Chapter 24

Hello! How are you all doing? Have you been watching GoSe? I am so excited and anticipating next weeks episode. I love Bad Clue, it's one of my favorite contents they have. I was so happy when I got the notification. I died. I love Bad Clue so much that I created a fanfic idea for it. You will have to wait and see when I publish it. And who knows, I may feel inclined to do the same with this Bad Clue story. But, back to this story, I hope that you enjoy the newest chapter. I don't have much to say about it, so I will stop fangirling about Going and let you go right ahead into reading.

Jihoon wipes the countertop with an old rag before tossing it into the sink. He turns on the water and lets it run over the towel, cleaning it of all the grime that it's wiped. The cafe is empty, having closed a good half an hour ago. Jihoon is the only one inside, tasked with cleaning up and locking up for the night. He's made good progress considering he's the only one here. The tables have been wiped and the floor has been mopped. The coffee makers have been cleaned and the money locked up. All that's left for him to do is take out the trash and of course clean the bathroom, something he's definitely not excited about, which is probably why he left it for last. Jihoon uses the back of his hand to wipe at his forehead where a bit of sweat is building up. He makes his way over to the trash bin and lifts the bag up. He grabs the ends of it and ties it, sealing the bag. He lifts it from the bin and lugs it over his shoulder. He makes his way to the back of the store. He pushes the door with his back and trudges over to the large trash bin. He tosses the bag into it and brushes his hands on his pants. It's pretty dark out, the only light coming from a flickering lamp post that needs to be fixed. Jihoon takes a deep breath before turning back around and heading back into the store. He's near the door when the sound of growling makes him freeze. He recognizes that noise. He slowly turns around and his eyes widen when he sees a woman wearing a bloodied blouse. In her hands is what appears to be a dog. Her mouth is clenched over the dog's body and blood is matted on the animal's fur. Jihoon's eyes widen and he grasps at the door knob, ready to quickly retreat inside. Suddenly, a man appears looking just as crazed as the woman. He makes a similar sound to her and he looks a lot like the newborn that attacked Jihoon a couple of weeks ago. The man charges at the woman, who shrieks loudly making Jihoon wince. The man grabs onto the dog's leg and pulls at it, something that the woman isn't too happy about. She swipes at the man and hisses at him, almost as if to say to stay away. The man ignores it and starts to lower his mouth to bite on the dog's leg. The woman doesn't given him the chance to and charges at the man, tackling him to the ground. Jihoon lets out a shaky breath as the two newborns continue to fight one another, rolling on the floor and yanking at one another's hair. He yanks open the door and rushes inside. He slams the door shut behind him and locks the door. His chest is seizing and his head spins. He takes a deep breath trying to calm himself down. There are two newborns at the back of his cafe. What the hell is he supposed to do? Right now, they seem pretty preoccupied fighting over who gets to eat that dog, but if they see that Jihoon is nearby. They may trade the appetizer for a full course meal. Jihoon needs help. He scrambles towards his locker and reaches for his phone. He quickly clicks on Seungcheol's contact and brings the phone to his ear. "Hello?" Seungcheol says, picking up the call.

"There's two newborns fighting at the back of the cafe," Jihoon says, his voice shaking. He grips to the phone tightly, his hands shaking a bit. "What!?" Seungcheol exclaims, "Are you okay?"

Jihoon nods, "Y-yeah...I'm inside. But, they're still out there, Seungcheol. What do I do?"

"Stay where you are," Seungcheol states, "I'm coming."

Jihoon sighs as he lets his head fall on the door. He leans against the back entrance to the cafe, staying put as his boyfriend had requested. He assumes that Seungcheol is outside. The sounds of fighting echoing loudly. He has no idea if the vampire is winning or not. He can only sit here and wait. Jihoon is no pushover. He knows full well how to defend himself. He isn't happy about sitting inside and hiding, but he is no match for a vampire. He knows that. Suddenly, Jihoon jumps as someone bangs on the door. He takes a step back and turns around. His hands clench into fists, wary of who is on the other side. "Seungcheol?" Jihoon questions in a quiet tone.

"I'm here," Seungcheol says loudly, "Open up, Hoonie." Jihoon lets out a breath and goes to unlock the door. He yanks it open and is immediately pulled into a hug. Seungcheol wraps his arms around the human and squeezes him tightly. Jihoon stays silent as Seungcheol combs through his hair and buries his face into the side of his neck. "Are you okay?" Seungcheol asks.

Jihoon nods, "I'm fine."

"Good," Seungcheol says. He releases the human, but keeps his arms hovering nearby his body. "What happened to the newborns?" Jihoon asks.

Seungcheol takes a step to the side and gestures outside, "Tied up and going to be taking a trip to the society." Mingyu stands near the newborns, who appear to be passed out. Metal chains are wrapped around them, keeping the two restrained. The dog they were fighting over is still on the floor sitting within a pile of blood. Jihoon grimaces at the poor animal and looks at Mingyu. "You brought backup," Jihoon comments.

"Yeah," Seungcheol says, "He thought it was a good idea so I don't lose my temper again. I mean the newborns are more helpful to us alive than dead."

Jihoon nods, "Thanks for coming so quickly."

"No need to thank me," Seungcheol says, "You know I would do anything to keep you safe."

"Still, you're a busy vampire," Jihoon says, "Yet, you still dropped everything the second I called. That means a lot to me."

"You mean a lot to me," Seungcheol states. Jihoon laughs and shakes his head. "Where are you learning to flirt?" Jihoon asks.

"My friends," Seungcheol answers.

"Well, tell them that not every pickup line on the internet works," Jihoon says with a smile, "Not that I mind them, they have some interesting charm to them..."

"I'll use them more often then," Seungcheol says.

"You do that," Jihoon says with an amused look on his face.

"Hey, Cheol hyung!" Mingyu calls out, "These newborns might wake up soon."

"I know!" Seungcheol yells back, "I'll get going in a minute."

"Get going?" Jihoon asks.

Seungcheol nods, "I need to take the newborns back to the vampire society. I'm sorry that I can't stick around."

"It's no big deal," Jihoon says, "Just go."

"Mingyu will make sure you get home safe," Seungcheol states.

"What?" Jihoon questions, "I don't need a chaperone to take me home."

"It would make me feel better if he took you back," Seungcheol says, "Please, Jihoon." The human sighs, knowing that his boyfriend would keep pushing it until he says yes. He sure is a stubborn one. "Fine," Jihoon says, "Now go and get those crazy newborns out of here." Seungcheol nods and quickly pecks Jihoon on his cheek before speeding off. Just as Jihoon blinks, his boyfriend and the tied up vampires are gone. Mingyu is still there, making his way over to him. "So, you're the knight that's supposed to protect me," Jihoon says.

"I guess so," Mingyu says, approaching the door, "But, I have a feeling that Seungcheol has claimed the title of your protector."

Jihoon scoffs, "Like I need it. If you weren't an undead being, I could probably kick your ass with just a guitar."

"A guitar?" Mingyu questions.

"They make surprisingly good weapons," Jihoon states.

Mingyu's eyes widen and he sighs, "I don't want to know how you know that."

"You're right," Jihoon says, "You don't. Now come on, if you're going to be trailing me until I'm home you're going to help me clean up the rest of the store." The human turns around and heads back inside, not waiting to see if the vampire follows him. Mingyu sighs before begrudgingly following Jihoon.

"I told you that I would let you know of the results," The King states.

"Yeah, you said that last time too," Seungcheol says, "I need to see this with my own eyes." The King and crown prince are standing in one of their labs, watching as their scientists work on identifying the vampires the newborns belong to. When Seungcheol returned with two chained up newborns, the King had to act quickly. His son wasn't being discreet this time and chose to appear in the main corridor, where all the noble vampires could get a clear view of the newborns. The King did what he could before the entire palace. He moved the newborns into custody and had their DNA taken. He had his people calm the nobles, who was wondering what was going on. He even had time to scold Seungcheol for his reckless behavior. The crown prince let his father yell, but he wasn't fazed. He did what he had to do. He wouldn't let what happened last time occur again. He would find out who turned these newborns. "You're ridiculous," The King tuts.

"Maybe, I am," Seungcheol says, "But, I'm also the only one who seems to find this a major issue." Just like before, the King didn't seem that affected by the newborns. Seungcheol has no idea why, but he can't help but find his father's calm behavior suspicious. Is there a chance that his father has something to do with the newborns? Does he know more than he's letting on? "We finished the test," One of the scientists states. Seungcheol pushes the thoughts from his head and gives the vampire his full attention, curious as to what the results are. "The newborns are not from any of the vampires within our society," The scientist says.

"What?" Seungcheol asks. It's the same result as last time. There's no way. It shouldn't be possible. Who else could have created these newborns? "Test it again," Seungcheol states, "There must be a mistake." The scientist nods and starts to move again, but is halted by the King. Seungcheol glares at his father, who still looks completely unfazed even after discovering the newborn isn't from their people. "Don't even bother," The King states, "Do the same thing you did with the last one."

"Yes, sire," The scientist states before bowing. The King nods his head and starts to walk away. Seungcheol lets out a breath of disbelief and starts to follow his father. "You're going to hide things again!" Seungcheol exclaims, "Just like the last one! What are you doing, father!?"

"What I must," The King answers.

Seungcheol scoffs, "How can you be so relaxed!? People are breaking your laws. They're turning humans. This is our second newborn incident in less than a month!!!"

"What do you want me to say, Seungcheol?" The King asks, "I have bigger things to deal with than newborns." Seungcheol shakes his head and stops walking. The King doesn't seem to care and continues to make his way out of the lab. Seungcheol stares at his father, not knowing what to think of his nonchalant behavior.

The King is being suspicious. Don't you think? Let me know what you think he has up his sleeves. A lot of things are happening and it's only going to get crazier from here. You'll have to wait and see what happens next. I hope that you anticipate it and continue on this journey with me.
