to the ground!"
"Yeah, and it's because I was taking it too far, Gus. And... I might have pinned her first."
"But at least someone actually told some sense into her, Boscha really made her like this, it's honestly kinda annoying."
The freshman sighed and turned around. "I don't know guys, that look a while ago, she actually looked like she was.. afraid-"
"Afraid? afraid of you? Nah, Luz, that's not possible. Amity never cowers to anyone. She and Boscha are side to side witches who agrees on everything."
"Well, maybe not everything but you get the point."
"Yeah, I know. But I'll eventually figure it out." Luz lastly muttered before walking towards Amity.
Willow and Augustus shared the same confused look. "Figure what out?"
"Oh no she's gonna talk to Amity, lets go." Willow sighed while following the freshman from behind.
After Luz finally stepped in front of Amity, she wore her hoodie and flicked its cat ears which made some of the students laugh at her while others just despised her.
Both of her friends followed from behind, giving Luz one last high five before seating down in the seats in front of the stage.
"I'm ready, what theme do you suggest, captain?" She asked, placing her arm on her waist.
"Any dance would do just fine, Noceda. Just make sure it's enough to wow me."
And at that moment, music began to play from the speakers as the team's dj played a disc. The beat began soft, slowly turning into a fast tempo.
With this chance, Luz didn't hesitate to snap her fingers to the beat. Luckily she was familiar with the music being played so she knew the exact moves in the performance.
She never wanted this chance to go to waste, she wanted to show Amity that even a freshman like her can do so much more.
Moments later, the music played its chorus. As for Luz, she unleashed her true skill as she followed the moves with the perfect timing of the beat.
Sure it was emberassinbg for her, the fact that several students were watching he dance alone, but she didnt care, all she did was close her eyes and moved her body the rhythm of the song.
Every step was perfect, every move was smooth, and her backflips were flawlessly landed. And all of this, was enough to make Amity's jaw drop.
As much as she hated to admit it, she was unexpectedly amazed by the freshman's performance. Sadly, she never wanted to admit it. She knew her reputation is on the line, and if she shows any attractions to the freshman, it will end her career.
While Willow and Augustus continued to cheer Luz on, other members of the club yawned and booed the poor teen.
But for Amity, one thing was clear and it made several emotions mess with her mind.
"No, how could she perfect every move, the timing, the beat? And it looks like she's actually enjoying herself. It's like she doesn't care what others think of her, she's only loss in her own world. Pf, that idiot."
"No, Amity. Don't show weakness, don't show emotions. This music has a difficult dance step built-in, even for me and Boscha to handle. But for that freshman, it seems so simple to her, it seems like she's only moving her body to the rhythm and nothing more."
"I-I... She's perfect."
