Chapter 6: Deathless
[Time Skip, Days Later]
I sat at the desk in my room and worked on homework one of the teachers assigned. The work wasn't hard, nor was it numerous, but it was enough to make me sit down and dedicate an hour or so to it. Luna sat beside me, watching my hand move across the blank piece of paper, her glowing red eyes seemed just as bored as mine. Suddenly there was a knock at my door. I welcomed the distraction and got up swiftly. I moved to the door and opened it, revealing the young leader of Team RWBY, Ruby Rose.
Ruby: "Hi (Y/N)!"
Me: "Hey Ruby, something you need?"
Ruby: "Not really,... I just uh... wanted to... see if you'd... like to go for a walk with me."
She seemed nervous and her face had a tint of red. I looked back at my desk, still seeing the paper I had yet to complete. I thought for no more than a second before returning my gaze to Ruby.
Me: "Sounds nice to me."
[Time Skip, Brought To You By Chibi (Y/N) Playing Fetch With Luna]
Ruby and I walked down the streets of Vale. Ruby had shown me multiple places of interest. Mostly bakeries and weapon shops.
Ruby: "So then Yang chased after him for half an hour."
Me: "All because he accidentally messed up her hair?"
Ruby: "Yup. She's a real... Hot head."
Ruby smirked at me, obviously looking for a reaction from the bad pun she made.
Me: "I'd leave the bad puns to Yang."
Ruby: "Awwww...."
She pouted.
[Author's POV]
As the two students walked further into Vale Ruby spotted something darting from an alleyway. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a small kitten. It had black fur and one blue eye, the other was a hazel color. It ran towards the two and looked up at the female.
Ruby: "Awwww, it's so cute!"
Ruby bent down to pick it up, but it sudden bolted across the street.
Ruby: "Noooo... Come back kitty!"
Ruby ran after it, obviously determined to capture the cat. Unfortunately, she failed to see the large truck speeding down the road towards her. However (Y/N) had noticed and already began moving. He knew he could easily stop the truck but at the cost of the human driving. He could simply speed towards Ruby and tackle her out of the way, but at his fastest speed, it could cause harm to Ruby, seeing as she was only at a quickened pace. So, seeing no real option (Y/N) bolted forward and stopped just behind Ruby and pushed her out of the way of the speeding vehicle. He had no time to react as the truck collided with him, instantly shattering a large number of bones. Ruby could only look in horror as she landed on her back, having a front row seat to the gruesome accident ensuing, but, despite the situation, (Y/N) had a calm look on his face and simply mouthed the words "Don't Look". Blood sprayed as the sickening symphony of cracking bone and tearing flesh filled the air. The simple force from the impact was more than enough to rip (Y/N) apart, ripping an arm from the socket, twisting a leg at a gruesome angle, severing the spinal cord, and bursting multiple organs. Just now the sonic-boom from (Y/N)'s previous action hit. (Y/N)'s body caved and went under the truck, furthering the damage. For Ruby it felt like hours, having to watch the blood fall to the ground, the severed limb plummets to the earth and slide across the ground. For (Y/N) however, this was no more than a simple action. Conscious for the entire event, even though the unlucky boy's head had gotten in the way of the speeding truck's tires, crushing his skull as if it were a grape. The truck finally passed over the male and screeched to a stop some distance away. For only a moment Ruby looked at the motionless pile of guts, body parts, and bones that was (Y/N), until the bone began to assemble back together, followed by nerves, muscle, and tendons, then the flesh. Any injuries still visible quickly healed and closed without a trace. The male's eyes slowly opened as he sat up and looked at Ruby.
(Y/N): "..."
The male opened his mouth to speak but his voice wouldn't come. He waited a moment then tried again.
(Y/N): "Are you alright?"
(Y/N): 'Odd, why did it take longer for my vocal cords to heal?'
Suddenly he was tackled into a hug by Ruby, who had tears pouring from her eyes. She cried in incoherent sentences as she hugged onto him tightly. This comforted (Y/N) knowing someone cared, but also pained him, due to the fact he truly saw just how different he is. He is immortal, unable to die by any normal means, maybe not even aging. While he may be more fragile then others, since he lacks an aura, he can survive any lethal blow as if nothing more then a simple paper cut. He's died thousands of times over, yet this girl still cries over a "little" accident. He hugged her back, with his one remaining arm.
(Y/N): "Ruby I'm fine. There's nothing-"
Ruby: "Don't ever do that again!"
The male was stunned.
(Y/N): "But you would've-"
Ruby: "I would've gotten hurt! My aura would be depleted and I'd probably get a broken arm or leg, not die!"
(Y/N): "I can't die though. So it's alr-"
Ruby: "Promise me never to do that again!"
She sobbed and looked at him with tears still streaming down her face.
Ruby: "Promise you won't throw away your life anymore!"
The male hesitated.
(Y/N): "I... I promise Ruby."
Ruby: "Good... now let's... let's get..."
Ruby suddenly passed out on the male. Mainly due to the shock and trauma of the scene she endured.
(Y/N): "I said don't look."
The male looked over to the fallen limb he had lost. A black thread-like material came from his wound and snaked its way to the severed limb, then pulled it towards (Y/N). It reattached normally, then the male picked Ruby up bridal style and started walking towards Beacon as if nothing happened. He even went as far as ignoring the driver that stood outside his vehicle staring at (Y/N) in horror.
Meanwhile, a certain short mute girl held up her scroll, recording the event from a rooftop. She smirked and sent the recording to her boss, then spun her parasol around in her hand and walked off.
