{{Chapter 14}}

After the Blight twins had settled down over the fight, Luz didn't hesitate to write their names in the written list of the member on the club's board.

Aside from Amity's continuous warnings about her siblings, the fear coming from the rest of the team started to worry the freshman.

Luz knew admitting the two elites into the club may risk their exposing their team and secret, but as much she hated to admit it, she also knew that she needed the two professionals to secure a spot in the qualifying matches next week.

With this, Amity's expression changed towards Luz. Not because of the fact she accepted her siblings, but it was the way how she looks at them whenever a compliment is told, or whenever the term "cutie" is mentioned

The elite crossed her arms to her chest. "You're making a huge mistake, Luz." She glanced at the freshman.

Luz returned a smile, causing the same flushed reaction to happen to Amity. "Hey don't worry, we needed them. Plus, this could be a great way for you to bond with your older siblings."

"Bond?" Amity scoffed, shifting her gaze to her siblings. "I simply refuse. Those idiots will just make a mess! They don't take anything seriously and I doubt they could be a help- GAH!"

Edric and Emira interrupted their youngest sibling by pulling her into a tight hug. "Aw, same old Mittens and her false accusations about us!"

Edric patted her hair. "Don't listen to her, Luz. She's just worried that we might embarrass her in front of her friends."

"And that we might be better than her in dancing, which will completely happen." Emira took the other side and copied her brother's actions.

Before Amity's anger worsen at the moment, she immediately shakes off her sibling's hands and rushed towards Luz. Hiding behind the freshman as she hides her face.

Luz on the other hand found her adorable, making her cheeks lightly turn red. She then turned to her and placed one hand on her shoulder to make Amity exchange looks with her.

"Hey, I'm sure your siblings got our backs. Just give them a chance, please?" She smiled.

"You don't even know them that well, Noceda." Amity quickly breaks the gaze between her and the freshman. "I'm warning you, you should get rid of them while it's too early."

Then suddenly, something struck the elite. "Hold on a minute, I am the second-standing elite after Boscha, and you're just a third elite!"

Luz realized the thought as well." And... that makes you more powerful than me, isn't it?" Her smile slowly faded.

"W-well, yeah! I didn't even permit you to let my siblings into the club! And here you are taking full leadership as you make dumb decisions!"

The freshman sighed, looking down. "You're right, I'm sorry." She started before looking towards the Blight twins. "And I should apologize to them too, huh?"

Amity's gaze shifted to Luz. "I..." at first she was speechless. Just seeing the freshman sad suddenly made an effect on her. "I guess so." she continues.

Luz forced a smile and nodded, walking towards her older siblings afterward. The feeling on her chest worsen as she started to slow down, the power she held over the club overwhelmed her.

The simplicity of choosing who to accept and who to decline offers in the club was over her head. And yet she forgot she was only a third elite, the lowest form among the group.

"Hm, this is what it feels to be an elite."

Now that she faces the two older teens, she slowly looked up to them and forced a broken yet nervous smile.

"Hey, Edric, Emira!" She shakingly called. "I just remembered that..." It took her a few seconds to continue.

Edric and Emira looked at her, confused. "What is it, cutie?" Emira arched an eyebrow.

With the mentioned word, Luz had the same reaction as earlier. She quickly covered her blushing face and turned around. "Goddammit, Blights!"

It wasn't long until she came back to her senses and face the two with a serious face. But before she continues, she took one last look at Amity.

"She's right, she still holds the club while Boscha's gone."

She took a deep breath. "I just remembered that I'm only a third elite, Amity is the current captain so it's her decision if she'll admit you guys to the club."

The twins looked at each other in slight confusion, bursting out of laughter seconds later.

Emira chuckled and placed her arm around Luz. "Awh,  we're so scared!"

Her brother kept holding in his laughter. "Don't be down so much, kiddo. We're here to stay!"

Luz's eyes widened. "Huh, what do you mean? Your sister wants you out of the club!"

"If only it was that simple." Emira started and kneeled to match the freshman's height. "You see, I'm the first standing elite in the illusion club, and that makes me higher than Mittens."

"And! We're her older siblings! Our Mother will end her if she doesn't get along with us."

An irresistible smile formed on Luz's face. "Wait, really?!" She excitingly yelled.

"Yup. All these years Mittens had been so focused on her dance career and all, she barely spends any time with her siblings nor her family."

Luz glanced at the elite. There she saw that she was now more angered and disturbed than before, it was clear because her face now reddened like an angry tomato, literally.

"Are you sure? She looks like she's capable of killing you two-"

The older sister laughed. "She does, but don't you worry! She needs this, for the sake of our relationship as a family."

Luz nodded and rushed back to Amity. "You okay? You heard what they said right-" Before Luz could even finish, Amity walked out.

At that exact moment, the freshman felt her heart sank. The weird feeling came back to Luz's chest as their leader walk towards the rest of her team.

"Damn, it's this feeling again." She held it in from showing. "Ouch."

After several seconds of silence among the teens, Emira saw how her sister and the freshman reacted after the situation so she decided to break the silence by stomping down her foot down, creating a loud noise that gathered all the students' attention.

"Listen up, twats-" There she was interrupted when one of the crew members signaled her to be quiet.

Emira arched an eyebrow and looked at the teen. In specific, the one who silenced her was the same teen she admired earlier.

"Huh?" she shrugged at the teen, asking why she stopped her.

Viney silently chuckled and pointed at a person's shadow in the window. It was there for a few seconds but it walked away.

"Phew, that was an elite. Thanks, stranger." Emira winked at the second year. "Anyways, now that we're clear, if you guys want to win this competition, then we better start practicing!"

Edric rushed towards the other members. "Yeah! We'll show Boschy that we can manage this club without her!"

"It's Boscha" Willow giggled.

"Eh, whatever her name maybe, she's still an idiot."

Emira followed from behind. "Forget about that witch, for now, we gotta make a game plan that is so much better than hers!'

Jerbo took something out of his bag. "Oh, we already made a plan but we aren't sure of it- Hey!" Edric snatched the journal from the teen as she smoothly slides by the teen.

"And I'll take that thank you very much!" He laughed before examining the routine written inside. "Hm, what do we have here?"

Emira walked over to her brother to read Luz's strategy for the qualifying matches. They were both nodding in some pages as they flip all over the drawings and messages written while some just left them emotionless.

This worried Luz and her team. Only by watching the twin's expressions change they knew they had a flaw in their plan.

After a few minutes, Edric closed the journal with one hand and threw it to Jerbo.

"So, how was it?" Luz was quick to ask. Others followed behind her with anticipation for the twin's response.

"It was good, I supposed." Edric calmly answered. "But, I feel like it's missing something."

Emira thought about it too. "Yeah, I feel like we can make it better." She started while walking to the desk where the music player is placed.

Edric reached on his hand for Jerbo. "We still have a few minutes before the first-period starts, you guys want us to  help?"

"Wanna help me do some changes, Luz? I promise we'll make it better."

Luz immediately nodded and ran over to the older teen, leaving one teen alone near the seating area. And there, the whole team was focused on the two elites while Amity watched from behind, feeling powerless and unwanted.

-

Several hours passed and all of the classrooms were about to be dismissed. As usual, Luz was the first one to rush out of the classroom as soon as the bell rang.

Luckily for them, Luz's class, "Room 102" is the first class dismissed amongst all the other sections because her teacher cant takes any more of her class's stupidity.

Alongside Luz running in the hallways was King who was now smoothly riding in his skateboard. "Dismissed early, eh?"

Luz began to run faster to match up with King's speed. "Yeah! You too?"

"Nope, I just told them I was going to the bathroom. And guess what? I'm never coming back, haha!"

"You're laugh is so adorable, I could squish you right now." Luz awed.

"In your dreams, sister!" The boy laughed before taking the lead ahead. "Hurry up or I'm keeping the club room all to myself!"

"Oh no, you don't!" The freshman laughed, running after her friend.

Minutes later after their arrival, Willow and the rest of her crewmates came one by one. And of course, Edric, Emira, and Amity were the last members to come since they had their own separate elite duties.

After securing the doors and windows, Luz gladly started the meeting by gathering everybody on stage to arrange their formation.

"Is everybody here?"

"You blind? We're 10, count." Amity growled.

Emira laughed. 'Sorry about our Mittens, she just can't accept that her cool siblings are here with her."

"And yet, she can't do anything about it," Edric added, making the elite even more pissed.

"Right..." Luz nervously chuckled. "I think we still have a few hours before school closes up." She looked down on the team's journal. "I think it's best if Amity will guide us with this one."

"Wait, what?"

"I mean, you're our team captain, and you already have a lot of experience training with others! Isn't that what you and Boscha do?"

Amity was speechless for a few seconds, hesitating to grab the journal from the freshman. "I-I..." She stuttered.

Once again, her siblings were quick to rush to the scene. Emira gently placed the journal on Luz's chest, giving her a wink after.

"I think Mittens still processing her brain cells, she couldn't even speak properly." Edric poked her sister's cheeks.

"Yeah, I think you should lead for now." Emira started before looking back to Amity. Just by taking one glance at her younger sister, she knew exactly what's on her mind and what she could do to save this opportunity.

"Hm, for all I know, Boscha and Skara are the ones who rule this club, Amity just follows it."

Amity's eyes widened. "W-what? No! I and Boscha are the elites and-"

"Shush, Amity, I'm not done yet." She added. "It's clear that my sister has no experience leading others that much like Boscha. But, with you by her side, I think she could learn."

Everybody in the room looked at each other, figuring out who was the one being mentioned. But when Emira shifted her gaze to the freshman, everybody followed, even Amity.

Luz slowly pointed at herself. "M-me? How?"

Amity's older sister chuckled and walked between her and Luz. "Just think about it, it's very simple. With Luz's leadership, talent, and passion combined with Amity's level, you two will be an unstoppable duo."

The elite pushed her sister away. "Wha- That doesn't even make sense!"

"It does, sis! You had some experience with your old team right? It's a fact that you watched and envied your pink-haired friend's leadership and how she controlled her club with just a snap of her finger."

"What your sister is trying to say is," Edric joined in the conversation. "If you combined your current leadership skill with Luz, you could run this club together."

"You two can learn together!"

Now that even some of the other club members were getting involved, Emira took the chance to walk behind Luz and gently pushed her towards Amity.

Edric on the other hand did the same to Amity, causing the two teens to be much closer to each other.

They may have difficulties at first when Luz appeared, but after thinking about what Amity's siblings told them, Luz eventually agreed with the thought.

But as for Amity, she was still speechless, undecided that is. Now that the two are forced to be closer, their first reaction was to share the same nervous expression.

Both teen's cheeks were turning red and heart was suddenly beating faster than ever. All they could do was look at each other's eyes. What made the situation even more romantic was when Augustus and King played a romance-themed song in the back as a joke.

Light's were reflecting onto Amity's golden eyes, and yet, Luz can see the fear and sadness from it. As for the elite, everything surrounding her became inaudible. Her focus was only on the freshman herself.

Not long after, Luz snapped out of her thoughts. She quickly backed away and faced Gus and King. "I swear it's in the worse timing to play that song!"

With her face still redden, Luz quickly ran out of the room through the back door to get away from the cheering and teasing crowd behind her.

"I need some air, I'll be right back." She muttered before slamming the door shut.

Amity tried to follow as soon as she walked away from them but her siblings were quick to stop her.

"Awh, Mittens is chasing after her friend." Edric covered her way. "This is the first time I saw you this worried for your friends."

"Yeah, I guess that freshman is something to you, huh?" Her sister winked in a teasing way.

"Get out of  my way!"

While the tension between the Blights started to worsen, Luz stood outside the room to catch some air. Both her hands were inside her hoodie's pockets and she wore her hood to avoid any suspicion from any elites nearby.

From what just happened earlier, she couldn't help but think of what she felt when she met Amity's eyes. She could still see that fear was being shown when she met the elite's eyes but she couldn't figure out why.

All of this was enough to make her feel something she didn't feel before. At first, she was confused and she tried to control it, but as only two days pass by, it began to grow. And it only triggers whenever she sees or interacts with Amity.

She placed her hand on her heart, tightly holding her hoodie. "What is this? I've only known them for 2 days and now I feel like I'm a mess."

"What is this feeling?" She looked at her palm.

But before she could figure out her own question, someone startled her from behind, making the freshman lose balance and fall down

"Ah!" She gasped, making her hoodie fall off. When she looked up, there she saw their team captain offering her a hand up.

"Amity?" She stuttered before accepting her hand to get back to her feet. "What are you doing out here?"

The two-toned-haired teen took a deep breath. "I couldn't take Ed and Em's voice anymore, so I decided to check up on you." She crossed her arms.

"It sounds like you actually care about me-" Luz tried to tease her but she paused as soon as she saw Amity's "I'm gonna kill you" face.

"Sorry, hehe. Anyways- Woah!" She gasped when she felt the elite grab her hand and rush towards another building in the distance.

"H-hey! Where are we going?" She nervously asked. "Slow down!"

"Can't," Amity calmly replied. "I lost track of time!"

The freshman arched an eyebrow at her. "Huh? What do you mean-"

"We're about to be late for our meeting with the other elites, you nitwit!"
