Chapter Six - Burning the Candle
It is the day before the dance and right now, Yang, Weiss, and (YN) are busy getting the ballroom fixed up for the dance. Ruby is also with them, but is just sitting on a lone table, head resting in her left hand and wearing a sad look on her face.
(YN) telekinetically placed a set of curtains over one of the windows in the ballroom. When he was about to grab another set of curtains, he noticed Ruby sulking. He walked over to her and sat next to her.
(YN): "Hey, Ruby." He greeted.
Ruby: "Hey, (YN)." She greeted back, not looking at him.
(YN): "You're still worried about Blake?" He guessed. Ruby gave a sad sigh.
Ruby: "Yeah..." She replied, lamented. (YN) placed a hand on her shoulder.
(YN): "Ruby, she will come." He assured her. "Yang told me she has already got a plan to do so." Just as Ruby was about to speak, Weiss suddenly places two tablecloths in front of her, both with the same color of a shade of gray.
Weiss: "I need you to pick a tablecloth." She smiled, sliding the two cloths closer to them. Neither (YN) or Ruby couldn't tell the difference between the two cloths.
Ruby: "Aren't they both the same?" She asked in confusion, looking back up at Weiss.
Weiss: "I don't even know why I asked!" She sighed in frustration before turning to (YN). "(YN), help me out here."
(YN): "Uhhh." He thought for a moment. "I think the left one would look good." He pointed at the left cloth.
Weiss: "Thank you!" He thanked him, giving him a smile before walking away.
Just then, Yang walked over, carrying a large speaker amp on her shoulder like it was a pillow. She placed the speaker on the ground, causing the table and the seat Ruby and (YN) are on to bounce up for a moment. Yang wiped her hands as she walked up to them.
Yang: "So, have you picked out a dress yet?" She asked, hands on her hips.
Ruby: "What's the point?" She sighed solemnly. "Who cares about the dance if Blake isn't going?"
Yang: "Oh, don't worry; she's going." She assured Ruby, before turning to Weiss, who was putting some doilies on the table.. "Weiss! I thought we agreed: No doilies!" Weiss then gets to her face.
Weiss: "If I don't get doilies, you don't get fog machines!" She retorted, sticking a finger to Yang's face. The arguement is interrupted as the door opened and Neptune and Sun walked in.
Neptune: "Your dance is gonna have fog machines?" He asked as he approached.
Weiss: "We were thinking about it..." She replied sweetly, hands held in front of her.
Neptune: "That's pretty cool." He commented, pointing at her.
Sun: "You ladies all excited for dress up?" He asked playfully as he walked up, making Weiss slouch and frown at his presence.
Ruby: "Pfft... Yeah, right!" She scoffed.
Yang: "Laugh all you want. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night!" She smirked, confidence filled her voice as she crossed her arms.
Weiss: "What are you two wearing?" She asked, addressing to Sun and Neptune.
Sun: "Uuhhh... this?" He answered, gesturing to his shirtless outfit.
Neptune: "Ignore him," He stepped up and holds a hand in front of Sun's face. "for he knows not what he says." He preached.
Sun: "Hey," He knocked Neptune's hand away. "I may have moved to Mistral, but I grew up in Vacuo. It's not exactly a shirt and tie kind of place." He claimed.
Yang: "Yeah, we noticed." She deadpanned, mirroring Ruby's, (YN)'s, and Weiss' looks of being told something extremely obvious.
Sun: "Soooo... what does Blake think of all this?" He asked, rubbing the back of his head. "She still being all, you know... Blake-y?"
Weiss: "Obviously." She answered, turning and crossing her arms in disapproval.
Ruby: "I still can't think of a way to change her mind." She pouted.
Yang: "Guys." She spoke up, grabbing everyone's attention as she Trust me; Blake will be at the dance tomorrow." She proclaimed. And with that said, she walked out of the ballroom.
(YN): "Don't worry, she will get her to come." He assured her. Ruby looked to him, appreciative that he understood this.
Ruby: "I hope so." She hoped. The two stayed quiet for a moment before (YN) decided to break the silence.
(YN): "Can I talk to you in private?" He asked. Ruby seemed startled at his words.
Ruby: "Y-yeah, sure." She nodded.
Ruby followed (YN) as they walk out of the ballroom and into the courtyard. He led Ruby to a nearby tree as they went underneath it. Then he stopped and turned around to face her.
Ruby: "So, what is it you want to tell me?" She asked.
(YN): "Well, Ruby, I know you don't really care about the dance because of Blake right now but..." He started, pausing hesitantly for a brief moment. "I was wondering if maybe you would like to... go to the dance... with me... tomorrow... night." He offered. Ruby's eyes widened in shock, her mouth hung open and she couldn't utter a word, only a few short breaths were heard as she was trying to calm her mind. She shook her head side to side.
Ruby: "Y-Y-You want to go to the dance?" She asked. (YN) blushed lightly, but nodded affirmative. A blush surfaced on her face as well. "With me?"
(YN): "Yeah. What do you say?" He asked. Ruby didn't reply, all she did was stare at him with a slight blush until she looked away. He immediately noticed her turmoil, and turned to leave. "I'll give you some time to answer..." He was turning away, but was caught off guard when Ruby suddenly shot grabbed his right arm and squeaked out a "YES!" He turned back around to face her. "Huh?"
Ruby: "Yes." She repeated clearly, blushing heavily. "I would love to go to the dance with you, (YN)." She nodded, smiling shyly.
(YN) formed a grin on his face before he grabbed Ruby, pulling her into a hug, much to her surprise, but she just returned the hug. They stayed in the hug for a while before they let go.
(YN): "Well, should head back to the ballroom to finish up the preparations." He decided.
Ruby: "Okay." She nodded. "So I'll see you tonight at the courtyard statue?"
(YN): "You bet." He nodded. He turned to leave first, but stopped for a moment before he walked back to Ruby and gives her a kiss on the cheek, making them both blush. "I'll see you tomorrow night." He smiled before backing away and turning around to walked back to the ballroom, leaving Ruby awestruck as she slowly put a hand on her right cheek.
Ruby: "Yeah... See you tomorrow night." She muttered with a soft smile, still a little red at the gesture.

At the library, Blake is sitting at one of the tables working on a green holographic screen as she continued her search on what the White Fang and Torchwick are planning. She is obviously more sleep-deprived than ever, barely focusing on what she's seeing.
As she is working, Blake sees a small, bright red dot appear on her screen. The red dot moved up and down along the screen, her eyes following it, and eventually falls onto her right hand. She moves her hand, and it disappeared entirely, before she looked back to find the culprit, but sees no one who could have done it.
Feeling slightly irritated, Blake turned back to her screen and continued researching, only to see the red dot appear on her right hand again. Blake looked back again, but doesn't see who's doing it, and turned back around. A second later, the same red dot appeared on her screen again, and started moving around in circles across the screen. She watched it for a moment before she scowled and pounded her fists on the table. She stands up from the chair and turned around, angry, but then sees the red dot on the ground in front of her.
Blake began following the red dot blindly through the shelves of books, trying to step on it as well, and continued following it until it turns around a bookshelf in front of her. Blake followed it around the bookshelf until she looked up to see Yang holding a laser pointer in her right hand at her with a big smile on her face, spooking her.
Yang: "Hello~!" She greeted in a sing-song voice with a wave of her left hand.
Blake: "What are you-" She began, but Yang grabbed her left arm.
Yang: "We need to talk." She told her before she quickly whisked Blake away, who let out a single cry of surprise as she was dragged out of the library by her.

Meanwhile, Ren walked out of the steaming bathroom with nothing but a pink towel wrapped around his lower body and a bottle of shampoo in hand. Ren sighed contently as he started walking over to get some clothes to change into. But before he could, Jaune suddenly came up to him and grabbed his left wrist.
Jaune: "We need to talk." He told Ren before dragging him away, who let out a single cry of surprise as the bottle of shampoo falling from his hand and spinning in the air for a second in the process before dropping to the ground.
Jaune then sat down on his bed with Ren sitting next to him. He looked rather uncomfortable in just the towel, but listened to him.
Jaune: "Ren... I'm just gonna say it." He started off. "You are one of my best friends. These past few months, I feel like we've really bonded, even though you don't say much. I mean, you're really quiet. To be perfectly honest, I don't know that much about you, personally, but darnit, I consider you to be the brother I never had!" Though uncomfortable in just the towel, Ren still smiled and nodded at his words.
Ren: "And I you." He replied, trying to be attentive from then on, but keeps glancing at his usual outfit, which is hanging by the closet door just out of his reach.
Jaune: "Which is why I wanted to get your advice on... girls." He admitted.
Ren: "Girls?" He repeated, sounding surprised, but started reaching out for his clothes while Jaune looked away.
Jaune: "I just... don't know... how to... girls." He muttered, not really sure how to say what he was trying to find the right words at the moment. "Um, I-I guess what I'm asking is... Well, how did you and Nora... y'know..." Ren puts his hand down after almost touching the green robe, but looked even more awkward now.
Ren: "Uh... uh... uh..." He had no clue how to respond to that.
Nora cleared her throat to get the boys' attention on her, wearing nothing but her emblazoned headphones, a dark gray T-shirt with the word "Boop" written on it, which also includes her hammer emblem in place of the second letter "O". With this shirt, she wears pink shorts patterned with white thunderbolts as she reads a book resting on her knees, before she laughed nervously.
Nora: "We're actually not "together-together"..." She replied sheepishly.
Jaune: "NORA, I SAID HEADPHONES ON!" He snapped, pointing at Nora. Nora does so quickly under his command.
Ren: "Jaune, what is this all about?" He asked, focusing on Jaune fully. Jaune gave a deep sigh.
Jaune: "It's Weiss." He confessed, obviously depressed as he stared at the floor. "I'm completely head-over-heels for her, and she won't even give me a chance. She's cold, but she's also incredible. She's smart, and graceful, and talented. I mean, have you heard her sing? I-I just wish she's take me seriously, y'know? I wish I could tell her how I feel without messing it all up."
???: "Then do it." Spoke out a familiar voice.
Jaune, Ren, and Nora, who took off her headphones again, all looked up towards Pyrrha, who was currently standing in the doorway of their dorm room.
Jaune: "Uh, wha?" He asked, a little confused.
Pyrrha: "Tell her exactly what you said." She encouraged Jaune, walking into the room towards him. "No ridiculous schemes, no pick-up lines. Just... be honest."
Jaune: "But what if I-" He tried to speak.
Pyrrha: "Jaune." She interrupted him, smiling. "You can't get it wrong if it's the truth." Jaune looked up with a new confidence.
Jaune: "You're right." He stood up from his bed. "Thanks, Pyrrha!" He thanked her, before he looked back to his bed as he goes out. "Good talk, Ren!" Ren smiled and waved his thanks while he closed the door.
Upon doing so, Pyrrha becomes noticeably less cheerful as she walks over to her desk, with a concerned Nora watching her with sad eyes.
Nora: "Practice what you preach, Pyrrha." She sighed.

Yang and Blake are in one of the lecture rooms with orange light shining at the central desk. Yang was sitting cross-legged on the front desk while Blake remains standing.
Blake: "Yang, if you're going to tell me to stop, you may as well just save your breath." She sighed irritatedly, pacing back and forth next to the desk, arms crossed.
Yang: "I don't want you to stop. I want you to slow down." She corrected her calmly.
Blake: "We don't have the luxury to slow down." She countered, scowling and still irritated.
Yang: "It's not a luxury, it's a necessity." She corrected her again.
Blake: "The NECESSITY is stopping Torchwick." She retorted, dropping her arms and looking at Yang.
Yang: "And we're going to. But first you have to sit down and listen to what I have to say." She patting a spot on the front desk across from her. Blake thought for a moment before she relented.
Blake: "Fine." She sat on the desk, her legs draping over the edge.
Yang: "Ruby and I grew up in Patch, an island just off the coast of Vale, same as (YN)." She began. "Our parents were huntsmen. Our dad taught at Signal, and our mom would take on missions around the kingdom. Her name was Summer Rose. And she was like...super mom. Baker of cookies and slayer of giant monsters." She smiled, remembering that time of her life. But then her smile turned into a frown as she looked down. "And then...one day she left for a mission and never came back." Blake looked sorry for her. "It was tough. Ruby was really torn up but... I think she was still too young to really get what was going on, you know. And my dad just kind of... shut down. It wasn't long before I learned why... Summer wasn't the first love he'd lost... she was the second. The first... was my mom." She confessed solemnly, shocking Blake a little bit. She was amazed by this information. "He wouldn't tell me everything, but I learned that the two of them had been on a team together with Summer and Qrow, and that she left me with him just after I was born. No one had seen her since."
Blake: "Why did she leave you?" She asked, getting a little curious. Hearing that, Yang sighed, and turned to the chalkboard.
Yang: "That question... Why?" She got off the desk and walked up to the chalkboard, picking up a piece of chalk. "I didn't know the answer, but I was determined to find out." She continued. "It was all I thought about. I would ask anybody I could what they knew about her." She then started drawing something on the board while reminiscing about a certain event that happened during her childhood.
|—————————|—————————|
"Then one day, I found something. What I thought was a clue that could lead me to answers. Or maybe even my mother. I waited for dad to leave the house, put Ruby in a wagon and headed out."
"I must have walked for hours. I had cuts and bruises, was totally exhausted, but I wasn't gonna let anything stop me. When we finally got there, I could barely stand, but I didn't care. I had made it... And then I saw them, those burning red eyes."
"There we were, a toddler asleep in the back of a wagon, and a stupid girl too exhausted to even cry for help. We might as well have been served on a silver platter... But, as luck would have it, our uncle showed up just in time..."
|—————————|—————————|
Yang: "My stubbornness should have gotten us killed that night." She finished her story, looking down in shame as she put the chalk piece down. She then took a step back from the chalkboard, which revealed her drawing of a clockwork eye on a wing.
Blake: "Yang..." She stood up from the desk. "I'm sorry that happened to you, and I understand what you're trying to tell me, but this is different. I'm not a child, and this isn't just a search for answers! I can't just-"
Yang: "I told you, I'm not telling you to stop." She interrupted Blake, still facing the board, fists clenching. "I haven't. To this day, I still wanna know what happened to my mother and why she left me, but I will never let that search control me. We're going to find the answers we're looking for, Blake, but if we destroy ourselves in the process, then what good are we?"
Blake: "You don't UNDERSTAND!" She shouted in frustration, continuing to not listen to her. "I'm the only one that can do this!"
Yang: "No, YOU don't understand!" She snapped, turning around sharply to reveal red eyes and the sound of flames. "If Roman Torchwick walked through that door, what would you do?"
Blake: "I'd fight him!" She answered instantly.
Yang: "You'd LOSE!" She corrected, pushing Blake a bit to better emphasize her point.
Blake: "I can stop him!" She argued, tiredly tried to push Yang away. However, Yang didn't even budge.
Yang: "You can't even stop ME!" She countered, pushing Blake again, hard enough to knock her to land on the desk.
Despite her tired state, Blake still managed to get back up again. Yang, still angry-eyed, walked slowly towards Blake, but then does the unexpected and embraced her in a hug.
Yang: "I'm not asking you to stop. Just please, get some rest." She begged, repeating what she said when their conversation first began before opening her eyes, revealing that they had turned back to their normal lilac. Then she released Blake, taking a step back to look at her. "Not just for you, but for the people you care about." She stepped away and started walking past Blake and up the stairs to the exit. "And if you feel like coming out tomorrow," She looked back over her right shoulder. "I'll save you a dance." She promised, winking down at Blake before leaving.
Blake stared at Yang as she left the classroom. Once she was gone, Blake let out a heavy sigh, relenting that she could take a break for a day. And with that thought in her mind, Blake walked away, leaving the all-seeing eye on the board.

Later at night, Jaune was walking down outside one of the buildings of the school, with a white rose in his right hand as it bounced up and down and a big smile on his face, as he was looking for Weiss. However, as he is looking, he heard her voice.
Weiss: "Neptune!" Weiss called out, unnoticeably walking past Jaune and goes up to Neptune. Jaune peeked around the corner.
Neptune: "Oh, uh, hey, what's up?" He greeted. Jaune looked on from around the corner.
Weiss: "I know this is a little, unorthodox, but I wanted to ask you something." She began, and puts her hands behind her back and right foot behind her left foot, trying to look innocent. "Would you... like to accompany me to the dance tomorrow?" she asks, looking nervous while Neptune rubbed the back of his head and smiled with raised eyebrows.
Jaune just looked on, a defeated look on his face as he lost all of his confidence and dropped the rose he was holding on the ground before walking back from where he came from.

The following time had passed in a blur before everyone knew it, the night of the dance had arrived. Everyone prepared for the evening that was sure to be one they'd remember.
(YN) was now at the courtyard, sitting on the bench next to the statue as he waited for Ruby to arrive. He is wearing a white dress shirt with a red tie, along with a nice blue jacket with black pants. He was also wearing a nice pair of blue dress shoes as well.
He was gazing down at the ground. He was so caught up in his thoughts, he didn't notice Ruby was approaching him from behind.
Ruby: "Hey, (YN)!" She greeted from behind him.
(YN) jumped a little at the sound of her voice, and instantly stood up from the bench to see Ruby... only to gain a deep, red blush across his cheeks as he stared at her.
Ruby was wearing a short, red, sleeveless dress with a thick black sash around the waist and black trim along the bottom. The bodice of the dress is split vertically to the sash and laced with black lacing. The yoke of the dress is transparent mesh with an opaque collar and hem, as well as opaque lines connecting the collar to her shoulders. She also wears black stockings and pumps.
(YN) couldn't take his eyes off of her. She looked very beautiful. Ruby noticed him starting at her, she had a small blush on her face.
Ruby: "Stop staring." She blushed, looking away. "You making me nervous." (YN) got back to his senses and looked away from her.
(YN): "Sorry, Ruby, It's just... you look really beautiful." He complimented. Ruby looked at him and he looked back at her again.
Ruby: "Oh, t-thank you." She thanked him bashfully, tucking a few strands of her hair behind her left ear. "You look good in that suit." She then walked towards him while she was loosing her balance from wearing heels.
(YN): "You having trouble wearing those?" He asked, looking down at her heels.
Ruby: "Yeah, Weiss made me wear these things." She explained, still trying to balance. "I told her I would rather wear my boots, but she-" She got cut off by almost falling down, so (YN) got caught her to stop her from falling.
They then looked at each other's eyes for a good few minutes. Her sliver eyes were shining with the reflection of the moonlight, while she was starting at his blue eyes. Then they got back to their senses and they let go of each other.
(YN): "Well, that was something." He chuckled.
Ruby: "Yeah, sorry." She apologized.
(YN): "It's okay." She assured her. "So, shall we go?" He hold out his right hand for Ruby to take.
Ruby: "We shall." She nodded, gladly taking his hand, and then they started walking to the ballroom where the dance is taking place.
|—————————|—————————|
Inside the ballroom, dance was almost in full-swing at the moment. Most of the students were dancing with each other on the dance floor. Though, there were a few students who sat in the chairs along the walls of the ballroom.
Yang, however, was doing neither of those things. Instead, she stood behind a small podium set up in front of the ballroom's main entrance so she could greet all the newcomers to the dance. Currently, she wore a simple short, white, halter neck dress with a pale gray hem and white pumps.
Yang was fixing her hair slightly when she heard the door open. Looking up, she was greeted by the sight of (YN) and Ruby. And upon seeing this, Yang flipped out.
Yang: "Oooh, you two look adorable together!" She squealed, bouncing in joy with a big smile.
(YN): "Thanks, Yang." He thanked her. Ruby groaned, looking displeased as she rubbed her head.
Ruby: "Can we have a serious talk about how Weiss fights in these?" She asked, gesturing to the pumps as she started having trouble walking to the podium. She lost her balance and falls to her right. Thankfully, (YN) caught her.
(YN): "Hang on. I got you." He helped Ruby up as she clings onto his arm, much to Yang's laughter of amusement.
|—————————|—————————|
Meanwhile outside of the ballroom, Sun was walking to the entrance and wearing a new black jacket with a white tie hung around his neck, which he proceeds to fight with before going inside.
Sun: "Stupid... dumb... neck trap." He grumbled, trying to adjust his tie.
???: "I knew you'd look good in a tie." Commented a voice behind him.
Sun froze and turning around with a blush on his face as he sees Blake, now looking like she traded her dark bags for violet eyeshadow, and wearing a purple dress, black translucent mesh for the top, and black pumps. She completes her attire with a slightly shiny teal bow and purple eyeshadow.
She then stepped forward towards Sun and takes him by the arm as they walked together.
Sun: "Sooo, does this mean we're going... together?" He asked hopefully.
Blake: "Technically, though my first dance is spoken for." She answered, and they both head to the dance.

Team RWBY admired their handy work in decorating. There are tables with punch and some food, curtains hanging over the windows, and streamers were hung from the chandeliers. Pink, blue, and green balloons were pinned to the sides of the walls, music playing, students in dark suits and bright dresses were dancing together on the dance floor between tables decorated in white tablecloth, and seats arranged on the sides of the ballroom. All-in-all, the ballroom was splendidly prepared for the occasion.
On the dance floor, Blake was spun around by Yang before they curtseyed to each other. Then Sun came up and took his date's hand as Yang gestured for him to do so. Yang walked over to where Ruby, Weiss, and (YN) were standing at the back of the ballroom. They watched as Blake laughed, enjoying herself while dancing before she turned to her friends with a smile.
Yang: "I told you she would come." She reminded them with a smile and her hands on her hips.
(YN): "Good job, Yang." He praised Yang, giving her a arm hug, in which she smiled and hugged him back with her own arm.
Weiss: "Mission accomplished." She added, nodding her head.
Ruby: "So, what do we do now?" She asked, looking at them.
Yang: "Just have fun, you two!" She smiled before walking away, with Weiss going the opposite direction and leaving Ruby and (YN) to themselves as Ruby watched them go.
(YN): "We will!" He waved at Yang as she went back to the podium.
Ruby: "Does that mean I can change out of these stupid things and into my hood now?" She asked pleadingly, but received no answer. "Stupid lady stilts." She complained, waddled around in her painful footwear.
(YN): "Sorry, you'll just have to wait until this is over." He joked. Ruby playfully punched him in the shoulder gently as he chuckled. "But, you do look great in it." Ruby blushed at his comment.
Ruby: "I-I guess I can hold off for tonight." She smiled.
???: "Not enjoying yourself, Ms Rose?" Asked a voice.
Ruby and (YN) looked to their left, and Ruby was surprised to see Ozpin's sudden appearance as he walked up beside them.
Ruby: "Oh, no, everything's fine!" She assured Ozpin, shaking her head and laughed. "I'm just not much of a fancy pantsy... dancey girl."
(YN): "Well, you can't spend everyday fighting monsters and criminals." He reasoned. "There will come time in your life when you'll need to settle down."
Ozpin: "Mr. Braveheart is right." He agreed with him with a nod. "You can't spend your whole life on the battlefield, even if you may want to."
Ruby: "Yeah, that lesson's been floating around a lot lately." She remarked, crossing her arms, a little annoyed about that idea. Ozpin stared out at the dancing couples.
Ozpin: "If you think about it, fighting and dancing aren't so different." He pointed out. "Two partners interlocked, although one wrong move on the ballroom merely leads to a swollen foot."
Ruby: "Or a twisted ankle." She muttered, looking down at her own feet.
Ozpin: "It's not every day that friends are able to come together like this." He continued. "Time has a way of testing our bonds, but it's nights like these that can help keep them stronger than ever." He explained as they watch everyone else enjoying the night. "Nights like these are ones we'll never forget." (YN) and Ruby smile at his words.
(YN): "Thank you, Professor." He thanked him.
Ozpin: "Don't thank me, (YN)." He smiled. "Well, I'll leave you two to enjoy yourselves. Have a nice night." He then walked behind them to go somewhere else.
Just then, music began to play a slow tune for couples. A calm and slow tune. Ruby then looked at (YN) at the corner of her eye, hoping he doesn't notice. However, (YN) turned to her and extended his right hand to her.
(YN): "Would you like to dance, Ruby?" He requested.
Ruby: "I'm not sure." She responded sheepishly. "I'm not that much of a dancer."
(YN): "It's ok, I'll teach you." He smiled reassuringly. Ruby hesitated, but gently placed her hand on his. He carefully took Ruby to the dance floor, and get into position to dance. "Put one hand on my shoulder, and the other in my hand." He instructed. Ruby did exactly what he said to her. She put one hand on his left shoulder and her other on his right hand while he put his left hand around her waist. Ruby started blushing a bit when he did that. "Ready?" Ruby nodded a little, and they begin dancing to the music.
(YN) moved one step forward as Ruby moves back, before moving left with his feet while Ruby followed, and then stepped right with Ruby following along nervously. (YN) then twirled her under his arm before bringing her back into his arms and they continue to move to the beat of the slow music. Even as they move, (YN) kept his eyes locked on Ruby's, keeping her entranced as she followed his lead. She was slowly getting the hang of it.
Ruby: "Wow, I didn't know you were this good at dancing." She commented. "Where did you learn how to dance?" She asked curiously.
(YN): "Beside my training, my mom also taught me how to dance." He replied. "She said that one day I will meet a beautiful girl and I need to learn it. Guess she was right." He chuckled, making Ruby blushed.
They continued to dance in silence, swaying side to side. (YN) feels his heart started beating faster as his chest gets tighter. Ruby was feeling her heart beating faster too. The all too familiar warm feeling was flowing through their chests. At last, Ruby broke the silence.
Ruby: "Hey, um, (YN)?" She spoke up.
(YN): "Yes, Ruby?" He responded.
Ruby: "There's something I've been needing to tell you." She began, feeling her chest tighten.
(YN): "Really. Cause I've been wanting to tell you something, too." He told her. Ruby looked up at him. "Ruby... before I met you, the only things on my mind were to train and try to become a Huntsman like my father." He began. "But, on that day we met after I saved you and Yang, I had a crush on you. You have a great personality, and have a passionate for weapons. You're kind, selfess, and just fun to be around and very loving to others, and have a smile that I like whenever you get excited. But when I saw your silver eyes... they shine wherever you are happy. I later understood that I..." He paused, the warm feeling flowed throughout his chest and his heart was steadily beating. "I... feel in love with you because of those eyes." He confessed. Ruby's eyes widened as her face lit up. "That's what I wanted to tell you, Ruby. I love you. And I have for a while, but..." He slightly looked down to his right. "I just don't know how to say it."
Ruby: "I felt the same way." She began, causing (YN) to look at her. "When I met you, and after hearing why you want to become a Huntsman I understood you are just like me." She confessed. "I was amazed by how you weld your weapons and well..." She paused, her blush deepened. "I got a crush on you the very day we met at home. Every night I couldn't stop talking about how awesome you were. Yang started teasing me and only deepened my crush on you. Later, you saved me back at the initiation and our teams become friends. You taught me so much in how to be a leader, stood up for me against Weiss, and you always know how to brighten my day. I later understood that..." She paused hesitantly for a brief moment, her warm feeling flowing through her chest. "I fell in love with you too."
(YN): "When?" He asked.
Ruby: "After we nearly kissed on our first try on the night before the field trip..." She answered. (YN) blushed as he remembered that night when they almost kissed. "When that Ursa came at you, I thought you were a defenseless person, and about to get killed. But then, you were already combat ready and defeated it. And during the initiation when you gave up your relic so that I may pass, my worries got bigger when you were gonna leave, but you didn't." Her body started trembling as a few tears began to leak from her eyes. "And then that night at the docks when Torchwick shot you, my worries got even bigger when I thought you were badly hurt, but you got back up. You're brave, strong, not scared of anything. Every moment I've spent with you has been some of the best moments of my life." She wiped the tears away and gets her hand back on his shoulder. "My mom told me once when I was little. She said, 'Ruby, one day you will find someone special, someone who will give his life to save you. He will come out of nowhere, but when he does, you will know he is the one'." She looked up at him, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Never in my life I thought it will come true." She smiled at him. "(YN).... I love you too." She confessed her love to him.
(YN) smiled after he heard her confession. He then used his hands to cupped her cheeks, his thumbs wiping away the tears. And just like what happened so many times before, they stare into each other's eyes. They then started closing the distance between their faces. (YN) eyes gazing down at her lips. Ruby's eyes, glassy and sparkling, fluttered closed.
They edged closer and closer, until finally, their lips finally connect into a warm, tender, and loving kiss. Ruby trembled pleasantly when their lips touched, and she put her arms around his neck as (YN) wrapped his arms around her waist, allowing the kiss to deepened a bit. They stayed like this for a minute, and eventually, they separated, Ruby was blushing furiously. (YN) smiled when he saw how red her cheeks were, and lightly caressed them with his fingers.
Ruby: "Wow." She whispered, chuckling as they stayed in each other's arms.
(YN): "Yeah." He agreed, whispering as well. "Better than the first time at the park, right?"
Ruby: "Mhm, way better." She nodded shyly.
Then they kissed again, and they wrapped their arms around each other in a loving embrace. Like before at the park that night, they began their kissing session, but it was much slower and yet tender. (YN) run his hands up and down her back as Ruby gently gripped his jacket. It lasted for a whole minute, and eventually, they separated. They pressed their foreheads together as stared lovingly into their eyes.
Ruby: "I love you, (YN)." She smiled softly.
(YN): "I love you too, Ruby." He responded back.
Ruby leaned her head on his chest and closed her eyes, hugging him while (YN) hugged her back as they continued to dance. They slowly swayed side to side as they enjoyed each other's company. Then he looked over to his left and sees Yang at the podium, taking photos with her Scroll and giving him a proud smirk and a thumb up with her left arm. (YN) couldn't help but shake his head while smiling, chuckling quietly.
Yang: "Dad is gonna love this when he sees these pictures." She grinned to herself, looking at the pictures she took on her Scroll. Then the sound of the doors opening behind her, and spun around, putting her Scroll away and looked at the entrance and smiled at the new arrivals. "You guys are just in time." She greeted.
The two new guests that were stepping into the ballroom turn out to be Mercury and Emerald, with Mercury wearing a black tuxedo with gold lines on the edges of the jacket and shoulders, along with a gray vest, a white buttoned up dress shirt, a gold bowtie, and black dress shows. Meanwhile, Emerald is wearing a dark green sleeveless dress, but black under her chest, and going down to above her knees, and black pumps.
Mercury: "Wouldn't miss it for the world." He replied, the two of them smiling.
