Last time we got to see Zane's battle during the Siege on Beacon Academy. Unfortunately he was blindsided by Young Xehanort and Xigbar. Although Ruby and Yang chased after something that went into the forest.

Mother Reaper chuckled to herself as she watched Ruby and Yang look around the forest for her. If all went well, her little gambit would work like a charm. She was well aware of the risk she was taking with this little plan of hers, but Summer Rose was starting to resist her more and more. "I thought the guilt from the Darkness from all those years ago would be enough. Looks like she still has some fight left in her, time for a more drastic approach." Mother Reaper thought you herself as she started to make her move. Mother Reaper started to hum a lullaby to herself as she kept an eye on Ruby and Yang.
                Ruby knew when had seen a white robed figure watching her from the tree line when they were fighting the Heartless and Nobodies. "Ruby are you sure you saw Mother Reaper in the forest?" Yang asked her sister as she was starting to think her sister was imagining things. "Yang I know I saw that monster! I'm not letting her keep mom prisoner in her body!" Ruby growled in anger as she looked around for the Nobody in question. "Ruby, we're all stressed about Aunt Summer, but you could have been imagining things!" Yang said as they heard what sounded like a lullaby.
                "Beware, beware little children. For the world is a dark and scary place! Beware, beware little children. For dangers lurk down every path!" A voice sang as Ruby and Yang looked around for the source of the singing. "If you wander far from home, you may suffer a gruesome fate! For the children of the night do not play fair and shall take you prisoner, for their mother!" Ruby and Yang turned to see Mother Reaper standing a few feet away from them with her Scythe rested on her shoulder. "Then you shall call me Mother to!" Mother Reaper finishes as she smiled.
              "So your the one who took over my mom's body! I won't let you control her anymore!" Ruby said as she readied Crescent Rose as she glared at Mother Reaper. "How adorable! Such a cute little girl trying to play hero! Why don't you run home to daddy before you get hurt?" Mother Reaper taunted as she knew that Ruby and Yang would not be running away anytime soon. "Like hell you cackling freak! We're not leaving here without Aunt Summer!" Yang roared as her eyes turned red as her Semblance activated and she readies Ember Celica for battle.
                Mother Reaper could feel a familiar pressure in her chest as Summer was once again starting to resist. She would have to make this quick. "Is that so? By all means come and take her from me!" Mother Reaper said with a cackle as Yang lunged towards her and punched her in the face. Yang unloaded multiple shots from Ember Celica as her fist connected with Mother Reaper's face. "Eat that you body stealing bitch!" Yang growled as the smoke cleared to show that Mother Reaper was completely unharmed. "Adorable, my turn!" Mother Reaper said as she grabbed Yang's arm before lifting her off the ground.
              Mother Reaper threw Yang into a tree as the tree broke in two the moment Yang's body hit it. "Yang!" Ruby shouted as she quickly ran towards Mother Reaper and attempted to slash Mother Reaper with Crescent Rose. Mother Reaper blocked the attack with her Scythe before hit Ruby in the gut with the butt of her Scythe. Ruby stumbled back as she tried to catch her breath. Yang snuck up behind Mother Reaper as she unleashed punch after punch with Ember Celica into Mother Reaper's back as she kept firing off shots with each punch.
                "You adorable little child, never change!" Mother Reaper said with a cackle before backhanding Yang as the girl was sent flying backwards. Ruby attempted to slash Mother Reaper with Scythe. Mother Reaper caught the blade with her hand before tightening her grip on the blade. Crescent Rose's blade shattered before the handle was cut in half by Mother Reaper's Scythe. "Oh it appears I broke your little toy! Now then children playtime is over!" Mother Reaper said as she punched Ruby in the gut, who collapsed to her knees from the pain.
                 Mother Reaper was ready to do what she came here to do when she clutched her chest in pain. "You..will...not hurt my daughters!" The voice of Summer Rose roared in Mother Reaper's head as she stumbled backwards. "Your becoming tiresome Summer Rose! Now be quiet while I finish my work!" Mother Reaper growled as she tried to force Summer Rose back down. "I won't let you hurt them! This ends now!" Summer Rose shouted as Mother Reaper was suddenly slashed across the chest by Raven. "Looks like Summer is fighting for control." Raven said as she looked at the struggling Nobody.
             Raven began unleashing attack after attack, which only helped Summer resist Mother Reaper, as the Nobody couldn't focus on suppressing her. "Just give it up you freak! Give me my teammate back!" Raven shouted as red Aura started to blaze around her eyes.

Mother Reaper let out a small chuckle at the sight of Raven's little display. "To think the holder of one of little Liam's Aunt's powers would be one of his past tormentors!" Mother Reaper said with a cackle as she was still struggling against Summer. "I should have realized that something was influencing my actions and the rest of our actions! I was weak and Liam suffered for it, but I refuse to make that mistake again!" Raven said as swung her sword as a blade of magic flew towards Mother Reaper as she struggled.
             Mother Reaper was hit by the magic as she was knocked off her feet. Mother Reaper was at the end of her rope, no more games! "Just so you know Summer Rose, you could have prevented this!" Mother Reaper thought as she started to exude large amounts of dark energy. "W-What are you doing?!" Summer shouted as the dark energy was making it hard for her to resist. Mother Reaper got back up as she moved at blinding speeds and delivered a powerful punch to Raven's chest that sent the bandit leader flying backwards and slamming into the ground.
               Mother Reaper appeared behind Ruby with her Scythe raised above her head. "Mother Reaper don't!" Summer pleaded but it was too late. With one swift motion Mother Reaper cut off both of Ruby Rose's legs as the girl collapsed. Everything went silent as Raven and Yang looked on in horror. Yang grit her teeth as she stood up, eyes red and fire erupted from her body. "YOU SADISTIC MONSTER!!!" Yang roared as she ran towards Mother Reaper in rage with her fist ready to kill the Nobody for what she did. "Yang don't!" Raven shouted at her daughter, but it was to late for the brawler to stop her attack.
               Mother Reaper in another swift and fluid motion cut off Yang's arm along with most of her blonde locks. Yang collapsed as well as Mother Reaper let out a sinister cackle that only grew louder. "What's the matter Summer Rose?! Done fighting against me after witnessing me cripple your children?! To bad you weren't strong enough to stop me!" Mother Reaper said as her cackle became hysteric at this point. Summer Rose went silent as Mother Reaper felt her sinking to the deepest depths of her own Heart, her gambit had paid off completely, she was free.
              A dark clawed hand grabbed Mother Reaper by the back of her head as she was suddenly thrown into the air. Liam in Anti-Form threw the Nobody high into the air before jumping up so he was above the Nobody. Liam slammed both his feet into Mother Reaper's chest as they fell towards the ground. A crater was created as Mother Reaper impacted the ground, but Liam wasn't done yet as he started to claw at Mother Reaper like a predator brutalizing it's prey. Liam let out a demonic screech, but Mother Reaper quickly hit him away with her Scythe as he was knocked out of Anti-Form.
Liam landed next to Raven as he quickly got back on his feet as he summoned Way to the Dawn. "It ends here Mother Reaper! I'm freeing Summer Rose here and now!" Liam shouted as he glared at the Nobody. "Oh Liam, it's to late Summer Rose has sunken to the deepest part of her Heart! Besides I've completed what I've come here to do!" Mother Reaper said as an orb of Dark Energy flew towards Mother Reaper that gently landed in her hand. "There it is, the dark energy that I put in Cinder, now it has returned home and has grown stronger." Mother Reaper said as she absorbed the energy before disappearing through a Dark Corridor leaving the group alone again.
Liam quickly ran over to Ruby and Yang as he and Raven tried to patch them up. "L-L-Liam, go to Beacon! The sky!" Ruby stuttered out as she pointed towards the sky and saw that it was blanketed in Darkness. "No way! You two are seriously injured! First I save both of you!" Liam said before he was grabbed by Yang with her remaining arm. "What good is saving us if there is no world to return to when it's over?!" Yang said as she pushed Liam away. "Liam, go I'll take care of Ruby and Yang." Raven said as Liam nodded before turning on his heel and started making his way towards Beacon.

At the top of Beacon's Tower
Most of the group had been knocked down by the Organization Members as Kairi was the only one still standing. Kairi was currently staring down what was the mass of Darkness. Master Xehanort has arrived to finish the final step of the plan.

"Now then, step aside young one, I am on a tight schedule and need to get to my new vessel immediately." Master Xehanort said in a calm tone as he stepped towards Kairi. "I won't let you have Zane!" Kairi shouted as she swung Destiny's Embrace at Master Xehanort, who caught it with his hand. "Now, now don't start a fight that will end in failure young one." Master Xehanort said as he generated a small amount of Dark Energy that he shot into Kairi's chest, knocking the girl to the ground. "Now to claim my new vessel." Master Xehanort said as he walked towards Zane's collapsed body with a smile on his face.
"N-No, d-don't you dare touch Zane!" Kairi stuttered our as she tried to stand up, but to no avail. Xehanort reaches towards Zane's body, but was slashed in the back by something. Xehanort was knocked away from Zane as he turned to see Liam standing there with Way to the Dawn at the ready. "Your not taking my friend Xehanort!" Liam said as he sunk into his fighting stance. Xehanort chuckled as he applauded Liam. "I commend your bravery, but you won't be stopping my plans this time." Xehanort said as he walked towards Liam calmly.
Xehanort was getting closer to Liam, but swiftly turned around to catch another Keyblade. This time it was Mickey who attack the Elder Keyblade Master. "Ah if it isn't King Mickey, I should have known you would have arrived." Xehanort said as he threw Mickey towards Liam. Mickey was able to recover and land on the ground next to Liam. "Hey old man hurry it up! We're almost outta time!" Xigbar said in an impatient tone as he looked at Master Xehanort. Before anything else could be said as beam of light struck the tower as another figure appeared, a man in blue robes with stars all over it, Master Yen Sid has arrived at Beacon.
"This ends Xehanort, you've lost." Yen Sid said calmly as Xehanort simply laughed at the Wizard. "You underestimate me Yen Sid, my plan is on the brink of success!" Xehanort said confidently as he smiled at the Wizard. "It May look that way, but you made one fatal mistake. You tried to turn one of my students into your vessel!" Yen Sid said as he held up his hands. Light magic hit Xehanort as he stumbled backwards, his body starting to fade away. "I may not get a new vessel, but my plan still succeeded to some extent." Xehanort said before he completely turned into Darkness as the sky cleared up.
Young Xehanort disappeared as well, while Xemnas and Xigbar quickly escaped through a Dark Corridor. "Master Yen Sid, we have to hurry! Ruby and Yang" Yen Sid stooped Liam from continuing by putting his hand up. "I healed them before coming here Liam, they are currently in the school infirmary. Right now we need to worry about young Zane." Yen Sid said as he gently picked the boy up. "Liam, follow me. If we wish to save Zane, we will need your help." Yen Sid said as he led Liam to Ozpin's office where both his Grandparents were waiting for them.
"Thank goodness your okay!" Salem said as she pulled Liam into a hug. "I'm fine Grandmother, it's Zane I'm worried about." Liam said as he hugged his Grandmother back. "Yes, well things certainly have been hectic today. Luckily with Organization 13 and the Heartless gone for the time being we can rest easy." Ozpin said as he placed a hand on Liam's shoulder. "You seem rather unconcerned with our Grandson's safety Ozma." Salem growled as she glared at her ex-husband. "Liam is my top student, I know he can handle anything thrown at him." Ozpin responded as he returned the look.
Before the situation could escalate, Liam stood between his grandparents. "Stop it! Both of you! You are both to blame for what led to this war and it needs to stop! Your both angry, but you still love each other, so please just stop." Liam said in a tired tone as he didn't want this kind of fight. Ozpin and Salem both looked at each other not in anger, but in embarrassment. "We've made a fine of mess of things over the course of so much time haven't we?" Ozpin said as he looked at his ex-wife calmly. "Yes, we have both made horrible mistakes that have cost us what we held dear." Salem said as she also looked down in shame and embarrassment.
"Now then, Liam let me go get Glynda, then we can focus on saving Zane." Yen Sid said as he left the office to find the teacher in question. Liam walked over to Zane's passed out body that was sat up against the wall. "Hang in there Zane, we'll save you." Liam said as he took Zane's hand in his own. Ozpin and Salem both watched their grandson in worry as he could possibly lose his best friend. "We can talk later about how we should move forward, for now we need to support Liam." Ozpin said as Salem nodded in agreement. The duo walked up to Liam and sat beside him as they waited for Yen Sid to return.

So Mother Reaper and Organization 13 have retreated for the time being. Although Ruby and Yang were severely injured and Zane still hasn't woke up yet. It appears that the Final Battle isn't over just yet! How will Liam wake Zane up? What dangers will stand in his way? What other trials will he face in order to save his best friend?
