Chapter 14: Playing
A/N: here's chapter 14. Enjoy people. Pretty long chapter today.
Lila's POV:
It was a music room. There were beautiful guitars and amazing pianos. It's been years since I played... but one little go wouldn't hurt, right?
In a daze, I wandered over to the piano and ran my fingers over the black keys. Without even realising it, I'd sat down, plugged it in and was playing. I'd never played in front of a live audience so I don't really know if I was good or not.

Song: Once I was 7 years old by Lukas Graham:
Once I was seven years old my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
"Hi! What's your name?" A boy knelt in front of me while a girl stood by him.
"Lila," I whispered shyly, unsure how to react. I'd never really had friends before- my only one being Bella.
"Hey, Lila that's a pretty name," the girl smiled at me, "what are you doing here in the dark? Where are your parents?"
I frowned, "I don't have any family and I don't know where I am."
The two people's features softened. The boy took my small hand, "how about this: we'll be your family. Would you like that?"
I grinned and nodded my head enthusiastically.
It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure
"Come on, Lila!" The girl cheered, "you can do it!"
I was currently on a large hill, ready to go down the massive zip wire. Naturally, I was terrified, "I- I don't think I want to do this!"
The boy smiled and came to me, "Come on, Blue. You can do this! You're strong and brave. I'll take you out for ice cream after this!"
"Are you trying to bribe her?" The girl came next to me and tutted jokingly.
"It's working," I said and the others laughed, "as long as I can have extra sprinkles and a chocolate cone!"
The boy whistled, "Damn, you drive a hard bargain. But deal!"
I grinned but it faltered when I looked at the height of the wire, "what if I fall?"
The boy smiled, "Then we'll catch you."
I grinned again, "Promise?"
The girl smiled, "Always."
Once I was eleven years old my daddy told me
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was eleven years old
I always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me
'Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
"Lila," my father said. I was sitting on the floor playing with my dolls, "promise me that you will always stay strong, okay? Even if I'm not always around."
"Are you going somewhere, daddy?" Four year old me asked looking up, alarmed.
Daddy looked at me with sad eyes, "yes, baby, I have to."
"Oh," I looked down, "Will I be able to see you, again?"
Daddy smiled, "maybe. We'll have to see. Now, it's late so go to sleep!"
"Okay I promise," I wrapped my arms around him, "I love you, Daddy!"
He seemed to hug me a little tighter than us usual, "I love you too, Princess."
I never got to hear him say those words again.
Once I was twenty years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Once I was twenty years old
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
I can do this, I thought, stepping up to the starting line, I can do this. The starter pistol went off and I was off, overtaking my competitors with ease.
I won first place that day.
But no one was there to congratulate me.
'Cause I know the smallest voices, they can make it major
I got my boys with me at least those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave, I hope I'll see you later
"I love you," she whispered before the light in her eyes disappeared. She went limp and I screamed and cried at her not to leave me.
But it was too late.
Once I was twenty years old, my story got told
I was writing 'bout everything, I saw before me
Once I was twenty years old
Soon we'll be thirty years old, our songs have been sold
We've traveled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be thirty years old
I'm still learning about life
My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind
My brother I'm still sorry
I'm sorry, I thought, it's all my fault. Tears were streaming down my face and I felt free for the first time.
Soon I'll be sixty years old, my daddy got sixty-one
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I stood by his grave, a tsunami of emotions swirling through me. I was clutching a letter in my hand. Keeping a blank face, I carefully placed it in front of the tombstone, using a rock to weigh it down.
"I love you, daddy," my words were lost to the wind. I walked back to the social worker, still keeping up my black face.
I hope my children come and visit, once or twice a month
Soon I'll be sixty years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Soon I'll be sixty years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Once I was seven years old, my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
Once I was seven years old
Song over
I stopped singing and playing, feeling like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I closed my eyes and leaned back slightly; music always seemed to have this affect on me. I was forced to quit a few years ago but, hopefully, I can start again. Now that my brothers-
Oh shoot, my brothers!
They were probably looking for me. Or, they were still in the living room and not bothered about their brat of a sister.
I sighed and looked up, only to see 6 very shocked faces looking back at me.
Drake's POV:
After Lila left, we all rounded on a very ashamed Xander.
"You've really messed up, Xander," Olly glared at our brother.
"Why the hell would you push her?" I demanded.
"I don't know!" Xander ran his hand through his hair, "I was worried for her! We've missed her entire life and now we find out she was hurt and she's not telling us why!"
Vito rolled his eyes, "Dude, we've known her for like two days. Do you really think she's gonna spill her life's secrets to strangers?"
Xander opened his mouth to retort but was interrupted by the most beautiful music I ever heard coming from the speakers.
"Lila," Olly said at once. I don't know how he knew, but we trusted him.
All six of us sprinted to the only music room connected to the speakers. We quietly snuck in and our jaws dropped.
There was our baby sister playing and singing the most beautiful sound we ever heard. We were all transported back to our past when our parents would play duets on the piano and we'd sit around and watch them. I missed them so much.
By silent agreement, we all sat on the brown couch and watched her.
Axel's POV:
Wow.
That was the only word I could use to describe Lila's music.
She poured her heart and soul into it, rendering all of us speechless as we relaxed on to the couch. The day she was taken was the darkest day of our lives. We not only lost our baby sister but our parents too.
She looked so much like our parents. I missed them.
Vito's POV: (I just realised that I haven't given Vito a proper introduction... especially in chapter 10. Sorry, I keep forgetting about him 😂 😅 he is 17 years old- idk if that's possible since Olly is 16 and Xander is 18 but just pretend, please)
I could feel pride welling up inside me upon hearing Lila play. I never knew she was so talented. But then again, I'd missed her entire life due to some low life scumbag taking her away. I plan to make it up to her, somehow.
The others don't know this but I'm actually very musical. I can play several instruments and I have an okay sounding voice. I haven't told anyone this because it doesn't fit in with the 'bad boy' persona.
I have a faint memory of my parents singing to me. For some reason, Lila reminded me of them.
Olly's POV:
I leaned my head against the back of the sofa and closed my eyes, allowing the music to wash over me. Lila sang with such raw emotion it astounded me. I wanted to go up there and hug the life out of her and promise her that everything would be okay.
But I can't promise that.
When our enemies find out about her, they will try to kidnap her.
I pushed the negative thoughts away and focused on the music.
Xander's POV:
Once again, I have made my sister cry. I feel like the worlds worst brother. I noticed the tears falling down her face and I wanted to run up there and wipe them away and apologise a million times for all the times I messed up.
She sang with so much feeling, I knew she was thinking about something in her past. I don't know what happened, but I doubt it was good.
From now on, I will try to be the best brother possible. It will be hard due to my anger issues but I will try.
Sighing, I closed my eyes and listened to the sweet voice of our Princess.
Alessandro's POV:
Out of all my brothers, Lila's disappearance hit me the hardest. I was the oldest, it was my job to make sure she was safe and after just a few hours, I failed.
I became cold and distant towards everyone but my family. I submerged myself in gang work and spent every free minute looked for Lila.
When Drake first introduced her, I wanted to sob with relief and happiness. After so many hard years, she was finally home.
I decided to be less cold and hard and show my brothers and sister how much I care for them.
Wow, what was this kid doing to me? I've barely known her two days and she's already making me want to change.
Lila finished her heart melting song and seemed surprised to see us all there.
"Um. How long have you been there?" She asked, a light blush forming on her cheeks.
"Long enough," I replied, my voice slightly hoarse with emotion, "that was amazing."
My brothers nodded in sync and that made Lila turn red, "I haven't played in years," she mumbled, "I'm slightly rusty."
"You were great," Xander proclaimed, "and I'm sorry for pushing you earlier." We all looked at him in shock. Xander never apologises. Like never.
Lila smiled, "it's fine. I forgive you," she definitely got the forgiving nature from our mother, "what now?"
"You ever played Football?" Olly asked, his eyes gleaming.
"A little," Lila shrugged, "why?"
"Come on, let's play in the garden," Olly moved to grab Lila's had and she flinched ever so slightly. It was too subtle for anyone to notice but me.
I frowned. What had happened to Lila in her past?
