We were lost.
We ran all the way towards a cliff with a lake at the bottom. I slowled down as we started to get to the peak and I turned into my human skin. I pressed my hands against my knees as I took deep breaths as I stared down at since behind all the trees miles away I can see lights. It's almost there, we're not stopping and we're not stopping for directions.
I looked at the six wolves who stayed behind with me and they nodded. I stood and ran towards the end of the peak and jumped off the cliff. The other followed behind me as they turned into humans and when the ice cold water hit me it woke me up by sending chill through my body. I swam up to the top of the lake and gasped for air. I looked around as the others came up, making sure they were all right before swimming towards land.
When I got there, I crawled on land on my hands and knees. We were all exhausted, beaten, hungry, and tired. I laid down on the ground, taking this sweet bliss of silence for awhile and the others didn't agrue with me because they understood.
"Thank you." Jaycob—the man who killed Ramses father—littlest brother said. "I. . .thank you very much. I never knew what Jaycob did. I was only six years old when he became Alpha. Jaycob would," he said, looking away, "he would give me to them, I know he would. He blames me for our mother death and always thought I was trouble. He would say he was doing it for the pack, that we all have to make sacifices." He looked up at me, "You don't even know me and you didn't give me to them."
"Because I know it's wrong. I wasn't gonna let you just go back." I said. I opened my mouth to speak but I smelt something in the air. I sat up quickly and sniffed the air when I smelt the foul smell again like someone needed a bath real badly. Soon they started to smell it and we looked at the top of the cliff peak. Aydin and a few other wolves growled at us from the top.
"U-uh, lets go!" I said as I forced my jiggly legs up and they all followed as we ran towards the lights that looked like a town.
Killian
Clyde and Sofia had their ways of getting information. Ways I didn't agree but it sure did work. They had to beat some stuff out of other rogues and we finally learned where we were suppose to go. We made it to Tennessee and we made sure out sense were very alert to catch any scent. It took us more than a day but finally we found their scent lingering around.
"So you three know it's dangerous to piss off a rogue—it more dangerous to piss off a wild rogue." Clyde said as he looked around. "We stick together, no one leaves so we'll protect each other. If they see one of us alone they'll attack."
I watched Clyde allot and realized how much Mat was like him actually. He was actually a good leader and very smart man. Sofia has a temper but Clyde was Alpha smart. He knew how to lead us into where we should go. No wonder he was gonna become Alpha of Washington.
Nate hit my arm, "Hey, you okay? You look kind of sick, dude."
I nodded, "Yeah. We're very close and I'm getting anixous. We don't know what to expect."
Sofia came over, "I expected to hold my daughter in my arms." she said, looking at me fully. We heard a cracking sound and we all turned our heads to the right. We heard a crying noise and soon a girl appeared. She had red hair with freckles all over her face and she hadn't noticed us. Sofia growled and ran over towards her. We tired to stop her but we finally smelt her to. We ran behind her to stop Sofia but she was quick to run over towards the girl who saw her and fell back screaming. Sofia lifted her up and started sniffing her, "You're wild."
The girl kept screaming and Sofia put her hand over her mouth.
"Where's your group?" she asked. The girl bit down in her hand and Sofia cried in pain as she pushed the little girl down on the ground. I shook my head and leaned down, helping the little girl to sit up and she came close to me, baring her teeth at the woman. Sofia growled back and her eyes turned amber and sapphire. The girl whimpered and covered her face in my chest.
"Stop it." I told Sofia. "She isn't old enough to be a grown wolf. All your doing is scaring her."
Clyde reached down, "Don't fall for it, Killian." he said, pulling the girl out of my arm and she started crying. "She's wild, she knows how to trick people. She seems innocent but she's not."
The little girl cried, struggling to get away, "No, please! Just let me go!"
"Are you apart of Ramses group?" Clyde asked the little girl.
The girl whimpered, "Y-yes. He's my uncle."
"Oh?" Sofia said, leaning down towards her with a hard look. "Does he have people with them?"
"N-no." she said, making my heart stop beating and my blood turn cold. I turned away and Devin grabbed my arm but I pushed him away. "They escaped and Ramses got mad. It just happened tonight. I saw him and a girl fighting so I ran away. Ramses said he'll never hurt our own kind."
"A girl?" Clyde questioned.
I went over and grabbed her away, "Short curly hair? Around your height? Come on, answer me!" I growled, my eyes turning yellow.
"Y-yes! She had white teeth and kept saying her name was Mat." she said, pulling away from me and fell on her back. She propped herself up on her elbows, "She was very nice."
"Was?" I growled, leaning towards her but Nate grabbed me because now I know Mat's alive but she's somewhere out here. This girl said last time she saw her, she was fighting with Ramses!
"Ki-Killian," Nat said as he pushed me away from her. "Calm down."
"Do you know how many escaped?" Clyde asked her.
"A-all of them." she said, my thoughts turning to Will also. "Ramses got very mad and the grown wolves went after them. I ran to curious and found him fighting with the Mat girl. Ramses didn't want me to see anything and told me to ran away. I ran but in another direction. I-I didn't want to go back since Ramses lied to me. He told me they were only getting punished and he'll let them go later."
"You're uncle a liar." Sofia said. She picked the girl up and pushed her away, "Go back to your group—now!" she yelled when the little girl didn't move.
"I don't wanna." she said stubbornly. "It's cold, we don't always have allot of food, and Ramses is always paraniod about everything. I wanna go with you guys if you know Mat. She knows me, she'll show me how to live like a pack girl."
Sofia snorted and Clyde shook his head, "No, go back before you get in allot of trouble, cub. That's your family—"
"Ramses lied to me!" she said. "I am his niece but I'm known as the Omega of the group. They only tolerate me because I'm his niece. I don't wanna go back, the others always mean to me."
"We don't take strays." Sofia growled, pushing her away. "You're just a burden if we take you. Ramses won't like it and we won't be accused of kidnapping."
Clyde sighed and turned to his wife, "Sofia. . .she's looks around only fifteen. There's still a chance to save her. She can learn to adapt to civilization in three years."
Sofia scoffed, "No Clyde, we can't—"
"Ramses won't do anything since she left on her own. He'll leave if he ever comes. He won't take back someone who left their group." he said. "Sofia, we have to. She really wants to leave, look at her eyes."
"Clyde, she's wild! She knows how to trick people, their all skilled." she agrued.
"I believe her." he said. "Babe, come on. Do you really wanna leave her out here?"
She groaned, "Do you remember what she is?" she said. "It's going to be very hard for her to change. Wild life and civilization is very, very different. Girl probably doesn't know how to even read or write."
"We'll—I'll help her." he said, fixing himself when she gave him a hard look wanting no part of helping this wild girl out.
She brought her hands up to hair hair and groaned before hitting him in his chest, "You're such a big softy." she said, putting her hands on her waist and thought about it. Personally, I didn't care as long as we get Mat and get out of here. She's their problem. "Fine! Fine, we'll take her."
The girl quickly got on her knees in front of Sofia and Clyde, "Thank you! Thank you!"
Clyde reached down and lift her up, "Don't do that. We're not in a pack but we're not wild. This is what socialize people do." he said, holding her hand out and put his in her, shaking it. "It means two thing; hello and settling something. What's your name." he said, letting go of her hand since she just kept shaking it.
"Aeriela." she said.
"Aeriela what?" Sofia asked.
She shrugged, "Only Aeriela."
Mat
We sneaked into someone backyard. I brought my finger up to my mouth, "Shh." I said before I opened the window to their mudroom where a washer and dryer was. I climbed inside and started to look threw the hamper. I pulled out shirts and underwear. I threw them out the window to them and they started to get dressed. I pulled out some flannel pajama pants and slipped them on. I tied them strings so they'll stay up and grabbed an ugly sweater with a unicorn on it but I had no choice right now.
I climbed out the window and looked at them, "So they stopped following us."
"Town to big." a man said. "To many people around and they'll get noticed. They stick around smaller towns because it's quiet."
"We have to find Dixon home." Will said. "I'm sure Melinda and the others already made it since the wild were follow us."
"Right." I said, nodding. "Who's hungry?"
Two wolves didn't agree but we snuck into the store into the meat backroom and breaking the camera. We grabbed meat and stuffed our stomachs with food. Wolf diet can handle raw meat and I usually decided against uncooked meat since joining the pack but right now I didn't care. I bit down into a big piece of stake and fed my stomach that was very hungry before grabbing some more. The others were quick to eat to since we hadn't eaten in days.
I went over to the sink and turned on the water. With hand fulls I drank allot of water and I started to feel much stronger. With red meat and water in my body I felt strong again.
Will walked over towards me, "You did it, Mat." he said. "You got us all out of there."
"No." I said, shaking my head. "You guys helped. Don't put it all on me."
"But you leaded." a man said, the same man who seemed to hate me back in the room and I did tell it was my wild Alpha who'll save him. "You leaded like how an Alpha should when danger comes. My name Brayden." he said before lowering down on my knee. The four other told me their names and lowered down on their knees.
Will stepped back and went down on one knee, forming into a half circle around me.
"You're showing me loyalty?" I asked them.
"Allegiance." Gavin—Jaycob brother—said. "Allegiance is more than about loyalty but trust, devotion, fidelity, and obedience. We're with you to make this out and even when it's all over."
I moved over and knelled down in front of them, "Guys thank you but you don't have to. You have packs at home that your allegiance belongs to. I may have leaded us away from Ramses but that doesn't make me an Alpha fully. I'm only eighteen and I barley know what I'm doing."
"It's in your instinct that you do. You think you don't but when you least expect it you suddenly know that way you know shift into wolf skin. I watched you fight with Ramses." Elijah said. "He would have killed me quickly but you were strong enough to fight with him."
"I have no pack that belongs to me or family." I told them.
"Texas belongs to you." Ian said. "I'm from there and I would love to see Talaus thrown off that title."
I sighed heavily, not wanting this role as their 'alpha' since I just badly want to go home, get a hot bath, finish school, and move on with my life. If I'm gonna live this life with Killian I shouldn't be worrying about taking care of other men. Even Texas is going to Nate—if he's still even alive. "There are no female Alpha's though."
"Every once and awhile a female will take the role as Alpha." Adan said. "They're the bravest to. You're one of those strong female Alpha and I'll won't ever be ashamed to follow you."
I lowered my head and thought for a moment. I knew this guys were serious and nothing was gonna change their mind. Texas is to big though, I can control a big state and what if everyone won't agree with them? My thoughts turned to Lincoln and my hand balled into a tight fist. I lifted my head, "Alright but one thing," I said. "I don't want Texas, I want Oregon." I said, making Devin grin. They all looked confused and we both told everything about Lincoln. About my parents and Alana.
Brayden nodded, "Oregon is yours, Alpha Mat."
