"It's such a beautiful day." Megumi smiles.

"The forest is so beautiful." Kaoru says.

"It just looks like a bunch of trees. What are we even doing here?" Enishi asks.

"We're looking for mushrooms." Megumi says.

"We can find those at the market." Enishi whines.

"It'll be cheaper out here."Megumi says.

I peel away the branches. I look around. My nose fills with woodland smells. Dirt, wood, and animals. No blood. No ash. Phew.

Megumi bumps into me. I look up.

"Sorry." Megumi says.

"No problem." I say.

"Kenshin, did you find anything?" Kaoru asks.

"A little." I show her the basket in my hands.

"Wow. You got some nice looking mushrooms." Kaoru says.

"Thank you." I say.

She nods happily and moves on inward. I follow her. There is a sense of familiarity. I feel like I've walked these woods before. Then I smell it. Blood and fire. Ash and smoke. Something powerful. Something ancient. The thing in my dream. Just like my dream, I follow the smell.

"Kenshin where are you going?" Kaoru asks.

I look at her surprised.

"You don't smell that?" I ask.

"Smell what? Enishi?" Megumi teases.

"Hey!" Enishi yells.

"What does it smell like?" Kaoru asks.

"Blood and fire. Something powerful. It's addictive." I say.
