Warriors short: A Day with Ravenpaw and Barley
Hi! I'm Ravenpaw, and this is Barely. You want to know what a day here is like? Well, Barley, do we have any spare mice? Oh, good, we do! Now, we'll each settle down with a mouse and I'll tell you about a day about a quarter moon ago, when a cat came to us.
Ravenpaw woke to sunlight shining through the barn door. He stretched in his nest made of hay. I have a good feeling about today, He thought as Barley yawned and got up. Ravenpaw padded over to the door, where Barley was.
"Where should we go today, Ravenpaw?" Barley asked. It was part of their daily routine to go on a walk as soon as soon as they woke.
Ravenpaw thought about their walking trails. Maybe they would go on the trail toward highstones? Nah, too many boulders. What about through the barnyard? Or the small forest patch? "Let's go on the forest path. It'll be beautiful, with all the maple tree's leaves changing color. Plus there are birch and oak trees, giving the trail multiple colors," Ravenpaw decided.
"Yes, excellent idea," Barley replied. So the two friends set off toward the forest path.

"You were right, Ravenpaw. This is absolutely astonishing," Barley said. The forest was beautiful, with the rising sun and all the pretty leaves. Ravenpaw thought it was the best walk they had had in moons. He often missed Graystripe and Fireheart. Firestar, he corrected himself. It was still unbelievable Firestar was leader of ThunderClan now. It seemed like yesterday they were all apprentices, when Firestar had brought him to Barley. But even though he missed them, he was glad to be with Barely, happy to be a loner. All he wanted now was to be a loner. As he was lost in his thoughts, Barley nudged him.
"We've got company," he whispered. He flicked his tail toward a bush. Ravenpaw saw it rustle, and a moment later, a small, ginger tom cat with a blue collar and a bell flopped out. Ravenpaw gasped. Something about this cat shocked Ravenpaw. He recognized this cat, though it was slightly smaller than the one he knew.
"He looks like... Firestar!" Ravenpaw exclaimed.
"Firestar...? Who's... Firestar?" The small cat said weakly. He was clearly exhausted.
"We need to get him to the barn," Barley said.
"C'mon, can you walk a little while longer?" Ravenpaw asked. "You can lean on us." Obediently, the cat got up, trembling until Ravenpaw and Barley were at his sides.

Once they were back at the barn, they made a nest for the kittypet. They hunted, the kittypet rested and ate. Once he was asleep, Ravenpaw turned to Barley. "I must get Firestar," he said.
Barley nodded. "I understand." So Ravenpaw quickly exited the barn. "Be back before the sun has set!" He called after Ravenpaw.
As soon as Ravenpaw set paw on WindClan territory, he paused, sniffing for WindClan. Only stale scent. Good. Though Ravenpaw knew Tallstar would be sympathetic, he was pretty sure Mudclaw would try to rip his pelt off. He didn't want to take chances.
Ravenpaw went as fast as he could. On his way, Ravenpaw thought about how Firestar would react. He would be shocked, that was for sure. His mind wandered to the kittypet. Was he truly...? Ravenpaw couldn't be for sure. He wondered what happened to his twolegs. The kittypet seemed very tired, and he was quite far from the twolegplace.
Once Ravenpaw reached fourtrees, he relaxed. Ravenpaw was always welcome on ThunderClan territory, where he was now. The scents of the forest filled his nose. He sure did love the forest.
It was not long before he found a hunting patrol, with Dustpelt, Cloudtail, and Graystripe. "Ravenpaw! What are you doing here?" Cloudtail asked.
"I must see Firestar," he panted. "It's urgent."
Dustpelt nodded. "We'll get you to him."

"Firestar, you need to come to the barn. Right now. There is something I need to show you," Ravenpaw said in Firestar's den. He had seen many old friends, and wished he could be here a while. But it was past sunhigh, and Ravenpaw needed to get back.
"What's so important, old friend?" Firestar asked, with a puzzled look.
"A kittypet stumbled across the barn. He was a fiery ginger kittypet and..." Ravenpaw rushed.
Firestar nodded in understanding."I see. Take me to him," he said.

By the time they returned to the barn, Ravenpaw was exhausted. It was almost nightfall,
and he hadn't traveled that far that fast for quite some time. Ravenpaw and Firestar entered the den quietly, glancing toward the kittypet, who was now fully awake.
Barley mewed, "Good, your back! This is Spark, a kittypet from the twolegplace."
Spark nodded. "Some cats came, and they wore collars with teeth stuck in them. They came, and attacked me. They said, 'leave or die,' so I ran as far away as I could. But I'm worried about my housefolk," he said. Firestar gasped, not just because the kittypet looked like him. Those cats he spoke of were BloodClan cats, Scourge's old cats. Ravenpaw cast an uneasy glance at Barley. Barley had once lived with the BloodClan cats until he fled to be a loner.
"You... look familiar," Firestar said, "You look just like... me, Spark."
"Yeah..." and the two sprang to each other and hugged in a feline way. "You are my BROTHER!!" Spark exclaimed, overjoyed. "Where are your twolegs?"
"I'm not a house cat, actually..."

There you have it! Don't worry, Spark got his twolegs back. Firestar brought a ThunderClan patrol to stop the BloodClan cats- and they succeeded! Now, to bed for you. It is time we go to sleep.
