Killian

I watched as Marco body was lowered six feet into the ground. I looked up at Blue who was watching the closed casket as her mother held her. Her mom had hold her back from trying to go into the ground herself and opening the casket. Marco was her soulmate and it was slowling killing her on the inside. She kept saying it should have been her since Marco did push her out the way when the wolf lunged at her and attacked him instead.

I looked over at Lincoln who was holding Alana close to him. He had a hard look on his face but I saw pain in his eyes. A heavy lump formed in my throat as I turned away and walked away. I walked out of the cemetry and down the street. Nate was leaning against the gate and he stood up when he saw me.

“I don't have time.” I said, not stopping to deal with him.

“Killian, I have to tell you something.” he said as he walked beside me.

“Not now.” I said. “I have to go to Devin house. He's waiting for me to come back.”

“You know Mat and I are cousins, right?” he asked and I nodded. “Then I want more than anything to help find her.”

I turned and grabbed him, “You saw them take her and you didn't stop them.” I coldly said.

“I was stabbed!” he said. “I could hardly run, let alone fight against two strong wild wolves.” He pushed me away and breathed heavily out his nose, “We know her and Will are alive with the others they took. The wild ones they we got said they were holding them as hostage. They just didn't tell us where.” He placed his hand on my shoulder, “Killian, there's things you don't. Come with me.” he said as he pulled me away and into an alley. There he told me everything that Mat has been stressing over and I had realized why she stopped eating and hurting herself.

Mat

I could at least check off a few things off my stress list. Like finding Melinda—even though where we found her isn't where we want—Killian mother getting more use to me, Alana is gonna get better, and I got meeting Alpha Alaric over with.

But I'm still in allot of mess.

“So who's the young girl?” I asked.

Melinda looked confused, “Which girl?”

“Red hair, freckles, teenage.” I said

“Aeriela?” she questioned. “She's Ramses niece, his sister daughter. His sister died when Aeirela was born and wild fathers don't tend to stick around long. Did she come in here?”

I nodded, “She looked very curious.”

“I'm sure. Ramses doesn't want her to come in here, saying it'll scare her. She's a curious girl. She only knows wild things her whole life. Ramses forbidden her to come near me, say I'll influence her and make her want to leave him. Poor girl, she doesn't know how to read or write. She never been to school and lives like a beast.” she said. “She's sweet and innocent but can throw scary trantrums. Ramses spoils her.”

Everyone in the room was fully awake now and we all tired getting out somehow but the cages were strong as hell. Human or wolf form wouldn't work on them and it was very frusterating. It's been a day and no one has come in here. Allot of us were thirtsy and hungry. I never wanna be in a cage again. It's suffocating. I can't move or stretch my legs. It was dirty and cold. No bathrooms and you know how that leads.

“What are they gonna do to us?” a women asked who says she was the sister of the Alpha of Colorado.

“I don't know.” Melinda said.

"How do you not know?” a man stubbornly said. “You've been here, right? Ran away. I'm sure your daddy real proud of you.”

“Hey, back off.” Will said coldly. The two of them began to argue and soon lots of them were agruing. I rolled my eyes and pressed my back against the cage wall. I began to think of Killian and prayed to God he wasn't on that list on the TV Melinda was watching. She said the reporter was already half way finished reading the list and didn't see him.

Hours passed and the door to the room opened. The girl—Aeriela—came in. She had a bucket in her hand with some plastic cups in her hand. Everyone got quiet and she looked suddently shy. She swallowed hard as she walked towards us.

She stopped at the middle and brought her index finger up to her mouth, “Shh.” she said. She dripped a cup into the bucket and I heard water splashing. She open the top of the cage and handed the woman the cup. The woman thanked her but Aeriela brought her finger up to hush her. Aeriela started from the other side of the room giving them water and started at the bottom on the side I was.

The guy two down from me took the cup from her but grabbed her arm also. Aeriela gasped, pulling her arm away and threw the cup at him. She hit the man in the face and I jerk at the sound at how strong she semed. She slammed the top of the opening locked it.

She continued on her way and I was last. She handed it to me and I thanked her.

She brought her finger up to her mouth but I smiled, “Aeriela, that's a pretty name.” She looked surprised that I knew her name but she turned and glared at Melinda. Melinda lowered her head as she looked away. Aeriela turned to start collecting the empty cups. “I'm sure you were named that because of your red hair and the Little Mermaid Ariel.” I brought the cup up to my mouth and it tasted so good. I was so thirty that it was the most wonderful thing on Earth.

“Actually it means Lion Of God.” she spoke. “My hair was lighter when I was baby and reminded them of lion hair. I have my mamas hair color.” After she collected them, she stayed in front of my cage, “How'd you get your teeth so white?”

I chuckled softly, “It's called toothpaste. It helps cleans your teeth. It's easy to get and it's very minty tasting.

“Maybe Ramses can get me that.” she said. “I want white teeth.”

“You love your uncle, huh?” I asked.

She quickly nodded, “Yes. He took care of me when mama died.” she frowned. She may look fifteen but she was very innocent like a child. “Ramses says I look like my mom."

“Aeriela.” I said, moving closer towards her. She tilt her head and I brought my hand up to the cage, “How about you let me out and I can get you that toothpaste for you.”

“Oh no!” she said as she shook her head quickly. “I can't do that. Ramses would be very mad at me.”

“He won't have to know. We can go and we'll come right back before he knows.” I said.

She glared down at me, “You think I'm stupid or something? You think because your a pack girl you're better than me?” she coldly asked and I shook my head. She hit the cage and I brought my hands up to cover my ears. “You're not! I'm more wiser and smarter then you. I may not go to yours 'school' but I'm wild smart. I know when and when not to trick. You can't fool me, pack girl.”

“I'm not a pack girl.” I said. She snorted and rolled her eyes. “I wasn't raised with them, just like you. I was rasied by humans but I'm still no pack girl. I was told I have to join so I did.” I brought my right arm up and show her the brand scar where I had a cut mark, “See that cut? I did that over where they branded me. Aeriela, please.”

“I can't.” she said, sighing heavily. “I'm sorry. Don't ask me again.”

“You know this is wrong, right?” I asked.

“No, Ramses said you all deserve this. I only brought you all water because I felt bad but I don't anymore.” she said. “Ramses says you all turn your backs on who you truly are. You rather live with humans than roam free with no strict rules. Your all wrong. That's why we're a dying race because of you wolves.”

“Things are different then what it use to be in the old days.” I said. “Humans were hunting us. Did he tell you that? We went into hiding for a long time so humans will stop hurting us and the only way to survive is to blend with them. We didn't stop being who we are, we just made some changes. Changes that were for the good.”

Aeriela opened her mouth but the door opened. She jumped and we looked at the door to see Ramses. Aeriela lowered her head and Ramses gave her a hard look, “Aeriela, come here.” Aeriela did as her brother side, holding the bucket with cups inside close to her. “Why are you in here?”

“I—I thought maybe they were thirsty. Just because they're bad people doesn't mean they should go thirtsty." she said, lowering her head. "I'm sorry.

“I have told you to never come in here. This is why—you get attached easily.” he said. He ran his hand down his face, sighing heavily, “Look don't ever back in here. Go back upstairs and join the others around the camp fire.”

“Ramses, can you get me toothpaste.” she asked.

“What?” he questioned.

Aeriela pointed at me, “So my teeth can be white like hers.”

Ramese gave me a hard look and my hands gripped the cage. He looked back at his niece, “That's pack things. We don't need stuff like that. You're teeth are fine. Now go.” he said, turning his niece and pushed her out the door. He closed the door and locked it.

“She just wants her teeth to look nice.” I coldly said. “I'm sure she would love it.”

He walked over towards me, “You never talk to my niece again.”

“What are you gonna do to us?” a woman asked.

“I have ideas.” he said, grinning. “You think the people who you put all your trust in. They're not who you all think they are.” Everyone began shouting. Cursing him, begging him to let them go, and other stuff. I stayed quiet because I knew yelling was pointless right now and wasn't gonna get me anywhere."

Ramses began hitting the cages and we all covered our ears at the loud banging sounds since our ears were sensitive, “Hush my pets!” he chuckled. He walked in front of mine again and bent down, “You're a quiet one.”

I leaned furrowed, “Hardly. If you knew me, I have a big mouth. I just know shouting and yelling at you won't help me. I'm thinking.”

“Of?” he asked, chuckling.

“How much Aeriela would love toothpaste.” I sarcastically said. “And a shower. And her nails done. And to go to school to do better things than live wildish.”

He nodded, “You think you know what's better for my own sister? Huh?”

I held my hands up, “Just expressing what I think.”

He slammed down on the cage, “Well no thinking. Not with me.” he coldly said as he stood up. “You're my pet. You all are.” He pointed down at me, “You—I'm most curious. Not because you choose to keep quiet but because of your own wildness.”

“I'm not wild, buddy.” I said, rolling my eyes.

He chuckled and brought his hands down towards the cage, “I seen your eyes, girl. I seen them become amber and sapphire. That only means one thing.” He began shaking the cage violently and I hit each wall of the cage.

“Stop it!” I yelled. “Stop it please!” He stopped and I laid down on the floor. My eyes turned and I so badly wanted to shift but I wouldn't because that's what he wanted. He wanted me to do in front of them all. He began shaking the cage again.

“Come on, little girl! It won't take much to piss you off.” he said, chuckling. He was taunting me, I knew it and it was sadly working. “Come on! I know you can do it. I heard you from upstairs. You're no pack girl. I remember that boy you were with that day in the wood. “ He stopped and slamemd the cage, “Killain, right? Oh yeah it was nice watching him slowly die. One of my guys ripped out his throat. He had no one to help him then.”

“No.” I said, breathing heavily as I brought my hands up to my ear. “Liar.”

“No. My wolves went back in and finished them off. Harley jumped on his back and bit right into his flesh. He cried in pain but he got quiet when Harley ripped out his flesh. He bled quickly but he tried hanging on there. It only made it worse and he died.” he said, chuckling.

I screamed, “Shut up!” My eyes burned and I knew he offically got to me. My teeth bared as I looked at him and jumped to the front of the cage. I gripped tightly onto the cage, “I'm gonna kill you myself. I'll rip your chest open and pull your heart out with my own hands.”

He stood up with a grin, “You see? Just as wild just like me. She just never knew it.” I growled deeply as I shook the cage door trying to open. I cried in frusteration and hit the door. “You don't know how much stronger you are.”

“Let me out!” I screamed at him.

He grinned, “Come on, dont let make push you again."

I moved back and I brough my feet up. I kicked at the cage with all my might and on the third one the door broke off. I heard everyone gasp but I ignored them as I crawled out of it. I stalked towards him and he chuckled.

I got close to him and raised my chin, “I'm gonna kill you like how they killed your father.” I said. His grinned dropped and his own eyes turned amber and sapphire. He grabbed me by my throat and I cried out, my hands flying up to his. He squeezed my throat tightly and my nails sharpen. I lashed at his face and he yelped as he let go. I ran around him towards the door but he grabbed me by my hair.

He pulled me back, “You should know I get offended by things easily.” he said, bring his fist up and punched me. Everything went dark quickly.

Killian

“Devin gonna go crazy when he learns all of this.” I said, running my fingers threw my hair as we walked up the porch of Devin house “What was she thinking? She's crazier then I thought.”

“Family is very imporant to Mat.” he said. “Killian, you need to realize this. She may be one rash chick but her loyalty will never be to the pack but to her family and the people she loves. Our family was betrayed.”

I snorted and opened the door, “You Redbloods, you're all rock heads. You guys never think, you always act first."

“Because there's no time for thinking.” a women said and we looked in the house to see familiar faces. Devin came over and pulled us in. He looked out the door before shutting it. I looked at Mat parents sitting at the couch and I hadn't expected to see them. Mat mom got up and walked over to me, “Why do you think our family was in charge of Texas? Because we're the strongest and bravest.”

“And reckless.” Devin said, rolling his eyes. “You know how much trouble we can all get in if Alpha Lincoln finds you two here? I took a big chance.”

“Why are you here?” Nate asked.

“Who are you?” Sofia asked, arching her eyebrow.

“I'm Belinda son.” he said.

Her eyes widen as she stared at him for a moment, “I can see it. So she did marry that Summers boy. She was so head over heels for him. Oh Belinda.” she said, bring her hand up to her mouth as pain struck her eyes. “She was my best friend growing up. We always had each other backs.”

Nate cleared his throat, “You know our family wild?” he asked, making her eyes widen. Clyde got up from the couch and walked over, taking Sofia arm and pulled her back. “So you do know.”

“Excuse me?” Devin asked. “My family isn't wild.”

“Our family.” Nate said. “My mother and yours are cousins. Devin, Mat knew this and allot of stuff is happening in her life right now.”

Devin grabbed Nate by his neck and pressed him against the door, “You've been getting my sister into trouble, Summers? She's suppose to be staying out of it!”

I grabbed Devin and pulled him away, “Dev—Devin stop it. Look, we both know Mat. She's crazy, she's doing whatever she's doing for family. Why are they here?” I asked him. “Alpha Lincoln will lose his mind if he finds them here.”

“Matilda is our daughter.” Clyde said. “We rushed here as soon as could get away. We were moved from Los Angeles and moved to New Mexico. When we heard what happened, we were just gonna wait around hearing news. Packs don't do shit, fearing danger of wild Rogues.”

“The packs will handle it.” I said. “Lots of their families died. Alpha Lincoln son Marco died, he'll surely want revenge.”

Sofia bared her teeth as her eyes flashed yellow, “Lincoln will have more problems to handle with me before the wild.”

“You can't trust the pack, Killian.” Clyde said, making me confused. “Believe me, I know. I had spent twenty years trusting the pack and putting my life into it but I was the one who was betrayed. Trust yourself, not the pack.”

I scoffed, “You two broke the rules. You were punished with a slap on the wrist.”

“You don't know anything.” Sofia said, her eyes still burning yellow. “Alaric stole Clyde rights to be the Alpha. Their grandfather told the Beta to let Clyde since he wanted someone young who can take care of the pack for a long time but Alaric blackmailed the Beta. Alaric challenged Clyde in secret and while they fought I got in their way. I—I blacked out and Jesslyn must have attacked me. I killed her. Since it wasn't our fight Alaric took it as a threat and demanded we get kicked out.”

“So you are wild.” I said, making her breath heavily out her nose as she looked away. “Well guess what, so is your daughter. That wild side is breaking lose because of everything going on in her life.”

She snorted, “All Redbloods are wild.” She pointed at Devin and Nate, “If they think hard enough, they could unleash theirs aswell. Four hundred years ago an ancestor was wild from Scotland but he decided to change his way. He changed his name and identity when he moved here. Through the decades our family slowly became in charge of Texas—the second biggest state in America.”

I looked at Clyde, “And your okay with that?”

“She's my wife, I'll always be there for her.” he said. “Big question for you—will you be? You are Matilda soulmate. Do you accept it?” My mouth opened to answer but I didn't know how to since I tried my best all last week avoid the way her eyes changed. He walked over towards me, “I'm older than you and wiser. Trust me Killian, you always choose your woman because no matter what she's right next to you no matter what. She'll always have your back when no one else will. I had a choice to divorce Sofia because it was only her that was suppose to be kicked out but I choosed to leave with her. Why? Because I love her. I never hesitated because like her, I'll always have her back.”

“But family, the pack—”

“Can quickly betray you. I thought Lincoln was my best friend but I knew he was in love with Sofia. He pushed me so hard to try and divorce her.” he said. “It is a scary and hard thing to do but there comes to a time when you have to sacifice everything. Don't you love Matilda?”

I swallowed the hard lump in my throat, “Of course.”

“Then always have her back.” he said. I stared up at him for a moment before nodding and lowered my head. He turned around, “And since the pack has rules of no murdering humans and our kind—it's our job to do it. We're not pack wolves anymore.”

“That can still get you in allot of trouble.” Nate said. “Maybe not with the pack but Ramses won't be easy with you guys."

Sofia grinned, “You know, being down in New Mexico you hear allot of things.” she said. She looked at Nate, “And met old family members. What's this I hear about your all trying to take down Talaus?”

“What?” Devin asked coldly. “Oh you better not have gotten my sister into that mess.”

Nate ignored him, “I'll come.” he said. “Mat promised to help me and I'm gonna help her.”

Clyde looked at me, “Are you gonna risk it and come with us to find Mat? I hear your cousin also with them.” he said. “Five. . .four. . .three—“

“I'm coming.” I said.

Devin shook his head, “You're gonna get yourself kill. Mat is my sister. . .but I have my own family too to protect..”

“We know this.” Clyde said. “That's why we're not asking you to, Devin. Big lesson in life—protect your own. We don't want you to get in trouble.” They both looked at each other and Devin looked helpless from wanting to save his sister but also wanting to protect his own family.

“So when do we leave?” Nate asked.

“Tonight. Be in Washoe County in Nevada by one in the morning and go down south until you smell our scents. We have to leave before the funerals are done.” Cylde said.
