Okay so my idea is that Ozpin is based off of Odin from Nordic mythology. So for starters lets go with Ozpin's line of "I have made more mistakes then any man, woman, or child..." Odin was known for constantly trying to prevent Ragnarok and unfortunately constantly failing. Odin was also had two birds that would fly out and tell him about any things going on in the nine realms and what two bird themed characters are known to associate with Oz? Qrow and Raven though the latter of the two may be more of a stretch but it could still work. Given that Qrow is acting as Oz's eyes and ears out in the field which could be something else that Raven does beside be a terrible parent and misinterpret Darwin's works. It also helps that he has surveillance all over Beacon academy. Odin was also known for how strong he was and for how he got said power. Basically Nordic mythology had equivalent exchange for almost everything. You want power you gotta suffer for it and Odin was no different. To become as powerful as he was Odin had to hang himself (no joke) from the world tree with a spear jabbed into his side. Now depending on what you want to go by he either hung himself from his ankles, his wrists, or from the neck, myths get a little iffy in some spots like that. For the purpose of this "theory" (its really more of an idea or a guess) I am going with the last of the three. So we go off that we have that little scarf/collar/thing that he has around his neck which could be a reference to Odin hanging himself or, the darker of the two, he is hiding scares. Like I said earlier Odin had a lot of power because of this and I doubt anyone deny that Oz is powerful after his little display with Cinder. Well that's what I think. What do you think?
