"Such bullshit!" I said as I walked down the street with Killian behind me calmly with his hands in his pockets.
"You're cute angry.'' he said and I groaned.
"Why are you following? Leave me alone, Killian!" I said, running my hands these my hair as looked both way to cross the street. I had left school and I'm sure Mrs. Summer will be pissed but it's not like it was my first time skipping school. I couldn't stay there though after—I'm forever going to call it a rape kiss. He kissed me when I didn't want it—and trying to tell me I'm a wolf! A wolf!!
"Oh come on Mat, its true.'' he chuckled. ''Wolves were the first before humans, but sadly we're a dying race. It's great to find a new member, though I'm still confused on why you're living in an orphanage.''
''Shut up Killian, gosh!" I said, running across the street and when I got to be other side, an arm was thrown around my waist. I pushed him away, ''Don't touch me.'' I said, running away, hoping he'll get the picture but he laughed, running to catch me.
He ran in front of me and put his hands on my waist, not letting me go, ''Not a good idea to run from wolves Mat, they will always chase you. God, you're beautiful.'' he said, cupping my face in his hands and kissed me.
I pushed at his chest, getting angry he wouldn't let me go so before I could stop and tell myself to stop, I bit his bottom lip. He made a yelp sounds and let go of me, chuckling as he brought his hand up to his mouth.
"You're crazy Killian, go back to the mental hospital in Boston.'' I said. "I'm not a wolf, I always knew Marco group was a bunch of nuts. Your cousin Will the most.''
He put his hands on my waist again, but pushed me back against a building. He grinned as his brought his face near mine, ''I'm now not regretting coming here anymore. I can't believe I found you. It hardly happens, we're special Mat.''
''Let me go, Killian .'' I all but growled go at him.
''My turn eighteen this week, my first change. All wolves change the second the moon is up in the north. You need to be there, Mat, with me. I want you to see.'' he said, pressing his forehead against mine and I winced as I froze, feeling weird as he brought his nose to my hair, kissing the side of it, and inhaled deeply. ''You use vanilla shampoo, don't you? It smells so good.''
''Ugh!" I groaned, totally freaked out. ''Killian, let go of me and you can keep your lips. You don't, I'll hurt you.''
He chuckled as he moved his head and looked at me with those baby blue eyes with gold outlines, "You're cute while making threats. I don't have some pathetic girl, but a strong one.''
''I'm not your 'girl'.'' I coldly said.
''You're my girl, my only girl.'' he said. ''I can see the world in your eyes, Mat. You were different as a child, right? You act like a wolf with that temper of yours.''
''If wolves were real, why don't we know about them huh?'' I asked.
''There was a time when people did, but over 700 hundred years ago humans were getting smarter than us. They learned how to kill us, lowering our numbers. We went into hiding for a while and came back when we felt safe.'' he said, bring his hand up to my face and brushed my cheek with the back of his hand. ''Now we blend in like humans.'' he snorted. ''But we stick to our packs where we can feel like ourselves.''
''Nice little story Killian, but I still don't believe you.'' I said.
''Then why do you feel a connection towards me? Don't say you don't, because you know you do.'' he said.
''My mother abandon me, left me in a park alone at three months old!" I said and he frowned. ''Why would she do that? Why would she leave me here alone if I'm supposed to be a wolf? I'm to turn eighteen in less than a month. A month Killian!"
''I don't know but Mat, you not alone anymore. Not a lone wolf anymore.'' he said.
"Stop calling me a wolf!" I angrily said and before I could hold back my anger since I was now seeing red, I balled my fist and threw my fist out.
Another hand appeared and we both stared at tan male hand that was hairy on top. ''Temper, temper, she's like a lion then a wolf.'' Will said as we turned to look at him.
''Oh, what? People can change into a lion now to?" I sarcastically asked, snorting.
"Stories about a few tribes in Africa I hears could, but like I said stories. Anything possible . . . apparently.'' he said, eyeing me. Will put his hand on Killian chest, pushing him away and Killian growled in his throat, but didn't say anything. ''You heard the others Killian, they were in the same grade with her since kindergarten, they would have noticed.''
"I feel it in my bones, Will.'' Killian said.
Will was quite for a second as he eyed me, looking at me as if he was trying to find something, ''There. . . I can smell a hint of something. If she is, her scent masked with how long she spent with humans.''
Killian put his hand on Will arm, turning him to look at Killian, ''She's my mate, Will. I can feel the bond, it's strong. You even notice yesterday.''
"I just thought you were trying to be rebellious." he said. ''She's clearly someone daughter, but who? I know everyone in the state of Oregon, but no wolf gives up their child. Hey!" he said when I tried to slowly slip pass them, but the back of my jacket collar was grabbed, making me groan in annoyance. ''You're not going anywhere . . . well fine Killian, take her. No need to give me that look.'' he said before throwing me at Killian and I lost my balance, but he caught me. ''You'll need to let me tell me the others. Killian, stay out of it.''
''Excuse me?'' Killian asked, snorting. ''She's my mat—''
''You came here to be with Melinda, remember her?" Will asked and my nose scrunched up.
"I came here to get to know Melinda, but everything different.'' he fought back, "She's my mate, mine Will. I should tell everyone.''
"Stop saying that! Ugh, the world is getting more and more—hey! Hey! Ah, don—'' Killian cut me off when he wrapped one arm around my arm and used his other hand to cover my mouth.
"You're the son of the Massachusetts Beta, you have no purpose here but to be with Melinda. They'll send you back the second they find out.'' he said. ''Wanna take the credit by finding her? Sure, I don't care. But don't tell anyone who she is to you until we talk to the Alpha about changing things. I'm you're older cousin, do as I say.''
Killian glared at his cousin as his arm tighten around me and I rolled my eyes. I was getting bored with this. I opened my mouth the best I could with his cover my mouth, "Fine, Will, we'll wai—ew! Matilda!" he yelled since I had slobbered all over his hand and he let go if me.
"I'm getting bored with this side show bullshit." I said.
"Yesh, she seems annoying.'' Will said. "I had to be held back to be stuck with this chick.''
I took a step towards Will, ready to throw the punch I've been wanting to throw since beginning of school. Killian grabbed my arm and pulled me away from his cousin. "Don't think I'm scared of you, Will.'' I said.
Will rolled his eyes, ''I'm getting bored now, see you at home.'' Will said as he turned and walked away. ''Make sure no one see you together, Marco will be pissed to find that out.''
''Screw Marco!" I yelled. ''All of you are nothing but a bunch of bully shit hea—hey! I'll bite you this time!" I said, pushing Killian away when he tried to cover my mouth again.
"I know how crazy this sounds Mat, but it's true. Believe me.'' he said.
''I don't even know you!" I said.
Killian
Mat was stiff on the couch as I walked into the living room. She didn't look at me, she was angrily glaring at the TV since I had dragged her to my uncle place kicking and screaming.
I tapped the DVD case against my hand, ''Still mad at me?"
"This is kidnapping.'' she said.
"It's not like you have anywhere else to be.'' I said as I walked over to the TV and turned the DVD on. ''The pack likes to video tape our gatherings, it's like throwing a big old party.''
''I could care less.'' she said as she crossed her over her chest and she looked away. I rolled my eyes, but grinned at how stubborn she is. It was cute.
I put the DVD in and in two second, everyone from school appeared in screen hanging out in a barn. ''The kids are always somewhere, teenagers are in another, and the adult wolves are running or hanging out.'' I said as I walked over to sit next to her. My thigh brushed against her and she turned her face to look at me. I smiled at her and her little nose scrunched, huffing out her nose heavily.
''You're touch me, move.'' she ordered since she was sitting right next to the arm and the couch was big.
"Why are you hard as a rock, Mat?" I asked.
"I'm an orphan, you figure it out. No wanted me as a baby.'' she said, her voice hard as she glared me. ''Gotta be strong or people will walk all over me.''
''You're a wolf, you have anger troubles. I've pretty relax though because worrying so much is to stressful.'' I told her. ''And Mat, I want you.''
''Why don't you go run and play in traffic?" I asked.
''Because you would like that—I rather do the opposite.'' I said. "Look, Will about to turn.'' I said I put my hand behind her neck, forcing her to look at the screen.
Will smiled at the camera and slapped his friend Travis's hand, ''Whoever makes it back first wins the beautiful bottle of Russian vodka.''
Both threw off their shirts and as they pulled they're pants down, they bent they're knees and shifted into wolves. Will, the brown one and Travis, the tan and white mix fur color. Marco counted to three as they both lined up at the entrance of the barn. When Marco got to three, both wolves ran out.
"Proves nothing but your family likes making movies and have well trained dogs.'' she snorted.
I grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. I turned to her, ''You're that stubborn?''
''No, I'm that smart.'' she said. She got up and grabbed her jacket, ''And I'm leaving. I came, saw what you wanted me to see, and now I'm leaving--don't make me slap you.'' she said since I grabbed her waist and wrapped my arms around her waist, placing my head against her soft stomach.
"This is how wolves bond-come on, you know you want to bond.'', I said to her and she groaned.
''Why are you so weird?" she asked. "You barely know me! Get off!" she said when she pried me off her and I stood up. ''I'm leaving. Remember Killian, can't have anyone see us.'' she said against me and I shook my head, so not seeing this going how I wanted when I found someone I wanted to be with. She walked away quickly and out my uncle house. I forced myself over towards the window and pulled the curtain aside, watching her go down the street, only looking back once.
