Twenty-One

We walk through the halls. It's cold. The walls were thick and made of steel. We walk through a hall of men in masks. Each one had a weapon. Each one smelled like men. Each one smelled of fear towards me. I can hear their heart pounding. I can hear their stiff breath. I grip my fists.

I'm a Hellhound what does that even mean? I know they know something I do not. I do not plan to trust then; I plan to let them help me. I need to find out what is happening to me. Why I keep hearing voices. I keep feeling like I'm on fire.

"Kenshin is a Hellhound?" Kaoru asks in disbelief.

"Yes, apparently." I shrug.

"What even is a Hellhound?" Enishi asks.

"A black dog wrapped in flame and a Guardian of Hell." The man answers.

"How did it become this way? Why should we believe you?" Kaoru asks.

"You're about to find out how he became a Hellhound. The beast will tell us." He says.

"How?" I ask.

"In this." He leads us to a box.

It looks like a coffin. It had wires sticking out from it. It had a window.

"You want me to go in there?" I look at him.

"Yes." He nods.

"What will happen to him?" Kaoru asks.

"We'll bring his body temperature down, below freezing. Then in his dormant state, the Hellhound will be awakened, then we can talk to it." He says.

The door opens. The cold hits me.

"Are you crazy?" Kaoru looks at the man.

She turns to me.

"You don't have to do this." Kaoru says.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." I say.

I walk forward. I walk into the coffin-box. He closes the door. I look at them. It is cold in here. Not cold enough. He pulls down a lever. Cold air flows in the box. My breath turns to ice. I'm getting tired. My body starts to slow down. My vision starts to blur. I close my eyes. I just need rest.
