Doyle x Reader: Always

Ever since Doyle died, you've been a mess. The rainbow has been worrying about you a lot, but you just waved them off and said that they had a war in their hands.

You were right though. The only thing is that the war they were holding caused your love, Doyle's death. General Donald Doyle. Awkward, shy, a weenie as Donut says. But to you, he was your love. The way he smiled at you made you want to drop to your feet. The way his face turned bright red when embarrassed or angry. The way he would faint when a gun was pointed at his visor.

All those things, you just had to love. You missed kissing his soft lips to make him stop rambling. It was the most fun things to do to him.
But when he died on that explosion, when he risked himself for his army, no one thought of him as a coward anymore. He was a selfless man now.

You dived into your bed, yawning. You curled up and hugged yourself. A tear shed from your cheek, falling dreadfully slow. You were cold without his warm body behind you, hugging you close and kissing your hair goodnight. Even with all these blankets draped on you, you were cold. You were empty.

You shut your eyes, blackness enveloping you quickly. You had a dream, about Doyle. About your love.

Dream:

(Y/n)? Where's my love?" Doyle called out in his thick accent. You giggled quietly, hiding yourself behind the desk. Doyle found you quickly, holding out an arm for you to grab. Doyle blushed slightly when you got up and placed a short and sweet kiss on his soft lips.

"Ok, ok. There's children in the room." Epsilon teased, gesturing to Caboose. Doyle blushed harder, but you just rolled your eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. So what now?" You asked Carolina. Carolina pushed back a strand of her fiery red hair, "Well now we have to blow up the reactor. Doyle?"

Doyle turned his head towards the freelancer. "Uh-Uhm yes?" Doyle stuttered, startled.

"Would you do the honors of blowing up this reactor?" Carolina questioned slowly. Doyle nodded, hesitating at first. He turned towards you. "Be safe." You whispered to him, cupping his face

He smiled slightly, a little worry traced along. "I will. Always." He locked lips with you slowly, as if it was the last kiss that would ever be shared between the 2 of you.

Huh. Always.

You woke up from the dream, your chest heaving. "Hey, calm down!" Tucker said, holding your arm in q tight grasp. You struggled a little before giving up.

"Where am I?" You asked, breathless. Tucker looked down.

"You were in a coma for a few days." Tucker said quietly.

He continued, "You had a panic attack in your bed. What were you dreaming abo-" Tucker paused.

"Him?" Tucker said, concerned. You nodded, sniffling. "Hey, it's gonna be ok." Tucker patted your back. You smiled a little smile.

"Stay with me for now?" You asked Tucker.

Tucker smiled. "Not for now," He shook his head.

"Always, sis."

Always.
