New-ish friends

As Ruby, Ice and I walked to the initiation, another boy joined us. He was kind of tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. He also had on a set of armor on top of a black hoodie with blue jeans.

"All I'm saying is motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!" He said as I rolled my eyes.

"Look, I'm sorry. Vomit boy was the first thing that came to mind." Ruby replied.

"Well, the name's Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it!" He said. Ruby, Ice and I gave him skeptical looks.

"Do they?" We asked at the same time. While Ruby and Jaune were talking, I got a better look at Ruby. She was wearing a long sleeved black combat dress with red laces up the front and a high collar. Her cloak was pinned to her dress by crosses. On her belt was a flaming rose pendant. Her skirt was black with red trim. She also wore a pair of black boots with red soles and red laces. That getup... it seems so familiar,  it I can't put my finger on it. Then, it hit me. That night...

(Flashback)

As Ice was asleep one night, I drove up to the Cliffside Forest to clear my mind. It's the one place that I can go to that holds any emotional weight for me. I also wanted to go there to pay my respects to Summer Rose. Before my brother died, Summer rescued him before being killed herself. As Ice and I were fleeing my house, my brother gave me a piece of white cloth with red on the inside. Upon further investigation, it was a piece of Summer Rose's cloak. I've kept it with me ever since as the one piece of my brother I have left. As I approached the snow covered cliffside, I saw someone standing in front of Summer's grave. The figure was wearing a bright red cloak with rose pedals swirling around them. I pulled to the side as they quickly turned around.

"Hello? Is someone there?" The figure asked, sounding like a young girl. I placed on my dark blue jacket and stepped out, staying hidden behind the trees. The girl began to walk away into the woods and out of concern for her safety, I took to the trees and followed her. She entered an open field as Beowolf variants quickly closed in. I was about to jump down and save her, but she vanished in a cluster of rose pedals, reappearing in the air and revealing her face. She looked very young to be able to jump that high. She pulled a rectangular object off of her belt and shot it at one of them, blowing its face in half. I watched as she continued to decimate the Beowolfs coming at her. Halfway through the slaughter, she converted her rifle into a giant red scythe, slicing and dicing the Beowolfs. She finished off the last one, striking a pose as bullets rained all around her. I began to head back, but one last Beowolf charged at her under me. She was completely oblivious to it. I jumped down and pulled out Doom.

"NO! Look out!" I screamed, throwing the sword. It penetrated the Beowolf through the head, killing it instantly. As the monster rolled to a stop, I walked up and pulled the sword out of it, catching the gaze of the girl. Unfortunately, I didn't have my blue contacts in, revealing my true eye color under my hood. Years ago, my brother told me to hide my real eye color so people wouldn't be afraid of me.

"Thanks." She said. Scared, I turned and ran as fast as I could. "Hey, wait!" I heard her yell behind me. I raced back to the car and drove off as fast as I could.

(End flashback)

"Taro? Taro! Stop spacing out!" Ice yelled, snapping his fingers in front of my face. I shook my head, snapping out of my daze.

"Huh? What? Oh, sorry. I was just... reminiscing." I said. Ice looked at me with half lidded eyes.

"Yeah, I can see that, stupid. Try getting some sleep next time." He replied. The four of us stayed in silence for a few seconds.

"So... I got this thing." Ruby said, pulling out a ginormous red scythe and planting it into the ground. My eyes went wide.

"Ice, is that what you wanted me to see?" I asked. He nodded. Yikes... I do not want to mess with her, even though I've seen that weapon before. Jaune stepped back.

"Woah! Is that a scythe?" He asked.

"It's also a customizable, high impact sniper rifle." Ruby replied, gripping her weapon with both hands. I fail to see how a tiny little girl like her can hold a giant heavy weapon like that!

"A wha-?" Jaune asked. Ruby cocked the weapon.

"It's also a gun." I said.

"Oh. Cool!" Jaune replied. Ruby folded up her weapon and stored it on her belt again.

"So, what do you guys have?" Ruby asked. Ice pulled out Emmy and Jaiden, his twin pistols. One was a golden yellow color while the other was a dark green.

"Meet Emmy and Jaiden, my two girls. Build these two beauties from scratch. These two can shoot up to 80 rounds per five seconds. Not to mention I can remotely detonate any bullet fired." Ice said as Ruby eyed the guns. "Although, that's not all they can do." He flipped out the guns as the barrels extended and the trigger guards on the underside flipped around. The barrels separated into two halves, revealing an extendable blade in each. He connected the two together, forming his other weapon "Emerald Death." Ruby stared on with stars in her eyes. "This is Emerald Death, a custom glaive powered by firepower." He said as the blades began to spin while the hilt remained still. Ice smiled.

"Yeah, yeah. We get it Ice. Stop showing off and let me show off mine." I grumbled, shoving Ice out of the way. "Allow me to introduce Crimson Destroyer, or if you prefer... Doom, my boomstick!" I said, pulling the custom built katana out of its shieth. Ice and I built our weapons from scratch from pieces of junk parts and scrap metal we found over the years. "This baby has three different versions for three different ways to fight."

I swung Dee over my finger with her pump lever. "Version one: Slice and dice!" I then pushed the second button up on the pump.

"Version two: melee mode! This way, if anything gets too close..." I swung the gun around, aiming right at Jaune. "Boom! No more face!" I said. Jaune turned white and collapsed. "And last but not least..." I pushed the top button.

"Version three: slugger! The barrel actually breaks apart to form the blade." Ruby gasped and grabbed my weapon.

"This is amazing! I've never seen anything like it before! This is so cool!" She squealed before realizing what she was doing and handing me back my baby. "Sorry. I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons. I guess I went a little overboard designing Cresant Rose." She said, rubbing the back of her head with red on her face.

"Oh, don't worry about it. I'm kind of a nut myself. I don't blame you for geeking out. I would too." I said, holding her shoulder. She looked at me and smiled, the blush disappearing. Jaune got back up and held his sword, obviously a little envious.

"So Jaune, what do you have?" Ruby asked. Jaune hid his sword behind his back.

"Um... I'll show you later. Let's get going." He said, nervously. The three of us didn't question it, so we continued onwards into the building where the initiation was.
