okay, i've recovered from moulin rouge! i am now watching the new wallace and grommit movie. and am back with another update. this one is for gia and her two marvel fics, BLUE VELVET and LUCKY STRIKE; the canon love interests being peter parker and clint barton 😍😍 respectively 😍😍. star nation won with these!

as i stated in my previous update, i find spider-man covers quite daunting because of the abundance of resources available to make them. so i went the other way and built the cover around gia's oc's faceclaim, which i got to choose: helena bertinelli aka huntress, portraying "the bat". with huntress as the foundation it was then much easier to find stuff for peter that suited. i'm glad i sorted that out first and foremost instead of spending ages staring listlessly at various spider-man art.

BLUE VELVET is a thriller, so i tried to lean into that vibe when making both of the covers. cover i. relies heavily on the huntress art, whereas cover ii. is more peter-centric with some beautiful gabriele dell'otto art. the main version of this cover is in my classic bayports red, albeit a bit more muted to fit with gia's other stories' covers, but there are alt. versions that emphasise the blue of peter's suit as well. i got real well-acquainted with excelsior script making a cover theme yesterday so i had to use it again for these covers. it's a very nice font. sofia coppola, i love you.

LUCKY STRIKE's cover takes after the iconic matt fraction and david aja hawkeye run. i've never made a clint comic cover before so, as a new character always is, this was really fun! finding art that matched the relatively simplicity of aja's was a bit of a challenge but i eventually figured it out. and it was interesting to say the least, working with purple, but in the end i liked it.
