{{Chapter 3}}
"Amity, no!" Others shouted as the two elites lost both their balances, leading them to fall straight to the ground.
And in that exact and crucial moment, Noceda's instincts quickly struck her, making her ran as fast as she can towards the falling teen's direction.
But before Amity could even hit the ground, Luz immediately dived down and reached out her arms to catch the 2nd year teen.
The elite luckily landed safely into the freshman's arms which made her stop screaming after she realized someone had saved her.
"Got ya, Amor!" Luz yelled in relief, turning her gaze directly at Amity's eyes.
"You okay? She continued with a worried tone in her voice.
Amity's eyes were still widened from the quick event, but when she looked back into Luz's eyes, a weak smile suddenly formed on her face.
The second-year quickly looked away after. "You're a quick one, thanks."
Luz smiled, quickly turning her attention to the pink-haired teen afterward.
"Oh crap, Boscha!" She saw the other elite.
Sadly for the team captain, Boscha's grip on the ledge loosened which made her fall down from the stage.
Willow stepped in front. "Boscha!" She yelled before running down the stage.
"You jerks!" The team captain yelled out, sounding injured.
With that, Luz gently placed Amity down and ran towards Willow's side. And there they saw the team captain holding a part of her leg.
"You okay-" Willow was interrupted.
"No, I am not okay, plant girl!" She shouted back while slowly getting back to her feet. "Not even one of you tried to save me!"
Amity stood up, dusting her shirt. "It's because you kept forcing me to do this stupid move with you, Boscha! And this is exactly the outcome that I was talking about."
"Shut up, Blight! It's because you messed up that last part- Ouch!" She groaned out of pain, falling to her knees again.
"Skara help me up!"
Skara pushed Augustus aside and rushed towards the injured captain. "Yes ma'am!"
She then helped her get up to her feet as she placed an arm around her friend. "You okay, witch?"
"Do I look okay to you, Skara?"
"Yes-"
Boscha shoved her assistant. "That fall freaking broke my leg! Now help me get to the healer's office!"
But before Skara could even escort Boscha out of the room, Amity quickly covered their way to make them stop walking out.
"Hold on, captain, are you gonna chicken out just because you injured your leg?" The elite crossed her arms to her chest.
"Get out of the way, Blight, I'll be back."
Willow and Augustus then followed from behind. "But the qualifying matches are just in 2 two days, We have to practice if we want to win."
"I'm with Augustus, we need to take this chance to practice, captain," Willow replied.
"Wow, can you witches relax for just a minute? Skara's just talking me to the healer's office to check if this case is serious. I'll be back, you know?"
Amity arched an eyebrow, looking down at Boscha's injured leg. "That was a pretty hard landing back there, Captain, how's life?" She teased.
"Oh shut it, loser."
The aquamarine-haired teen chuckled. "Enough, what will we do without you? What if that bruise will take a long time to recover?"
Boscha forced out a smile. "Relax, Mittens-"
"Don't call me that."
"Whatever. Anyways, relax, I'm not that weak to come back from an injured leg. I promise I'll be back with Skara. J-just, practice while I'm gone."
Mattholomule suddenly ran into the scene. "But our dance routine mostly features you, the star of our performance is you, Boscha."
"We'll be lost without you in the team. If your fall was that serious, the whole crew won't be in sync anymore!" Willow worriedly added. "Plus, your leg is turning black, want an ice pack?"
The captain softly chuckled. "Woah there, loser. It sounds like you actually care for me." Boscha told Willow.
The two slightly blushed and looked away from each other, making the others go silent.
Willow rolled her eyes. "Huh, in your dreams."
"Gross. Stay in your league plant girl."
Amity then broke the silence and awkwardness between the two by stomping her feet down to the wooden ground.
Everybody in the room turned their attention to her, including Luz who stayed at the spot where Boscha first fell.
"Enough of this crap! It's a miracle that the Freshman saved me and trust me, I'm completely fine-"
"No one asked, Blight."
"I know but we're talking about you," Amity replied, walking closer to the captain to pin her to the wall.
With Skara no longer supporting Boscha, the captain had no choice but to hold onto Amity's shoulder to maintain her balance.
"Now answer me, captain," Amity growled. "Can you still perform, yes or no?"
"What kind of question is that, Blight? Of course, I can! Let me just go check in the healer's office with Skara and I'll be back! You're making such a big deal about this."
"And what if you don't come back?"
For once, the captain was speechless, unable to think nor reply to any of her crew's questions. As much as she hated to admit it, the pain aching from her leg was too much but she kept holding her tears or a sign of weakness from showing.
While the rest of her team tried to convince her to stay, she slowly looked around the room while thinking of a response.
And there she saw the freshman stealing candy bars from the table. With that, Boscha was finally able to thought of a solution.
She turned back to Amity. "Look, Blight, I know you're obsessed with winning this competition, but I swear I'll be back."
"That's my goddam point, captain, what if you don't come back? We'll be a wreck when it comes to the qualifying week." She started, still giving Boscha her usual angered look. "And it's not me who's obsessed, it's you."
The team captain sighed. "Fine, you have a point." She finally admitted.
When Skara was about to push Amity aside, Boscha suddenly snapped her finger, telling her assistant to stop.
"Hold on, Skara," Boscha ordered before looking to her right. "Hey, new kid!" She called out Luz.
The freshman immediately stopped taking the free candy bars from the table and faced Boscha, pretending that nothing happened.
"No, I wasn't stealing any candy bars! Who said that?" She nervously replied.
Boscha eye-rolled. "Ugh, come here."
Luz chuckled and ran towards the group, still trying to hide the handful of candies in her pocket.
When she finally faced the captain, shivers went down her spine when Boscha gave her usual death glare towards any freshman or any student who stands below her league.
As usual, she stands superior to anyone except for her friends. But when Willow and Augustus noticed this, they quickly stood beside Luz.
"H-hey Boscha, you okay?" Luz nervously asked.
"Look, newbie, I know this is sudden and I don't do this often, but since you here, I supposed I have no choice."
"Huh? What are you talking about?" The teen asked, confused.
"You'll be taking my stop as a temporary member till I'm gone. Amity and plant nerd over here will be teaching you the basics"
Luz's eyes went wide as well with an irresistible smile forming on her face. "W-wait, wait, you serious? Holy Titans, yes!"
"Now, don't go a little too crazy you twerp, you are NOT officially on the team, you are just filling in my spot while I'm gone."
The teen's smile slowly faded. "Oh, right."
Boscha smirked. "And when I'm back, I want you out of my club." She added after crossing her arms to her chest.
The poor freshman sighed and nodded her head. "S-sure, thanks."
"You're a lucky one, new kid, not all of the students here can join the club, even if it's temporary. But since Ams over here messed up our closing move, I suppose you can stay for a while."
Boscha then placed an arm around her assistant, snapping her finger twice to signal Skara to take her to the Healer's office.
But when she walked past Amity, she slowly leaned closer to her ear to whisper something. "When I'm back, we're going to practice that move again, and again, until we master it, got it, Blight?"
"But Boscha, look what that move did to you, Are you-" Amity was once again interrupted.
"Shut it, I don't care if we get hurt or injured, mastering that move will guarantee us a spot in the qualifying matches. Now, you want that, do you?"
The second standing elite sighed and nodded her head in agreement which made Boscha smirk in a sinister way.
"Good girl." She started, turning around to face Luz who was now secretly handing out the candy she stole to Augustus and Willow.
"Make good use of that freshman, I don't give a single care about what you'll do to her, just remember, I'll be taking my spot back. Got it, Mittens?"
Amity gritted her teeth, hiding her true anger from showing. "Yes, captain."
The team captain lastly tapped her friend's head before heading out of the room with Skara's assistance, leaving Luz and the rest of her team inside the room.
With the captain gone, Amity finally sighed in relief as she placed both her hands behind her head.
"Well, I'm glad she's gone."
Willow chuckled. "I know right, but, her bruise looks kinda bad tho, shouldn't we wait for her inside the healer's office?"
Amity sighed. "I'm sure that our precious captain, or overconfident jerk at this case, is fine. We just have to wait for her."
"What will we do in the meantime?" One member asked.
"Since we don't have our main dancer at the moment, I supposed you can practice your individual steps."
"How about me?" Someone interrupted the second elite.
Amity stopped talking and turned around, only to face the freshman, Luz Noceda. But instead of replying to her, she only ignored her and continued instructing her other teammates.
The short brown haired teen tilted her head and stared at Willow with visible confusion, Willow and Augustus on the other hand only shrugged their shoulders in reply.
After the assigned captain sent all her teammates to their practice spots, Luz quickly took the chance to stop her from walking away.
"Hey, Amity!" She covered the elite's way.
The two-toned hair teen arched an eyebrow at her. "What do you want, new girl?"
"Uh.. that captain of yours made me her temporary replacement, remember?"
Amity smirked, looking down at her black polished fingernails next. "Yeah, and so what?"
Luz's heart stopped. "A-aren't you gonna let me practice with you guys? Even if I'm-" She paused, struggling to say the word that comes next.
"What, temporary, weak, useless?" Amity continued for her.
The freshman stayed silent as both her palms formed into fists. Meanwhile, with her new two friends, they just stood there, watching the tension between the two worsened.
Seconds later, Amity finally spoke up. With her reputation being displayed, she acted superior to Luz and the two dancers behind her like what she used to do to other students.
"Look, I know Boscha's injury may look bad but I know she can bounce back. What's the point of my training you if she's coming back anyway? In other words, teaching you will be pointless."
Willow gritted her teeth, showing anger towards the 2nd elite. "Amity, come on, give Luz a chance, please."
"Is Luz short for Looser? I mean, it rhymes tho." Amity Blight laughed, making Luz slightly bow her head to hide her anger. "Come on, Luz, looser. It's the same."
"That ain't cool, Amity." Augustus crossed his arms to his chest.
Amity chuckled and tapped the other freshman's hair. "Aw, that's so cute Augustus. I know you're the youngest member in this club but that doesn't change the fact that I get to treat you any different than these looser."
Once again, the ones who were targeted by the elite stood silent. And with that, Amity victoriously continued walking towards her crewmate's direction.
But the freshman wasn't going down with a fight, so she immediately chased after Amity and grabbed her by the wrist, flipping her over to make her face her eyes.
Amity gasped at the touch and yet she only stood silent as she stared deep into Luz's brown angered eyes.
"Now you listen here you little witch, you may act superior to all of your crewmates but I know deep inside you're just a scared, pathetic, little miss perfect wanna be!"
"I don't care if you have straight hair, straight A's, even if you're straight forward, I know you still cower when that idiotic captain of yours boss you around."
But when Amity was about to shout back, Luz quickly placed her other hand onto the 2nd year's shirt to pull her closer.
"I know I'm just a freshman, but you kept underestimating me even though I haven't shown you my true ability yet! So shut your mouth and let me do my part!" Luz raged out.
Now that Luz was able to freely express herself, everybody in the room stayed silent, some were even shocked that a freshman was able to talk sense into an Elite like Amity.
As for the 2nd leading captain, she kept forcing out the same angered look as Luz to show her superiority.
A few moments later, Luz finally calmed down her breathing and loosed her grip on Amity's shirt. "Sorry." She muttered out while looking away from the elite's eyes.
"Huh, talk big when you can prove it, nitwit." She countered back the insult. "And for the record, I don't a crap coming from a lonely freshman."
When Augustus and Willow were about to back Luz up, Amity suddenly continued by grabbing Luz's collar to pull her closer with her control this time.
"Woah, Amity, stop!" Willow gasped.
The elite only ignored them and focused on Luz's eyes. "Fine, I'll give you the chance to show me what you got when Boscha doesn't come back. Which possibilities are, hm.. 0%"
"Oh let's see, I should have saved her instead of you."
"And I don't care less." Amity lastly replied before walking away.
With Amity no longer close to the three, Willow and Augustus quickly ran up to Luz and pulled her to a spot where no one can hear them.
"Are you insane?! You just insulted an elite!"
Luz giggled. "Relax Gus, Oh, should I call you Gus for short?"
Augustus's eyes widened in pure joy. "A nickname? Nobody has ever given me a nickname, heck yeah you can call me that!"
"Back to topic." Willow adjusted her glasses. "But Luz, you just talked sense to Amity, which makes the chances of you joining the club an absolute zero! It's not possible that she'll admit you even if Boscha doesn't come back."
"And not only that, she'll make your life a living nightmare! She'll even bring Boscha and her gang along with her."
"Woah, Woah, relax you guys!" The freshman chuckled. "I know what I did can destroy my life here in Hexside but someone has to talk sense into that Elite. I mean, she can't just act superior to all of us forever."
Willow sighed. "That may be true, Luz. Let's just hope she gets along with you. What if Boscha comes back? Will you still convince them?"
"Sure, I will. I didn't just enroll here at Hexside for nothing. I wanted to join this team to pursue my dreams, plus, I want to be in the same team with you guys." Luz pulled the two into a hug.
Gus laughed. "I know we just met you today, new girl-"
"It's Luz."
"Right, Luz. But I have a feeling we're gonna get along just fine." Gus continued.
"Yeah, me too," Willow added. "But hey, If Boscha does come back, we still get to see each other, right?"
The freshman smiled. "Of course we can!"
As the 3 continued sharing this moment, all of their attention quickly diverted into the entrance area as soon as they heard the door slam open.
When Luz and her new friends turned around, they saw Skara heavily breathing while holding onto the door's handle.
Amity then rushed in her direction, extending her arms sidewards to make Skara notice her.
"Skara, what happened, where's Boscha?" She asked, confused.
After Boscha's assistant finally regained her breath, she quickly stood up straight and calmly looked at Amity's eyes.
With that, she took a deep breath, and calmly answered.
"Hospital, yeah I know, were doomed."
