Before:
"You better come back before they do their checks! We're not getting in trouble because of you!" One of my dorm-mates said. "Sure I'll be fine" I responded, grabbing Crescent Rose and then jumping out the window.

'From Dust Till Dawn' isn't too far. And it's quiet. With Crescent Rose, I can do anything. I just need to see the pictures of the latest weapons because THEY'RE SO AWESOME.

"Hi!" I say to the shopkeep. He nods in recognition, and I go over to the magazines and put my headphones on. I kinda zone out in the excitement.

Suddenly I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn around and there's this weird guy. He signals for me to take my headphones off.

"Yes?" I ask. "I said, put your hands in the air now!" Ah he's a henchman. Cool! "Are you... robbing me?" I ask, curious. "Yes!" He says frustrated. "Ohh". And then I kick him in the stomach.

After:
"I trust you'll stay out of trouble for the last week at Signal?" The blonde lady asks sternly. "Yes, ma'am" I reply, still in awe that I'm in the presence of an ACTUAL HUNTRESS. "Until we meet again, Ruby Rose" and she goes. I climb back up to the dorm.

"What happened? You were gone for ages. We could have got in trouble!" the same dorm-mate as earlier asks. "Well, um..." I said, and explained the story to them. "The bad guys got away, but I was in the presence of an actual huntress though! She was awesome! I can't wait until we're like her" I said, still on the sugar rush from earlier.

"Awesome! Anyway, we need to be quiet. Go sleep Ruby" the dorm-mate said. "Ughck, fine" I responded, not understanding why she didn't want to hear about the huntress.

*Morning, at lunch*

"Ruby, is what Uncle Qrow said TRUE? You're going to Beacon with me next month?" Yang asks. "Yeah!" I responded. "I can't believe it! We get to go together! I can't wait!" She exclaims, excited and then goes to hug me. "Just be a bit quiet about it, I don't want people to know and make all a fuss about it. I just want to be a normal person learning to be a huntress like everyone else" I reply, picking up a cookie from my lunchbox and then eating it. "Sure, fine. We still gotta work on your hand-to-hand combat though, even if you are going to Beacon with me" "But why would I need to if I have Crescent Rose?" I reply, checking to make sure she's still with me.

Before Yang can reply, I hear a "Hey, kiddo". "UNCLE QROW!!". "Professor Ozpin told me what happened, good job kid. Just don't forget what you've learned because I won't be there to help you". He says, sternly but smiling.

"I've got Ruby's back anyway. Nothing bad will happen on my watch! Always gonna look after her" Yang budges in confidently. "I know you'll both be fine as long as you keep practicing. Anyway, I'm being sent away again. With classes finishing, I'm not needed at the school to teach. Catch ya later kiddos". And he leaves.

*1 week later, at home*

"Oz told me what happened. I'm really proud of you. Your mom would be proud of you too. Do you want to go and see her?" Dad asks. "Sure, I wanna tell her all about what happened!" I reply excitedly. "I'll go with you! Then we can get some practice in afterwards." Yang says, and we begin to walk outside. "Come back for dinner!" Dad yells as we walk out.

When we're at Patch, dad never lets either of us go too far outside by ourselves because of the Grimm. Ever since mom died he's been like that.

We reach the gravestone and Yang waits by the trees while I go over. "Hey mom. A lot has happened in the last month at signal. I fought my first bad guy! He got away but I got to see a real huntress. I also got to meet Professor Ozpin! He's moved me up two years so I can go to Beacon with Yang. That means I'm two years closer to being able to be like you. It's going to be a little harder, but Yang promised me she'll help me. Hopefully we'll end up on a team together so we can work together as teammates like you and dad did after Beacon"

"I miss you. Dad and Yang miss you too. Dad tries to make cookies but they aren't as good as yours. Yang misses watching you fight the Grimm in the forest, but now she's doing the same and I'm watching her. She's trying to teach me hand-to-hand combat, but I like fighting with Crescent Rose"

"Oh! Did I tell you? Just before we went back to Signal after the week off, I discovered my semblance! When we were practicing I got scared and I ran really fast to dodge the attack. It was awesome and I'm trying to practice with it now so I can use it properly when I'm a huntress!"

Yang signals that its time to go. "It was nice talking, mom. I'll see you again soon" I say, and then walk away.
