In the last chapter Liam and Mickey made their way to Patch and explained the Mother Reaper situation to the Rose-Xiao Long Family. Liam also received two new Keyblades from Ruby and Yang in the process. Now Liam and Mickey are headed to the Land of Darkness.

Liam could see the wasteland where no light shines through as he landed the Bullhead on the outskirts of the Land of Darkness. "Well Liam are you ready for this?" Mickey asked as he looked over at the teenager. "As ready as I can be Uncle Mick. Let's hope my grandmother doesn't send to many Grimm to try and kill us." Liam said as he and Mickey both summoned their Keyblades before beginning their journey through the Land of Darkness. Liam held Way to the Dawn in his hand as he looked around for any sign of Grimm, but to his surprise there were no signs of the creatures.
                 "It appears we're safe for now Liam." Mickey said as he relaxed slightly with no Grimm in the area around them. "Can I ask you something Uncle Mick?" Liam asked as Mickey turned his head to look at him. "What is it Liam?" Mickey asked with a curious tone in his voice. "Grandfather said my Aunts were the Original Maidens, yet he gave the Original Maidens their powers after him and Grandmother fought. Shouldn't my Aunts have been dead at that point?" Liam asked as something just wasn't adding up about parts of the story he's been told.
                Mickey let out a small chuckle as he wasn't surprised Liam noticed that glaring little detail. "Well both statements are true, some context is missing." Mickey said as Liam cocked his head to the side in confusion. "You see your Aunts did die in the crossfire of Ozma and Salem's battle. Your father had just started his training under Yen Sid so he couldn't prevent the fight. Your father was devastated by the deaths of his sisters of course and cut communication with both your grandparents as a result." Mickey explained as Liam nodded his head in understanding.
             "Okay, but that doesn't explain how my Aunts were the Original Maidens if they died long before the Maidens came into existence." Liam said as he was still drawing a complete blank on this rather confusing puzzle. "Under normal circumstances that would be the case, but your Aunts' hearts had taken refuge inside your father's heart." Mickey explained as they began climbing a hill as they still had yet to encounter any kind of Grimm. "So their Hearts found their way to my father? What happened next?" Liam asked as he was curious to see what really happened.
"Years passed and Ozma eventually became the lonely hermit from the story of the Maidens. Around the same time Master Yen Sid realized that your Aunts' Hearts had left Lancelot's body. Turns out that your Aunts' Hearts were waiting to be reborn. They were reborn as the four girls that eventually became the Maidens from the story." Mickey explained as Liam was starting to understand the bigger picture. "One last thing, how were they reborn? That's not something that happens often right?" Liam asked as he remembered Master Yen Sid saying that rebirth was an extremely rare occurrence.
"Master Yen Sid's theory is that when your father obtained the Power of Waking and became a Keyblade Master, that power awoken their hearts, allowing them to be reborn." Mickey explained as it all seemed to click in Liam's head. "So they took refuge in my dad's heart, because they almost knew that their brother would take care of them." Liam said as Mickey nodded his head in confirmation. "It's strange, we've been walking for close to an hour now and no Grimm have attacked, what is Salem planning?" Mickey said as he looked around for any signs of the monsters that inhabit this land.
Liam looked around for any signs of Grimm as well, but yet again nothing in sight. "Either she wants us to make it to her castle or something is currently holding her attention." Liam said as he was starting to get worried about what was really going on right now. "Well we can figure it out later, right now we have to prepare for our talk." Mickey said as Liam gave him a confused look, until he noticed that they were in fact at Salem's castle already. "What are the odds? Well it certainly won't be safe for us once we enter." Liam said as Mickey nodded before they both started to make their way towards the castle.

Inside Evernight Castle
Liam and Mickey walked through the halls of Evernight Castle as they looked around for any signs of life. "I don't like how quiet it is Liam, stay on your guard!" Mickey said as he looked around in all directions in order to stay alert. Eventually both of them made it to the end of the hallway where it opened up to what appeared to be a throne room with a meeting table in the center.

"Okay, where is everyone?" Liam said as he looked around the empty room for anything at all. "What are you doing here?" Liam and Mickey turned to see Panther hanging from the wall with her tendrils as she looked down at the duo. Panther lowered herself to the ground as she walked up to them. Mickey was about to summon his Keyblade, but Liam stopped him by placing his hand on his shoulder. "Panther right? Where is everyone?" Liam asked as Panther stopped a small distance away from them with a predatory look being obvious in her eyes.
             "My teammates are close by, but to think you would be foolish enough to come here with only a mouse by your side." Panther said in a amused tone as she walked right up to Liam as he remained calm. "Have you accepted your fate? Do have no more will to fight?" Panther taunted as she used one of her tendrils to remove her mask revealing her sharp teeth that seemed to go across her cheeks.

"No, I wanted to talk." Liam said as Panther's smile faltered completely as she was not expecting that response. "You want to talk? With your enemies? Are you feeling alright?" Panther asked as she was starting to think Liam has gone completely mad. "No, I honestly just wish to talk, it's kinda complicated." Liam said as Panther only blinked in what was still most likely disbelief.
"Hey Panther what are you doing in here?" The trio turned to see Thorn, Frost, and Yin enter the throne room. "What the hell are you doing here?!" Yin shouted as she pulled her shotgun and aimed it at Liam. "He apparently came to talk." Panther said as the rest of Team Grimm looked just as confused as she did. "To talk? You are aware we're enemies right?" Frost said as she pointed her Rapier at Liam. "Like I told Panther, it's complicated." Liam said as he scratched the back of his head as he really didn't know how to start explaining this entire situation to them.
"What do we have here? Ozpin's tip student has wondered into my castle? And King Mickey as well? Has Yen Sid sent you to kill me?" Everyone looked to see Salem standing at the other end of the meeting table with a stern look on her face.

"So your Salem, I would introduce myself, but I feel like you already know who I am." Liam said as Salem cracked the smallest of smiles as she looked at Liam. "Your every smart for someone your age Liam Nikos, now what brings you to my domain?" Salem asked as she slowly walked towards him. "I wanted to talk to you about something, please I do not wish to fight." Liam said as he really didn't want an all out brawl to break out.
"To talk? How curious, so your not here on a mission? You came here of your own free will?" Salem said as she was now interested in what Liam has to say. "Yes, may we speak?" Liam asked as Salem stopped in front of him with a small smirk still on her face. "You have my attention, don't waste my time now." Salem said as she waited for Liam to speak. "Does the name Lancelot mean anything to you?" Liam asked as Salem's eyes flared with rage as she began charging dark magic in her hands. "Who told you that name?!" Salem demanded as Team Grimm backed away in fear from their Mistress's rage.
"W-Wait! Master Yen Sid forced Ozpin to tell me the truth! That's how I know Lancelot!" Liam said quickly as he tried to diffuse the situation. "Why would that Wizard force that fool to tell you of all people?!" Salem said as she was still very much angered by Liam's words. "Because I'm his son!!" Liam shouted as the entire room went completely silent at his words. Salem's magic fades away as her eyes widened and she looked at Liam in fear and disbelief. "Y-Your what?" Salem said in a broken tone as she looked at Liam with a very conflicted look in her eyes.
"What did you do to Lady Salem?!" Tin shouted as she tried to grab Liam with her giant clawed hand, but was blasted away by Salem's magic. "Lady Salem why?" Yin asked as she looked at her in confusion. Salem slowly walked up to Liam as she gently rested a hand on his cheek as she looked him over. Suddenly tears started to fall from Salem's eyes as she looked at Liam. "You remind me so much of him!" Salem said as Liam gently placed his hand on top of hers. "It's nice to finally meet you Grandmother." Liam said as Salem pulled Liam into a hug.
"Why is Lady Salem hugging him?" Thorn asked in confusion as she watched her Lady hug their enemy. "Lancelot was Salem and Ozpin's eldest child, he is Liam's father, so Salem is Liam's Grandmother." Mickey explained as Team Grimm all had stunned looks on their faces. Liam and Salem broke the hug as Salem looked at him with a smile on her face. "Now, why are you here Liam?" Salem asked in a much gentler tone as she looked at him. "Organization 13 plans on plunging all of Remnant into Darkness. They plan to mount an attack against Beacon Academy to accomplish this goal." Liam explained as Salem frowned at him.
"Liam, while it is nice to know my son had a child and to finally meet you, I refuse to help your Grandfather in anyway." Salem said as she expected Liam to get mad. "I know Grandmother, Grandfather can be stubborn, but do you still love him?" Liam asked as he at least wanted to know the answer to that question. Salem let out a tired sigh as she thought about it for a second. "Of course I still love him, he's just so foolish sometimes! Then again so am I, I made my own son want nothing to do with me." Salem said in a saddened tone as she looked down at her lap in complete sadness.
Liam walked up to his Grandmother before placing a hand on her shoulder. "My father never stopped loving you, he just wished you two would stop fighting and come together again." Liam said as he tried to comfort his Grandmother as best as he could manage. "Your father always tried to reason with us, yet we both always tried to force him to take a side. What kind of parents do that to their own child?" Salem said in a disappointed tone as she still looked down in shame. "Grandmother, I know it's hard, but I came here to try and do what my father did, so please take it into consideration!" Liam said as Salem looked up at him and smiled.
It was only for a brief second, but Salem could have sworn that she saw an ethereal version of her son Lancelot standing behind Liam. "You truly are his son, I will help Liam, so I can at the very least make it up to your father for all the wrongs I committed against him." Salem said as she once again smiled at Liam. "Thank you grandmother, now I should start making my way back to Beacon Academy for the upcoming battle." Liam said as he turned to walk back to Mickey, but was blocked by Team Grimm. "Is something wrong?" Liam asked as suddenly all four girls dropped down on one knee and bowed to him, which caught him completely off guard.
"Master Liam, please accept our apology. If we had known of your relation to Lady Salem, we would not have acted so harshly." Panther said as she refused to make eye contact. "It's fine you four really. I must be going now, time is of the essence." Liam said as he and Mickey said their farewells to Salem and Team Grimm. "Thank you for your time! We promise to come back once we take care of Organization 13!" Mickey said as they were about to exit the throne room, but were stopped by the sounds of footsteps approaching. Clapping could be heard as it got closer and closer as Young Xehanort and another Organization 13 member with their good up, who was holding Emerald and Mercury entered the room.

Cliffhanger! So Liam and Mickey made it to through the Land of Darkness while talking more about Liam's father and the rest of his biological family. He met his Grandmother and was able to convince her to help. Although Young Xehanort and another hooded member of Organization 13 arrived. What is Young Xehanort doing at Evernight Castle?
