The Basics
(A/N: The original creator of this concept in RWBY was Scottyamas and the person who official Adopted his story is ArenFera1870 and I feel if it is appropriate to say that if either of them tell me that they are not ok with me posting a fanfic that is basically the same thing, I will take it down without hesitation. So if you like this story, you should check out the original.)
Day was just like any other day. I went to school, went home, did my homework, and completely wasted the day with Video Games, Anime, and Comic Books.
It's just how life works for me. I've really got nothing to complain about. Day in, day out, I'm satisfied. What more could I ask for?
Go to a fancy world, and go to a school where I'm trained to fight Monsters and be hero for living.
???: Well that could always be arranged.
... What?
I was currently just talking to myself in the mirror... Like I... Always do... Don't judge me. When I suddenly wasn't in my room anymore... But it felt like a whole new reality.
... Like I'm standing in a white Void.
??? 2: That is what this place is. A void for you to use... And even if you decline this offer, please accept this pocket dimension for your trouble.
Darkness: If you ask me, I think giving him a whole realm to himself is a bit much. But if you insist brother, then I'll let it go.
... All words escape me in this situation. To divine being stood towering over me... I don't know what's going on.
Light: Allow me to explain. I am the God of Light. And this is my brother, the God of Darkness. We came across your planet looking for someone with your... Specific set of skill.
Darkness: Which being... You're a loser with no future, and you waste way to much time on these thing humans call "Entertainment".
Light: While I could have phrased that in a more polite way, that is what we were going for.
(Y/N): ... Ok.... If I'm such a loser, then why would you be looking for someone like me.
Darkness: Well, after a we had created a version of humanity that was a complete failure, we moved on a created a new version of earth... And you some how got worse.
Light: We thought that we could be proud of Humanity... But you have done nothing but disappoint us.
(Y/N): ... That ... didn't... Answer my questio-
Darkness: We have been made the laughing stoke of the multiverse. So... We intend to repurpose our first world. Remaint. And sell your Planet, Earth, to another God.
Light: And that "Repurpose" is to... "A Video Game".
(Y/N): ... And you want... Me to play it?
Darkness: Yes and no. You aren't just gonna play it... You're gonna experience it.
(Y/N): ... I still don't follow.
Light: You are going to transport into the game, like hyper realistic virtual reality, and life out the game to see if everything works out fine.
(Y/N): ... Alright.
Darkness: Now I know it sound ludicrous but- What?
(Y/N): Well... Gods are giving me an opportunity of a life... So I see no reason not to take! ... Plus you're selling my world and I don't wanna be there when that happens.
Light: ... *Grins* I like this one.
Darkness: He's not the worst example of his species.
(Y/N): When do we start?
Light/Dark: Now.
The held out their hands and sent of wave of energy at me. It completely engulfed me, covering ever inch of my body. However this wasn't an attack... It was a power up.
A felt a surge of power come through my body. I feel stronger, faster, tougher... Powerful.
Light: Now before we send you into the Remnant, would you like a quick tutorial on your new abilities.
Quest: The basics
Win Conditions: Beat the God's trial.
Lose Conditions: Your HP goes to 0 before getting to the final enemy.
Bonus Conditions: Get 3 critical kills. Beat the final enemy.
Reward: Lien and EXP will be based on how well you do.
(Y/N): Wow, that looks really weird when it's in real life.... Alright. I should get use to my new power before jumping into anything.
Light: Alright... Let the tutorial begin!
The faded in around me, as the white void became...
A beautiful green field...
Darkness: Let's get started. Do to your new power, your basic abilities have been multiplied exponentially. So just try and run around to get a grasp on your new speed and agility.
Alright then. I start spiriting down the path that the Gods set for me to test out my new speed.
The speed at which I reach is unbelievable for a normal person. I feel so fast, and so strong!
Darkness: You "have" to run like that?
Light: To be fair, it does actually help him go faster when running at super human speeds.
Darkness: Well regardless, you can't run forever.
(Y/N): What do you-
I stopped talking when I noticed my... States? It was like SAO as in it was at the corner of my vision...
LV 1
HP: 100/100
Aura: 0/100
Stamina: 85/100
Darkness: Ah, you've noticed. You get tired like every one else, you if your sprint for too long, or dodge/block too many attacks, you'll tire yourself out and be stuck in place for a while. So keep an eye on your meter.
(Y/N): Yes sir!
I keep running and at the end of the path, my Stamina has 85/100 left. At the end of the path. There was one big clearing, perfect for a group of enemies to come and fight. And right on cue...
(Y/N): Woah! What is that thing!?
Light: A creator of Grimm. They live only to kill, and destroy.
Darkness: Some of my finest work I may add.
(Y/N): What about humanity?
Darkness: What about it?
(Y/N): ... Fair enough ... So I just kill it?
Light: That is correct. With the power up we gave you, we already gave you basic fighting knowledge. Time to use it.
(Y/N): Alright... Let's try it out!
I charge at the Beowolf at quicky attack it. The fighting skills that they inpatient into me came in handy. I quickly attack the Beowolf and when tries to strike back, I dodge roll out of the way. I noticed when I attacked, a little heath bar appeared above it's head. It was really surreal to see it in real life. But regardless, the wolf when down without much of a fight. I noticed that one I kill it starts to turn to dust. I little weird, but I take no mind to it.
(Y/N): Easy peasy.
Darkness: One Beowolf is nothing to be proud of. Try a whole pack.
Out from the thick for the forest, rest of the pack of the Beowolves came in, about 7... And they are not happy about me killing their friend.
(Y/N): Oh... Well that's more then o thought. Should be able to handle it.
Light: There might be a bit to many to keep track of. You can lock onto one at a time to keep your attention on that one enemy till they have been defeated.
I keep my focus on one of the Beowolves that were staring at me. When I do, a red beam of light appears above his head. The light goes far into the sky, so if I lose my focus, I can locate his by following that light. As the Beowolf darts around, I keep my eyes focused on unconsciously. As if it is as natural as breathing.
Also when I'm locked onto something, or someone, I can see some of their stats.
Beowolf
LV 1
HP: 50/50
As I kick, and kill it, my vision immediately locks on the next Beowolf. I'm glad I don't have to continuously switch every time I kill one of them.
My punches and kicks are more enough to kill these things.
I punch straight through its skull.
Critical Kill
2 Down.
I kick the next one in the face. Knocking off it's jaw and kill it.
Critical Kill
3 Down.
I rase my leg, and when the next one I was locked onto runs at me, I slam my leg down. Axe kicking it, splitting it's spine in half.
Critical Kill
4 down.
(Y/N): This! Is! Awesome! 3 Critical kills IN A ROW!!!
I am on the biggest hype train ever!!! Unfortunately, I got distracted and didn't see that one of the Beowolves that I wasn't locked onto came up behind me and scratched my back. My shirt stayed intact and the claws didn't tear through my skin, but I felt the pain.
LV1
HP 87/100
Aura 42/100
Stamina: 73/100
Darkness: And that's what you get for letting your guard down.
Light: You would have taken serious damage if it wasn't for your Aura.
(Y/N): My what?
Darkness: Aura is the manifestation of your soul. It's what's giving you your incredible speed and power. You've been building it up through out your fight with these Grimm.
Light: The more Aura you have, the more damage you'll do, and the less damage you'll take. You'll build Aura up naturally by taking in, or putting out damage. You can use that aura to heal yourself if you need to do so. It won't take much so try it right now.
I focus...
Heal... With my Aura...
HP 100/100
Aura 29/100
Stamina: 78/100
Darkness: Back to full health. Now stop fooling around and finish the rest of them.
(Y/N): Say no more.
With that, I lock onto the one closest one too me. Dashing at it with all my might, I gut punch it so hard my fist shoot straight through it's torso. It turns to dust and then I lock onto the next one, not stopping my sprint, and I grab it's skull and drag it through the ground. To the point where his head buckles underneath his own throat.
Critical Kill
The final one tried to jump me from behind right after I kicked the second one, but I ended up Doneky kicking him so hard that went flying through a tree.
Done and Done...
That was my first thought...
My second thought was "Oh S%%t 3 Giant Bears."
Ursa Major
LV 2
HP: 90/90
Light: Ursa Majors. You might have been able to beat them if they weren't strongest form of Ursa.
(Y/N): Then what do I do?!
Darkness: I'll keep the Ursa from moving. If you focus on filling that meter, you can charge your Aura. However if someone attacks you while charging, you'll stop being able to charge.
Easy enough... Charge... The Ursa continue to stay still, as Darkness said. And lone behold, I'm at maximum power.
HP: 100/100
Aura: 100/100
Stamina: 75/100
Light: Good. Now use that full Aura bar for "Application."
(Y/N): "Application?"
Light: It you have a full Aura bar, you can amplify your psychical abilities to their maximum. Activate it and take out these vile creatures.
Ok... I focus on the aura in my body, and it takes a minute... But I feel a sudden spike in energy in me! Like I bursting into a new level! The power coursing through my vains is unimaginable! I look to see my Aura bar is draining very quickly.
I have no time to waste, so I dash at the Ursa. I end up missing my swing cause of my new speed, and just end up crashing into the Ursa, knocking it back.
It's not out though, so I punch it in the face, time seems to slow time slightly because of the force and speed of my attack. I keep attacking crushing the Monster with my bare hands.
As I do so, my Aura is fill up to keep my Application going, but it'll only get me a few moments. So once I kill the first, I go for the kill as fast as possible with the other 2.
As I kick the second one's head off, I punch it's body away and it hits a tree. The ground shakes do to the intensity of that attack, and bird fly away cause they got scared from that noise.
And the last one was no problem. A few swift attacks and a kick straight through the stomach, and I win... Just in time for my Aura to run out.
Critical Kill
HP: 100/100
Aura: 0/100
Stamina: 71/100
Light: ... That's not the end...
(Y/N): What do-
Darkness: Don't speak put load. The people about to attack will hear you.
... What?
Light: With Aura, you are able to sense your surroundings, and separate friend from foe. Use it to sense the foes that are coming your way.
Ok... I feel... Like a wave of water breezes over me and I feel several people's presents... Surrounding me...
(Y/N): Come on out... I know your there.
All about 10 no named looking thugs surround me. They seem to be lead by that woman coming front and center.
Woman: Well, well, well... Aren't you a tough one.
(Y/N): ... Who are you guys?
Vernal: My name is Vernal... And I don't have time to deal with you. Just hand over everything you have on you.
(Y/N): I don't have anything.
Vernal: Yeah, sure you don't. Look kid, we are WAY too for from town for you to just "Wonder" your way here. So you must have something with you.
(Y/N): Even if I did have something, I would love to see you take it from me.
Vernal: ... *Sigh* They're always the ones that fight back.
She snaps her fingers, and her gang of bandits new it was time to attack.
Darkness: This wasn't part of the plan, but I suppose he will gain some experience on fighting other humans.
Light: I suppose so. Now, these may see like the average ruffians, and they are. But everything you just did, was nothing special. They also have the ability to heal, sense, lock on, and amplify themselves.
Darkness: Don't get cocky. If your quick, you'll be able to take them out before they even think of using those abilities.
Understood.
Time to party!
Bandits (Spear)
LV 1
HP: 30/30
Aura: 0/20
Stamina 10/10
Ok, these guys have melee Weapons. Since I don't have any way to attack from a distance, I have to get in close. Once I do, I dodge his first strike and swiftly get his HP down to Zero with light attacks.
The next guy I lock onto is a bit more tricky.
Bandit (Gun)
LV 1
HP: 20/20
Aura: 0/10
Stamina: 30/30
These guys have ranged weapons. Now it's a bit more tricky. I dodge his initial shot and take him down in less then 3 attack do too his low heath, but when I do, one of his buddies shoots me in the back before I could switch my lock.
HP 91/100
Aura: 10/100
Stamina: 95/100
(Y/N): Cheep shotting son of a-!
I cut myself off as I charged at him and my fist connected with his face and he went flying. It was enough to knock him and one of the guys he crashed into out cold. The guy other guy he crashed into held on, and still had most of his HP left. However he was the next person I locked onto, so he went do like a...
(Y/N): ... Bitch.
That 5 down, 5 to go.
Light: You know, I feel as if it is appropriate I tell you about "Super attacks and Ultimate Attacks "
Now? Kinda in the middle of something.
Darkness: Time stops when we do this. You just don't realize. But back at the matter at hand. Super and Ultimate Attacks are just like what they.
Light: You only have 2 Super Attack and 1 Ultimate Attack. By progressing through, you have the ability to get better and stronger attacks. You can only have 4 of them at a time and 2 Ultimates. So choose wisely when you come across that bridge.
I feel the instinctual words flash in my head for only peco second, but I could read and understand them perfectly.
Super Attacks
Meteor Crush
User jumps into the air then drives their fist into the ground with a large crash. Sending a small shockwave that does damage. If user lands onto an enemy and that enemy is K.O'd, then it is an Automatic Critical Kill.
Aura Cost: 15
Impact Launch
Use a large long jump to your foe and kick them in the face. Depending on which direction you aim your kick is which direction you'll launch them.
Aura Cost: 10
Stamina Cost: 10
Ultimate Attacks
Spike
When the user uses this move, they upcut the enemy with all of their strength. As the foe is sent flying up in the air, the user jumps up following after them. Once they reach them in mid air, they give a power axe kick to the back to their head. Sending back to the ground crashing.
Aura Cost: 40
So they cost Aura to use. Ok, let's try Meteor Crush!
I jump in the air and on my way down, I drive my fist into the ground. Landing one of the enemies and O.K ing him.
Critical Kill
The shockwave does damage to the others, making them about have 2/3 or a half of their health. As such, taking them out with basic attacks it easy enough.
(Y/N): Alright! Your goons are finished, you wanna buzz off now.
Vernal: *Chuckles* Congratulations, you took out a bunch a weaklings. Hope you're not too proud of yourself.
Vernal: But your still nothing special.
(Y/N): Look, I've got nothing. This battle is pointless, there is literally nothing on on the line. So do use all a favor, and just leave.
Vernal: Sorry, but I can't just let you with taking down my own.
(Y/N): Your own?
Vernal: We're all part of the same tribe. We all hunt and travel together. And those who hurt my family need to be punished.
(Y/N): You guys attacked me!-
I was cut off from the laser that fired out of her weapon, almost grazing my cheek. Luck for me I was able to move my head slightly, enough to avoid taking any damage.
Vernal: Doesn't matter. What matters that in 5 minutes, you're gonna be dead.
Darkness: Now it's time you fight a REAL opponent.
Light: The others you fought were nothing but grunts. But she has been trained and is very strong opponent for anyone around her to face.
Darkness: As of now, I believe this would be considered "A boss fight."
In the tutorial?!
Light: We don't make the rules.
YES YOU DO!
Darkness: Either way, give it all you got. This is the final enemy, and if you you lose we won't let you die.
Light: And just as a reminder, she can use super and ultimate attack. But they are far different from yours, so be careful.
Alright then...
Vernal
LV 3
HP: 100
Aura: 0/75
Stamina: 120/120
So she has the same health as me, but high stamina. I have more aura, so I've got that going for me. I guess I just have to go it and-
Faster then I could react, she launched herself at me. I could move my legs when she was traveling that speed, but I could raise my arms to block. But when she does attack, I get launched away.
HP: 87/100
Aura: 18/100
Stamina: 91/100
Crap. I didn't heal from that last guy attack me. I think I'll be alright. Keeping my distance is out of the question, so I have to fight her head on!
I regain my footing and launch myself at her. She dodged rolls at of the way and stands her ground. I continue my attack as she puts her arms up to block. I'm doing very little damage to her because of that. However my Aura can build up because of my attacks, so use Impact Launch to kick her away, and break her guard.
Vernal
HP: 82/100
Aura: 7/75
Stamina: 100/120
When she gains her footing back, she dash towards me and I side strafe out of the way. She keeps but her assault, and I keep dodging her attacks. Her attacks finally do land and she gets a good slashing combo off on me. Slashing me in the face and making me hit the floor.
HP: 69/100
Aura: 11/100
Stamina: 74/100
Once I land on the floor, she tries to follow up with... Meteor Crush?! They said he had different moves! I do a back flip to launch myself off the ground, avoiding her punch. While I'm in mid air, she starts to... Shoot me!? That thing is also a gun?! I get hit, but the bullets bounced off thanks to Aura, and it didn't hurt all that much.
When I land, try to think of a plan. But the only thing I can think of is to build up aura and try and go for a super or ultimate attack. Maybe Application if I'm lucky. So I go in for basic attack. Punch her in the face, but when I do she turns to me a smirks. My punch didn't do much damage to her. If any damage at all. She countered but I ended up blocking her attack and black flipping again to gain distance.
She runs at me, and I run in retaliation. We end up clashing with my fist and her weapon going head to head.
Clashes.
If both of you end up doing the same type of attack (Baisc, Super, and Ultimate and the types) then you'll be able to clash to see who will come out on to. Since you can't button mash here, we found a new way for you do it. It wall depends on your Aura, Stamina, and Health.
If you use your Aura to output more power. It'll drain through out the clash, and if you run out of Aura, then you'll use up your Stamina. If you run out of Stamina. You can choose to bow out of a clash you feel like you don't want to drain too much energy, if you lose the clash you'll lose a lot of health. The longer the clash goes on the more health some will lose so be careful when clashing
With that crash course, I take a look to see if I could win.
(Y/N)
HP: 62/100
Aura: 16/100
Stamina: 69/100
Vernal
HP: 75/100
Aura: 8/75
Stamina: 95/120
I am 98% sure she could out last me in this clash. However, either raw stubbornness or stupidity, I continue on anyway. I push on in the clash, my fist aching in pain, but I press on.
However... I lucked out. Cause either she didn't want to waste energy in this clash, or the AI is kinda crappy, she stops the clash once her Aura runs out. Which was the only stat I had more than her. So I won the clash.
I push my hand to the side, having her hand follow mine. Leaving her wife open for my other hand to hit her right in the stomach. Launching her away.
Vernal
HP: 50/100
Aura: 0/75
Stamina: 95/100
Ok... Not a whole lot of damage, but if I'm careful I could turn this around. I only have 8 aura left form the clash, but that's ok. I take this moment to make my way over to where she was knocked down, making sure no to go too fast as to recover my Stamina. When she gets back up, I kick her in the face sending her back. She's enraged now and she rushes. I swiftly dodge her attacks and deck her in the schnoz, making her stumble back.
I'm not gonna lose this. The mission said that the final enemy would be tough, and I might not have been able to beat them. And they were right, she is crazy strong, however I will not give up.
I rush at her and now she's on the defensive. My attacks are so fast that she doesn't have time to dodge. Only block. However, one thing the Gods didn't tell me is that if you charge an attack for a bit, you can break through blocks. I just found that out while I was just relentlessly attacking her. So I break through her guard and kick her across the face.
HP: 62/100
Aura: 28/100
Stamina: 73/100
Now I'm starting to gain so momentum. If I'm gonna win I need to be more ruthless in my attacks. Use another charged punch when she wasn't even guarding and win I connect with her gut, she coughs up spit and get sent stumbling again. She quickly tries to counter attack, I end up grabbing her my by the throat and choke slamming her onto the ground.
Vernal
HP: 20/100
Aura: 30/75
Stamina: 82/120
Almost done. Just a couple more attacks and we'll be good to go.
Vernal looks extremely mad. She's become desperate. I'm not gonna give her any time to think. I charge in for the final assault that will end her... But I forgot...
She has an ultimate move.
I see her Aura flash Drain to zero and before I could move, or block, or think it was already too late.
Concentrated laser
Were the words that appeared next to her stats. All I could do was look on as her weapon admitted a powerful light, and soon a power beam. Point blank at my chest.
The beam was the size of my whole torso, and it was bright yellow. It came into contact with me as I fly backwards to the other side of the whole map we were fighting on. It didn't last long, however it drained through my health like a knife through butter.
HP: 36/100
Aura: 75/100
Stamina: 82/100
... That... Was painfully... However... I am able to stand... My chest feels like it can burn off. The skin feels like it'll peal off like an orange... But now I have enough... So it's my turn!
Coming out from the smoke of her attack, I charge right but to her. Being caught off guard, thinking I was died, her flusteredness got the better of her. So I didn't block my Ultimate Move.
Spike
I upper cut her into the air, sending her sky high. Putting all of my aura into my legs, I give a powerful leap into the air. Catching up to her mid flight. And spinning upside down in mid air, I kick her in back of the head with all my might.
She gets sent crashing to the ground, and her HP goes to 0.

Light: Impressive. I had my doubts about this idea at first, but I think we found the right human for this.
Darkness: I'm still not sure. I'll just wait until we get further into this game of ours to see what he is REALLY capable of.
After I knocked out Vernal I feel to the floor. Heavily panting, catching my breath after the fight I just had...
*CAKW* *CAKW*
Is that a Crow?... No, it's a Raven?
On the edge of the map where I left Vernal unconscious... Another woman came from the thick of the forest to stand beside her.
She knees down and checks her pluse. I can hear a sigh come through her mask as she get back up and stares me down...
I feel a threatening pressure coming from her stare. I put my fists up get ready just incase she does try and fight me.
But... She doesn't. She does take out her giant sword... But she swings it in the opposite direction of me. In turn, it creates a dark crimson... Portal? She picks up Vernal, puts her over her own shoulder... And just walks through... Paying me no mind.
(Y/N): ... Who was that?
Light: ...
Darkness: ...
(Y/N): ... Guys? I mean- Gods?
Light: Oh, you expected us to answer that?
Darkness: Who she is, is irrelevant to you. What matters is that it's starting to get dark. The Grimm are most prevalent then. You to get to Vale. That's the closest city too you.
Alright... This is my life now.
Next time: Vale Adventures.
(A/N): What should we spend our bonus points on?
