the punisher... red, black and white... bff rey... AHH!! can you tell i had the time of my life making this cover? yes, it's right in the star / bayports comfort zone but it's honestly for the best in this case, i think. this update, and these covers are for rey's forthcoming frank castle fic, BURNING PILE!

the return to red (blood red, no less) was ceremonious for me, and to celebrate the occasion i made this janky ass gif:

i love rick and morty (unfortunately) and i literally said "and awaaaaay we go!" before i started these covers 🤣 rey initially requested civilian!diana prince as her oc's faceclaim, but i was unable to find anything that worked for the covers i had in mind. i ultimately ended using jessica jones, which is actually against my self-imposed guidelines lol (not a fan of putting marvel characters together if one is meant to be an oc, especially if the two interact in-canon.) but rules are made to be broken (occasionally 😅) and i'm really happy with these, so.

cover i. uses the punisher comic branding. since the title for this fic is BURNING PILE i wanted to incorporate fire somewhere; it's very subtle in this cover, but it's there if you look. i liked how both frank and jessica!oc are illuminated in this cover; frank by a harsh light, jess by a softer one. the main version of this cover features a deep, intense red with a cool grey. the alt. version's grey is a little warmer, and more blue.

it's close, but i think cover ii. is my favourite. i really like the contrast. for this one, i decided to use to the punisher tv series logo instead of one of the comic versions; the layout of the cover is in line with the tie-in variant covers produced during the show's run.
