Chapter 2

City of Vale~

Kam stared at his Lightsaber as he and his sister, Aria, were walking along the sidewalk. Their training for today had concluded an hour ago and they were now going shopping. "...You okay little brother?" Aria asks as she notices his eyes glued to his lightsaber.

"Yeah." He answers, Kam says, tearing his gaze away from his lightsaber and giving his sister a small smile. "Just thinking about the crystal and how I got yellow out of all the colours."

Aria giggles and starts walking backwards while looking at him with her hands behind her back "Y'know, having a Yellow lightsaber usually leads to the user becoming a Jedi Sentinel, a Jedi who hones their skills in a balance of combat and scholarly pursuits." She explains as Kam looks at her as her smile grows wide and he gives her a 'don't say it look'. "🎶You're gonna be a nerdddd🎶, 🎶You're gonna be a nerdddd🎶." She sings in a teasing way.

Kam rolls his eyes and can't help but chuckle at his sister's antics. "Okay, okay, I get it. But hey, being a Sentinel doesn't sound so bad. It's a good balance between combat and the Force. Dad's always saying a healthy mind is the key to keeping the force in balance." He says trying to stay cool. Aria simply nods in agreement."What about magenta? I think I've heard about that one being a rare colour." Kam enquires.

Aria moves hair out of her face diligently "Magenta leads the user down a path that is compassionate and harmonic. And, although rare, it is a colour that represents the user's femininity as well." She gives off a coy smile as a shining aura radiates off her.

Kam raises a brow at this "Femininity, huh?" Kam says, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "I guess that makes sense, considering that in one of the lost archives father showed us, told of a woman who wielded a magenta lightsaber." He pauses for a moment, considering. "Father never really liked that story for some reason.

Aria turns to her brother again and crossed her arms "Yeah, well....he hasn't read all of it to us so how can he say he doesn't like it if he hasn't finished it?"Aria's words hang in the air for a moment as Kam considers her perspective. Then again, maybe the archive is incomplete. After all, he and master Kota only managed to get their hands on what the empire didn't destroy.

"You're right, Aria. Maybe there's more to that story than he let on."

As they continue walking, they come across people gathering around at the entrance of the docks. They see one of the warehouses burned down and are taken aback. "Whoa." The siblings say in unison.

Someone in the crowd gets pushed back towards the two. Kam approaches him and taps his shoulder "Excuse me sir...what happened?" He asks.

The man turns to look at the boy and begins to explain "An accident happened last night...claimed the life of our dear council member, Finley Grey." The man explains.

Kam raises a brow at this. He looks at the wreckage as well as he can then back at the man "Why was he here?" He asks.

The man shrugs "They reckon they've found remains of the white fang. Dirty animals probably kidnapped him and something went wrong. They're all idiots, every last one of them." The man says, his words hanging heavy in the air as you both stand there, taking in the devastating news.

A council member, gone. The man's anger towards the "white fang" is palpable, but Kam can't help but wonder if there's more to the story. Aria takes her brother's arm and starts to lead him away "Let's go grab the bread." Aria states as she somewhat, angrily drags her brother away causing him to wince and look at Aria.

"Sis?" He calls out to her but gets no response "Aria. What's wrong? You're really pulling my arm off here." Kam says which eventually snaps Aria out of her mood.

"Sorry. Just, didn't like what that guy said.." Aria admits as she releases his arm.

Kam gives her a confused look "What? About the white fang?" He questions.

Aria nods, her expression serious. "Yes. It's just... so much hate. And they're always blaming the White Fang for everything. It's like they're an easy scapegoat."

Kam considers her words as they continue to walk. "I know what you mean...but haven't they recently been doing things that would be considered...extreme?" Kam questions again.

Aria ponders for a moment, then responds, "Yes, but that doesn't mean they're responsible for everything bad that's happened. Their cause is good as all they want is equality." She says and continues on. As Kam tilts his head at her, he puts his hand over his mouth and taps the side of his cheek with his index finger. He looks back at where they came from before deciding to catch up with Aria. As they walk together, the hustle and bustle of the docks begins to fade into the background, replaced by the sounds of their own footsteps and the distant calls of seagulls. The salty sea air fills Kam's nostrils, and can't help but feel a sense of calm wash over him.

Up ahead, the two see a small bakery nestled between two larger buildings. The smell of freshly baked bread wafts through the air, enticing the two Jedi even more. As they approach the bakery, Kam notices a small group of people huddled together near the alleyway of a cafe next door.

One of them was a little girl with a wolf ears, holding the hand of a boy with a wolf emblem on his white jacket. Which Kam found funny seeing as how the boy had a wolf tail.

'Being the older sibling must definitely be a lot of work.' Kam thinks as he watches his sister enter first. He knows that through her life so far, along with Mum and Dad, they've been leading him down a righteous path and trying to teach the rights and wrongs.

As Kam and Aria enter the bakery, they take a deep breath, savoring the aroma of fresh bread and pastries. Aria approaches the counter and begins to peruse the selection, her eyes scanning the various loaves and pastries on display. Kam follows suit, his gaze settling on a particularly delicious-looking loaf of sourdough.

The lady at the counter greets them warmly. "Welcome! What can I get for you two today?" She asks.

Aria looks up from the display case and considers the options for a moment before pointing to a loaf of whole grain bread. "We'll have that one, please," she says. The baker nods and begins to slice the loaf, her hands quick and precise as she wraps it up in paper.

Kam, meanwhile, decides to order a pastry to go with their bread. "I'll have one of those apple turnovers, too, please," he says, nodding towards the display case. The baker smiles and adds the pastry to your order. As she finishes wrapping everything up, Kam takes notice of a small sign on the wall near the register. "Support our local farmers!" it reads, accompanied by a colorful illustration of a farm.

The baker catches him looking at the sign and noticing straight away his piqued interest. "We source all of our ingredients locally...at least, we used to." she says as her tone goes from proud to sad.

"Used to?" Kam asks, furrowing his brow.

The baker nods, her expression becoming more serious. "Yes, unfortunately, it's become more difficult to do so lately. With the recent attacks from the White Fang, some of our local farmers have been unable to make the trip to the city to sell their goods."

Kam looks at Aria who holds the bag tightly. She really didn't like accusations being thrown around about the white fang like that. "How can we be sure it was them?" Kam asks hoping to clear the air.

The baker hesitates for a moment, as if considering how much to say. "Well, there have been reports of White Fang members attacking supply convoys and threatening human farmers. We can only get faunas farmer product."

Kam raised a brow at this and crossed his arms "Is that a problem?" He asks.

The lady waves it off as she sweats "N-No! I didn't mean it like that! What I meant was that it's just that there are barely any faunas farmers around." The baker look at her boss who has the door slightly open just enough for her to see him shuffle through papers with a hand on his head. "We've had a lot of good people lose their jobs here because of product value....it's only a matter of time before I join them..." she admits sadly and hands the order to him. Kam reluctantly takes it as a tinge strikes his heart as a saddened look plasters itself onto his face. They pay for their order and Kam slips in a tip of fifteen lien As the two siblings leave after acquiring what they came for and then some, they leave. However, Kam can't help but feel a pang of concern. The situation with the White Fang seems worse than he thought, way worse than the news was letting on.

Threatening farmers, kidnapping government officials and even to go as far as to kill them?

Kam can't help but feel a sense of unease as he imagines the White Fang causing harm to innocent people. Aria notices her brother's deep in thought, so she asks, "What's wrong, Kam?"

Kam shakes his head, snapping out of his thoughts. "Nothing," he replies, trying to brush off his concerns. "Let's head home.." he says as they head home for the day. 'Perhaps I should meditate on this.' Kam thinks to himself as he heads home with Aria.
