[(Y/N)'s POV]

Alexis: "Do you ever think, 'What's the point?' To life I mean."

Me: "No not really. I just kinda... I don't know, live."

I laid on my back, with my head on Alexis' lap as she ran her fingers through my hair. Her blue eyes looked down at me, her black hair hanging down.

Alexis: "You never were one to think into things. But don't you think this war is pointless?"

Me: "Of course I do. But it's just natural for people to fight. Look back at human history. We started wars over religion and territory. In the end nothing was really solved."

Alexis: "I'd like to think humanity has more to offer then bloodshed. We've colonized space, created technology that was only science fiction. Don't you think we have more to offer?"

I yawned.

Me: "I don't really have faith in humanity, I only live for moments like these."

Alexis: "When we're not knee deep in dead bodies?"

Me: "Yup, when I can sit here, relax, and spend time with the girl of my dreams."

I began to doze off.

Alexis: "Hey... don't fall asleep on me, I want to talk before...wake up... wake up... wake up..."

Scarlet: "Wake up!"

I suddenly opened my eyes and gasped looking around frantically. I was in the pelican, only the hull was crushed in slightly and I could barely see.

Me: "How long was I out?"

Scarlet: "3 hours, 17 minutes, and 24 seconds."

Me: "Check vitals."

Scarlet: "Brain activity, normal. Heart rate, increased. Skeletal structure, intact."

I looked over to my left and saw the pilot, dead. I sighed.

Me: "Scarlet, easiest way out?"

A waypoint appeared on my hud, marking the windshield. I drew my leg back and kicked the glass out. I then got out of the pelican and looked around. It was pitch black, but I could make out some trees.

Me: "Scarlet, night vision."

My night vision turned on and I looked around. I was in a clearing, with nothing in sight.

Me: "A forest? Alright, let's just hope this planet is inhabited. Scarlet, can you get me a line to command?"

She was quiet for a moment.

Scarlet: "I cannot."

Me: "Alright, what planet are we on?"

Scarlet: "Please look up."

I looked up to the sky, I just now noticed the shattered moon and stars.

Scarlet: "Unknown."

Me: "Okay... how about the sector?"

Scarlet: "Unknown."

Me: "Scarlet, run diagnostics on your sensors."

Scarlet: "All systems running normal."

I sighed.

Me: "This is just great, just fu-"

Scarlet: "Multiple life signatures approaching. Unknown species, I advice caution."

I walked over to the side of the pelican and found the weapon storage. I then kicked the hatch off and grabbed my weapons, my shotgun, an assault rifle, and a magnum.

Me: "What direction?"

Scarlet: "They've surrounded us, and are closing in quickly."

I jumped on top of the pelican and got ready.

Me: "Well, time to greet the locals."

I held my assault rifle and shotgun out, pointing to my left and right. I cracked my neck and waited. I heard growling and suddenly a wolf like creature came charging at me. It had some kind of mask on, and its eyes glowed red. I instantly aimed my shotgun at it and waited for it to get closer. As it was nearly touching the barrel of my gun, I pulled the trigger sending it flying backwards. More appeared, in increasing numbers.

Me: "Scarlet, keep an eye on my ammo. I don't have any extra ammo on me."

Scarlet: "Will do."

I began firing at the wolves with the assault rifle, taking down quite a few of them.

Scarlet: "10 shots remaining.... 8 shots remaining.... 5 shots remaining... clip empty."

I threw the rifle at one of the wolves, knocking it back. I then pulled out my magnum and shot it in the head. They seemed to keep coming, no matter how many I killed. I kept shooting with the magnum until it was empty, I then put it on my side and waited for more to get closer to use my shotgun.

Scarlet: "Left."

I quickly turned to the left and shoved the barrel of my shotgun into the mouth of the attacking wolf. I pulled the trigger and blew its head off.

Scarlet: "3 shots remaining."

More poured out of the trees.

Me: "Well, unless you guys want to get in a neat orderly line, I guess I'll come to you!"

I jumped off the pelican and planted my feet into the first wolf's head, crushing it beneath me. I quickly killed three more with my remaining rounds, then smashed my shotgun into another wolf's skull. I then pulled out my combat knife and began dodging attacks while killing as many as I could. 

Scarlet: "Behind you."

I turned and held my knife out, blocking the jaws of a wolf. My knife snapped in its jaws as I kicked it back.

Me: "Scarlet, boost my strength!"

Scarlet: "How much?"

Me: "All the way!"

I charged forward and punched the wolf. It went flying backwards and knocked down a tree.

Me: "How long can you keep this up?"

Scarlet: "A little over 10 minutes."

Me: "Let's make this quick then."

[Time Skip, 10 Minutes]

I breathed out heavily and sat up against the pelican. I was out of breath from all the fighting, my shield almost got depleted, but they stopped coming.

Me: "Hey... Scarlet...? What was the final kill count?"

Scarlet: "436"

Me: "Ah... felt like.... more..."

I reached to the back of my head and pulled the AI chip out. I held it out in my hand and watched as a full body AI appeared.

Scarlet: "Yes?"

Me: "How long has it been?"

Scarlet: "Since the crash? It's been-"

Me: "No. since Alexis."

Scarlet: "4 years 10 months and 17 days."

Me: "When does it unlock?"

Scarlet: "2 months and 13 days, at exactly midnight."

Me: "And I can't talk you into letting me hear it now?"

Scarlet: "It would be against her wish. Why now?"

Me: "Just... thinking... plus I'm not too sure we're gonna make it out of this one."

Scarlet: "That's quite out of character."

Me: "Yeah you're right.... Well, no rest for the wicked."

I hoisted myself up and grabbed the shotgun on the ground.

Me: "There's spare ammo in the pelican, I'll grab all I can and head out."

Scarlet: "Life signs approaching. Human. Four of them."

Me: "Probably heard all the gunfire. Any ID tags?"

Scarlet: "None."

I put the AI chip back in my helmet and ran to the back of the pelican. With a bit of work and some force I pried open the bay doors. I went in and filled up my ammo for my shotgun and magnum, then grabbed some frag grenades. I was about to turn and leave when I noticed the energy sword I used against the elite laying on the ground. I picked it up and put it on my side, then jogged outside of the pelican.

Me: "Which direction are they coming from?"

Scarlet: "Directly in front of us."

Me: "Let's hope their friendly."

I waited for a few moments, until finally four females emerged. Each of them seemed to have a certain color scheme, one red, one white, one black, and finally one yellow. The one in red seemed to be carrying a large scythe, which matched her color scheme. The one in white held some kind of sword, it looked like a rapier style blade. The one in black held a black katana like sword with a ribbon on the end of it. The one in yellow didn't seem to have a weapon, only gauntlets. I pulled out my shotgun, just in case since they were armed.

Me: "Don't suppose you four are from triple A?"

Red: "Triple A?"

Me: "It's a joke, anyway what planet am I on?"

Red: "Uh... Remnant?"

Me: "Scarlet, search Remnant in the UNSC database."

I waited a moment.

White: "Who are you-"

Scarlet: "No match found."

I sighed. I then looked to the four girls as they looked around confused.

Me: "That was Scarlet. She's my AI."

Red: "You're what?"

I pulled her chip out from my helmet and held it out in my hand as her hologram appeared.

Me: "An Artificial Intelligence."

Red: "So cool..."

She suddenly zoomed forward and looked closely at Scarlet. Her speed was incredible, I could barely see her.

Me: "So... what's the technological scale of this planet?"

Red: "The... the what now?"

Me: "Can I talk to someone other then little Red Ridding Hood over here?"

The other three approached.

Me: "Alright, so what's the technology like on this planet?"

White: "Well, Atlas leads the world in advanced robotics."

Me: "Robots? But you've never seen an AI? Alright.... what about space travel?"

White: "Space travel isn't possible, all dust losses power as it leaves Remnant's atmosphere."

Me: "And dust is?"

White: "You don't know what dust is? What kind of dolt are you? Dust, the thing that powers everything on the planet."

Me: "Yeah, listen Snow White, if you haven't noticed I'm not from this planet."

I pointed behind me to my wreck pelican.

Me: "And I'm guessing since you think space travel is impossible you have no god damn clue what the UNSC is, right?"

They shook their heads. I felt myself getting a headache from trying to figure out a way to get off this damn planet.

Me: "Alright. So no space travel, no connection to the UNSC, hell, I don't even know what god damn sector I'm in.... the pelican is broken beyond repair, pilots dead, ammo is limited, and this planet has hordes of demonic animals. Awesome."

I put Scarlet's AI chip back in my helmet.

Me: "Alright, mind taking me to wherever there's a city?"

Yellow: "Woe, woe, woe. How about you tell us what happened first. We don't exactly believe that you're from space."

Me: "Fine, come here."

I pulled Scarlet's AI chip out again.

Me: "Scarlet, play back video recording from right before the crash."

Scarlet: "One moment."

Instead of Scarlet's hologram a video hologram began to play.

[Time Skip, After Video]

Me: "See? Now can we get going?"

They just nodded. They were obviously stunned.

Red: "Wait, guys what about the pack of Beowulves we were tracking? We can't just abandon the mission."

Me: "Beowulves? Creatures with white masks and black fur?"

Red: "Yeah! Have you seen them?"

I chuckled.

Me: "You're standing on them."

I turned on my helmet light and looked down, for some reason after I killed the "Beowulves" they turned to this black dust like substance, the entire clearing I was in was covered in it after the fight. I turned back to the four girls, they looked stunned.

White: "But... there were supposed to be over 400 of them... this was supposed to be a three week mission... you couldn't have done this in a day."

Me: "Actually it was more like 15 minutes or so."

Red: "We were supposed to slowly hunt them all and chip them away... how did you fight an entire horde by yourself...?"

Me: "Trust me, isn't the first time I've fought a small army. This was actually easier, since they didn't have guns. I'm gonna grab everything I can carry from the pelican, then we can head out."

I walked off and got into the bay of the pelican then started gather things I'd need.
