Saiyan Roar
(Next morning)
"Ahhh! That's the best sleep I've had in years!" I yawned, standing up and doing my stretches. I forgot how comfortable sleeping in a bed could be. Sleeping in the drivers seat of a car will do that to you. As I stretched and warmed up, I remembered what Wendi said yesterday.
"They waged war on the humans, displaying their superior strength and mastery of an element known as Ki." Ki... what is Ki? Is it like Dust? Fire? Electricity? And if all Saiyans possess it, how do I use it? I put the thought out of my head and continued to stretch. As I did, Ice woke up. He yawned and popped his back before encasing himself in an ice cocoon. Instead of taking hot showers, Ice takes "ice baths" where he covers himself in ice, using the natural heat from his body to melt the ice and use that water to bathe. Personally, I think it's a really dumb idea, but I can't argue with results. I took a quick shower and got dressed as Wendi and Lance got up. Wendi's fox ears twitched, indicating that she was a little groggy. Ice finished his ice bath and put on his uniform.
"So what happened with Ruby in the hall yesterday?" Ice asked, a smug look on his face. My face went bright red as I started to stutter.
"I-um... uh... NOTHING! Nothing happened!" I said. Ice raised an eyebrow.
"Mmm-hmm. Sure. Because the way you're acting TOTALLY screams uneventful." He replied. Wendi and Lance finished getting dressed, returning to their beds. Lance grabbed his bag while Wendi put her hat back on. I double checked my person, making sure everything was in order. Thankfully, it was.
"Alright, if we don't have any more business to deal with here, off to class!" Insaid, leading the others out the door. As we walked to our classroom, I couldn't help but ponder my earlier question again: what is Ki? How does it work? Why can't regular humans use it? Before I could answer any of my own questions, we had arrived. "Man, how long was I spacing out?" I asked. Suddenly, I heard people running behind me. I turned around and nearly turned white from what I saw. Both Teams RWBY and JNPR were running full speed at us. I tapped Ice's shoulder, trying to warn him.
"Not now man. I'm trying to figure out what this class is about." He replied. I quickly covered my face.
"Guys, brace for impact!" I yelled as RWBY and JNPR smashed into us, pushing us through the door to the classroom. We all laid on the floor, a little dazed. My head was spinning. That's when I saw our teacher: Peter Port. No offense, but the guy lived up to his name.
"Ah, the class has arrived! Just in time too! Come, take your seats. There's a lot to cover today." He said. After we all got our bearings, we took our seats. Ruby and her team were up front, Jaune and the rest of JNPR were behind them and we were in the front row on the other side of the steps. Weiss pulled out a Notebook, ready to take notes. "Monsters. Demons. Prowlers of the night. Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as 'prey'!" Port started to ramble, so I tuned him out, pondering Ki once more. Did Taro have this mystical element? If he did, why didn't he tell me? I'm his brother. I deserve to know this kind of magic junk from his post mortem apparition! Man, the more I talk about this, the crazier I sound. I stopped tuning Port out, actually bothering to listen to his speech.
"Let's see what this guy has to say." I thought in my head.
"The moral of the story? A true huntsman must be honorable." I looked over to Ruby, who was somehow balancing an apple on top of a book on top of a pencil. Can Ruby just defy the laws of physics or something? "A true huntsman must be dependable." Ruby was now fast asleep. "A true huntsman must be strategic, well educated, and wise." Ruby was picking her nose. Okay, eww. "So who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" My hand shot up faster than you can say "oops." "Oh, so two of you think you're up to the challenge? Well, let's see about that." Huh? What is he talking about? I looked over to see Weiss raising her hand as well. "You, young man! You can go first! Step forward and face your opponent." Port said as two assistants wheeled in a cage. Alright! Fighting stuff! THAT I can do! I quickly changed into my normal clothes, lightly clutching Crimson in her scabbard.
"I'm ready!" I said, getting into a defensive position. Port clutched his axe gun hybrid.
"Okay! Let the match begin!" He said, breaking the lock on the cage. Out charged a Grimm that looked like a boar. Okay, never seen this type before. I quickly dodged out of the way as the Grimm turned around to charge again. It's got a lot of armor on its face and body. Going for its belly is probably my best option. Plus those tusks could do some damage. I drew Crimson from her scabbard, loading a fire Dust shell. At the boar charged me again, I fired the shell, releasing a fireball from the barrel. The fire distracted the Grimm, giving me my window of attack. I quickly zipped forwards, slashing at the beast. I heard the distinctive clunk of a tusk hitting the ground. The Grimm shrieked, charging again. I tried to dodge, but the little bugger hit Crimson, knocking her out of my hand.
"Crap!" I thought to myself. Without a weapon or a Semblance, I'm defenseless!
"Oho! Now what will you do without your weapon?" Port asked. I need to think of something. That thing'll trample me if I don't. If I can't cut it, I'll need to stop it some other way. Wait a second... if I can't use my weapon, I'll just use my hands! I smiled confidently as the Grimm rolled into a ball. It sped at me very fast. I put my hands in front of myself, readying my attack. "Ooh, hand to hand! Different and dangerous, but I like it!" Port chimed in.
"Be careful, Taro! You might get hurt!" Ruby said from the seats.
"Trust me Ruby, I know what I'm--GAH!" The Grimm hit my hands, pushing my back some. I pushed back as hard as I could, but the thing kept going. Alright, no more Mr. Nice Saiyan. I yelled, turning Super Saiyan once again. I managed to grab the remaining tusk, proceeding to spin on my heels before throwing the Grimm into the air. Quickly grabbing Crimson, I flew into the air and sliced the Grimm in two. At I landed, the two halves of the body landed behind me. I powered down, putting Crimson back in her scabbard.
"Bravo! Bravo! It seems we are in the presence of a hunter in training! I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Ms. Schnee, you may demonstrate your skills tomorrow. Be sure to cover the assigned readings and stay vigilant. Class dismissed." Port said. As I walked towards the door, I was joined by the rest of my team, but something didn't feel right. I felt... sick. Without warning, I ran back to the dorm and looked at myself in the mirror. I was pale, sweating what felt like gallons and shaking all over.
"W-what's happening to me?" I groaned as I held my stomach. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in my back. I screamed in agony until... it suddenly stopped all at once. Something was different. Something was there that definitely wasn't before. I then realized what it was. Reaching into my pants, I felt something... furry. I grabbed whatever this is, feeling a weakness all over. I quickly released it and regained my strength. I could feel everything that this thing touched. Slowly, it creeped out of my pants, revealing a long brown monkey tail. That must be the Saiyan tail Wendi was talking about. Why did it just emerge now? What can it do? This needs some research.
