{{Chapter 12}}
A day has now passed after attending Hexside's first day for its new semester, making the current day the second attendance.
Based on what happened yesterday, the freshman, Luz Noceda, took her time to scout around her surroundings to avoid any accidents similar to yesterday
She may stand out from the rest of the students roaming around the campus, and yet none of them seem to care about her. Others did laugh and gossip about Luz's weird actions while upper elites scanned her.
As a known fact in the campus, whenever an elite, regardless of its club, examine or interacts with you, the chances of you being vulnerable increases as gossips are quick to spread among the standing elites in every club
But after Luz was promoted into a 3rd elite in the dance track, she was still unaware of why some of the elites were glaring at her
Sadly, the young freshman had no idea about the popularity and elite system in her new school. She only ignored them and waved "hello" to the ones who look less intimidating.
As soon as she stepped her foot down on the halls, an irresistible smile quickly formed on her face, recalling the recent discussion from her crewmates yesterday.
She looked down, rolling up her sleeve to reveal a wristwatch. "there's still enough time, I'm not gonna waste that."
And with that, she quickly ran towards her designated club, dodging everyone with the help of her fast reflexes.
In a matter of seconds, Luz managed to get inside the dance room using the back door just like they had planned. When she turned around, she was immediately greeted by some of the members.
After locking the door and securing their view from the outside, she glanced around the room and saw Viney and her friends running towards her as Willow, Augustus, and King followed from behind
She chuckled softly, still catching her breath from all the running. "Hey guys, glad to see you all here."
Jerbo was the first one to approach. "Luz! Thank God you're here, we were worried about getting suspected by the other elites."
"Yeah, you okay? We need to tell you something important." the application for this club is still open,"
Luz arched an eyebrow at her before taking the bottle from her fellow member. "What's going on? What about the other elites, jerbo?"
King ran beside the freshman. "Haven't you heard? The elites are talking about you!"
"So? Is that bad?"
"Oh right, you're new. You probably don't know the elite system we follow here at Hexside." Viney glanced at Willow.
Willow nodded and faced back to Luz. "Well, Luz, you see... Ever since Skara and the original casts left, some of them reported your appearance to the upper elites. They even included the time when you fought back to Amity and Boscha."
"And now they're on the hunt for you! I think they wanted to ask you something and-" Gus was interrupted.
"Woah, Woah slow down, champ. The elites are targeting me?! But why? I thought they were just a bunch of overconfident jerks, like Amity!"
"Shh, lower your voice! They might hear us from the outside." Jerbo started, peeking at a small open area in the window. "Those elites knew that this club was closed momentarily until Boscha comes back after recovering."
"So... Does Boscha know I destroyed and somehow disbanded her whole team?" Luz nervously asked, stuttering in some parts.
Willow adjusted her glasses. "Not yet, I made sure of it."
Augustus faced his friend. "Wait, you did? I thought the other elites have to get to Boscha first before anyone-"
"Shush now, child. I took care of Boscha, it's all settled."
Luz let out a relieving sigh. "Oh thank the Titans, I don't know how you did it, Willow, but thanks. Boscha will surely kill me if she finds out."
"As for now, I received news from her, telling that she might return after the qualifying matches, which means we still have time to beg the original casts back to the club."
"But." Luz stuttered, glancing at the recruits beside her. "But that means-"
"Yes, we know, Luz, and we all agreed on it."
Luz walked up to Viney. "You did what?! Since when? Why didn't you guys called me?! And what's this stuff about the elites? Are they like a clan, all being connected even though they have different clubs at hand?"
"Kinda, they're like the head society that holds the school, aside from Principal Bump himself, the Elites are the most powerful head in Hexside."
Viney sighed and took her friend's hand, leading her to the nearby rest area. "Calm down Luz, it was not an important topic after all-"
"NOT AN IMPORTANT TOPIC-" Once again, Luz was interrupted when Gus quickly covered her mouth with a handkerchief.
With her continuous screams now being muffled by the handkerchief, it gave Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus the chance to tell everything to their 2nd in command.
"Calm down dude! It's okay, we know we're only temporary.." Viney added with a weak forced smile.
Jerbo sighed, placing his hand behind his neck. "Yeah, we just heard about what happened to you, Amity and Boscha. We know this wasn't all your fault."
"I and Willow already talked about it, after the qualifying matches, we'll help you recover all the former members so everything can be back to normal."
Luz eventually managed to escape Augustus' hold. "Pwe!" She stammered as soon as Gus lost his grip on the handkerchief in her mouth.
"You can't just leave like that! We're the underdogs and we're not gonna give up that easily! I'll take care of Boscha!"
"No need, Luz. Boscha's an upper elite! Who know's what she'll do to you when she sees us unwanted underdogs on her team! She might as well make sure you would never dance again."
Luz gulped down, showing slight fear. "R-really? She can do that and get away with it?!"
Willow chuckled. "She's one of the upper elites, of course, she can. I heard rumors about her beating up a kid in the Dance track last year because he wanted to overtake her title."
"Oh yeah!" Viney recalled the event. "I and Boscha were in the same class that day, I remember she skipped chemistry class because of "Important Elite reasons." And when she came back, she was all bruised and beaten up."
"Why didn't you do anything, Were there any teachers at that time?"
"Oh there was, but no one minded her. You see, The upper elites, aka the 1st elite in every club, have the same level as the teachers and faculty members here. They can basically do whatever they want and get away with it."
"Then report them to the freaking Principal for Titan's sake!" The freshman yelled out the response.
"Oh trust me, we can't do anything about it. Being an upper elite means you have all of your fellow elites to back you up. It's basically corrupting our school's moral codes.
Augustus sat down beside Luz. "I'm surprised Prinicipal Bump isn't doing anything about this."
"He doesn't know it, all elites keep each other's secrets from spilling. Any word mentioned to the Principal might end the elite system. Those jerks will do anything to keep their title and superiority."
Luz sighed and got back to her feet. "Why did you guys only told me this today? Do you recall that Boscha literally made me an official elite!" She paused.
She just stood there, showing a reaction of disgust after hearing all of her crewmates' warns about the truth of being an elite.
Suddenly, her expression eventually faded, turning into a nervous smile, making the others stop talking to check up on her.
"L-Luz?"
"If only I knew what the elites do in the first place, I shouldn't have accepted Boscha's promotion. What kind of jerks make some dumb society where they act superior to others!" Luz shouted in slight rage.
"I wanted to stand up against Elites and show them what's right, I don't want to be a part of them, but I'm guessing you can't just give away your title that easily, huh?"
She chuckled softly."I wonder what will happen to me?"
"For now, some elites are on the hunt for you, they probably want to ask you a few questions about you and Amity. Also, they strongly don't tolerate the disrespect of our "mighty" elite clan.
"Amity, what does she have to do - Oh right, that jerk's an elite. Great." Luz's facepalmed, walking towards the boombox. "Whatever it may take, I promise I'll fix everything."
"Huh ?' Others gasped.
She then faced the rest of her team. "So we better start planning a new routine for the qualifying matches. I know it may seem hard for us rookies to build up this team but I know we can secure a spot at the competition next week!"
"You idiot," Viney smirked, admiring Luz's quick comeback of confidence.
Luz continued. "I may have messed things up with Boscha and the elites but I'm here to fix that, I'm going to need you guys to help me secure a spot on the qualifying matches, and by that way, we can just peacefully hand the club over back to Boscha..."
"Yes, they might kick us out as soon as Boscha takes charge of it again, but think about the experience we'll receive during this whole week? Imagine the cool things we can learn! Plus this thing just brings us a step closer to our dreams."
"Preach." Augustus shed a single tear.
"We're gonna train all day and night for this thing, I'm not stopping until I can prove Amity wrong about underestimating us underdogs. Now, who's with me?"
As Luz raised her fist in the air, the new members didn't take long to follow her lead and cheer her on. With her confidence and passion for the dancing career, everybody knew Luz was being serious about her declaration.
"Now that's more like it! Alright, before we start, are we complete?" She asked while opening the box full of music-filled DVDs.
But when no one responded to her, she slowly turned around and took the time to count all of them. Seconds later, she finally realized who was missing.
"Is she... coming back?" The freshman asked in a weakened tone in her voice.
Willow patted Luz's shoulders. "Don't worry, she'll be back. I'm sure sh's just running late and-"
At that same moment, the front doors were kicked open, making all of the teens inside stunned.
By the light shining above them, it was difficult to see who was the one who broke open the doors. They had made sure that it was locked but it was just simply open by one powerful kick.
At this point, all of them figured out it might be an elite. Now that it stood in front of all of them, everybody began to panic, all except for Luz.
"Who's there?" The freshman was first to ask as she placed her hand above her eyes to try to get a clearer view of the stranger.
Not long after its appearance, they immediately closed the door, blocking the light coming from the hallways. And that's where they finally got a clear view of who it was.
Luz gasped. "Amity? Why did you go through the front door? They might have seen you come in!"
"And how in the world did you open that door, it was locked, me and Barcus made sure of it," Jerbo asked in confusion.
But when Luz took a few steps closer to the teen, it is there when she realized the left-out tears in her eyes.
"Was she crying again?" Luz's eyes widened as she asked herself. "Hey, you okay?"
without saying any response, Amity quickly rushed past Luz to approach the rest of the crew, leaving Luz behind with a worried feeling.
"No time, and don't worry, I've been staying in this club for months, the entrance door is already broken, and locking it is no use."
Jerbo's eyes widened. "Quick, Barcus! Get the chairs now we need to barricade it!"
His friend followed as they ran into separate ways to gather the scattered chairs around the room, piling it all up in front of the door to cover its path.
While the two secure the room, Amity stood up in front of the stage and gathered everyone. As an original Dance track elite, Viney and King were still afraid of her." Once all were gathered in front of the stage, Amity took the chance to announce something.
"Listen up, the other elites have told me that Boscha will be back in a couple of days, maybe even after qualifying matches. Also, Noceda's title has been approved by Boscha, making her the current 3rd elite of this club."
"Should I be worried of your little elite jerk friends, Amity?" Luz started, crossing her arms to her chest. "Look, I don't want to be an elite anymore, I don't want to be feared by anyone."
Amity rolled her eyes. "Well, that's a shame, Noceda, because I don't make the rules around here. There must be a valid reason for your title's surrender."
"Who even makes these rules? They're so dumb and-"
But before Luz could even finish, they heard voices calling from the backdoor. And by the looks of it, Amity was the first one to respond to the unknown caller.
Her eyes widened as clear fear displayed in her eyes. When Luz realized it, she immediately stepped in front of the teen and made her step back.
"What the? They found our only entrance." She whispered in a tone where her crewmates can hear them.
Viney pulled Barcus to the back. "Oh crap, I recognized that voice... Do you think it might be one of them?"
"It might be, if they find us in here, we're doomed!" King panicked before running behind a chair.
As the rest started to panic, Amity finally spoke up, making all of their attention diverted to her. "I recognized that voice anywhere..."
"It's an elite, he's the main head of the emperor's track, the highest among all elites and clubs."
"Oh shoot, they found us, what are they going to us!?"
Luz slowly walked towards the door, avoiding creating any noise from the wooden floor. "Relax guys, they don't know that was in here, we should just probably-"
"WE KNOW SOMEBODY IN HERE, SHOW YOURSELF, LUZ NOCEDA!"
"Well, crud-"
King shrugged and placed down his skateboard. "I guess this is the part we're all gonna die." He started, stepping on his board. "Ha, sike! There's no way I'm gonna die today, adios suckers- AH!"
Before King could even skate away, Willow was quick to grab his collar. "No one said we're gonna die today, King."
"Yes and that's because you guys are gonna die and not me, now let me go!" He whisper-shouted with his signature adorable squeal.
"Can you two stop talking! I can still hear someone talking outside." Amity shushed both of them.
When she turned her attention to Luz, her eyes widened when she saw that the freshman was about to open the doors.
"L-Luz what are you doing?"
"Once I opened this door, I want you guys to unbarricade the other entrance and get back to your classes."
Amity gasped. "What? No, we can't just leave you here!"
A smile suddenly formed on her face. "It sounds like you actually cared about me for once, Blight."
The elite's cheeks reddened from the thought. "Okay that's it was leaving you, come on guys." She quickly replied as she ran for the second exit.
"Wait what no! I was just kidding, oh come on, Ams I-" Luz paused, holding in her laughter from bursting out. "Ugh fine, I guess I have to do something about these elites before they hurt my friends."
After all of her team were ready to escape, Luz took one last breath before twisting the doorknob open. And yet, the sound of two people chattering outside stopped.
She then closed her eyes and hoped that no one stood in front of her. There, she waited for a response from the elite but instead, "they?" laughed.
"Huh?" Luz opened her eyes when she heard the laughter of two teens.
But when she realized who stood in front of her, she slowly backed away, going back inside the room.
"Are you two the elites?" She nervously asked.
The two strangers looked at each other and smiled. "Don't worry kiddo, those elites are gone, we got rid of them." The male teen replied.
"And those elites came from the emperor's track, I supposed you're in big trouble, cutie." The female one chuckled.
"Uhm, who are you two? Why are you here? If your secretly working for the elites, then take me away!" She reached out her arms forwards, showing slight dramatic scenery.
The boy laughed. "Nope, I already told you that those jerks were gone, we're actually here for someone."
Luz arched an eyebrow." Oh, well, who is it?"
The girl peeked inside the room, glancing around the place to look for someone in specific. Not long after, she finally smiled.
"Ah, there she is. We're just delivering this lunch bag to a fellow elite."
The unnamed boy leaned on the door's side. "Heya, Mittens, it's a surprise to see you here with all these troublemakers."
When Luz followed both their gaze, it all led up to a certain two-toned teen in the distance. Amity's worried expression faded, turning into an angered one once she saw the two unknown strangers.
"Edric, Emira. How did you two found me?"
