🐑 In the snow 🐑

I shivered slightly as the cold breeze tugged at my face and the gentle frozen flakes of snow landed on my skin. I had a beanie on covering most of my hair and even though I had dressed warm I was still freezing. The ground beneath my feet was white and everywhere around me had a thick blanket of the white powder.

I turned my attention back to my mother and father who took pictures of my little siblings making messes of themselves. Their tiny cheeks a light pink and the smiles they had making my heart happy.

"(Y/n)?"

I tensed up when I heard someone say my name and worried it was classmate I didn't want to talk with. I waited for a bit my breath coming out in tiny fogs as the person then tapped my shoulder. Apparently ignoring them wouldn't work.

I bit my bottom lip as I looked to the see who was bugging me. To my surprise it was a tall boy with dark hair and hazel eyes. His name is Ryder James and I had never actually spoken to him till now. He had transferred to my school almost a month ago and even though I knew him from Tik Tok I couldn't bring myself to actually say a word to him. I was far to nervous for that.

"Ryder? Hi! What are you doing here?" I cursed myself for sounding as happy as I did and automatically wished I had said something completely different. Maybe I could pretend I heard my mom calling and rush away. She would cover for me.

"I live on the other side of the tracks."

I felt my heart skip a beat when I realized that meant he was literally a short walk from my home this whole time. "What if we walked to school together?"

My eyes widened and a clamped a hand over my mouth realizing instead of thinking that I had said if out loud. I really could mess up worse could I. I glanced at him and his face was slightly red. I couldn't tell if it was blush or because the icy weather but I hoped this wouldn't make things even more awkward.

"I-i...that sounds great heh. I was k-kinda hoping we could hang out cause you seem cool. Is that your family?"

I exhaled the breath I had been holding in and tried to get the thought of us walking together every morning out of my head as I looked to where he was pointing. Sure enough I saw my father looking directly at us with a annoyed expression.

"Yeah. That's my mom and dad with my little siblings. Mayzee and Draven....you want to play with them? They are pretty cute and that way you could meet my parents."

Seriously I needed to stop talking but I was so desperate for him to stay. I prayed to the Lord that if Ryder said yes that everyone would be polite and seem more likeable. That could sound rude but I really wanted things to go well.

"Okay."

I plastered a smile on my face and did my best to stay calm as I introduced him to everyone. While he was talking to my dad I noticed that there was a perfectly round ball of snow at my feet. I could have very easily left it there and not even cared but being the dork that I am I picked it up.

I felt a rush of excitement as I tossed it and watched the it explode against Ryder's coated back. I couldn't help but giggle as he turned around. I pointed to my little sister but he was already making a snowball go get back at me.

I started to laugh as I dodged it and ducked behind my mother's car. I could hear my siblings as they laughed with me at us being silly. I'm pretty sure I even heard my father chuckle.

I jumped as I felt a thump on my arm and turned around to see Ryder with a huge smile. I played games most of my life and was pretty good at them so I knew I could win. "Your on!"

The end
