Trigger Warning (?): Somewhat disturbing stuff to come. It's kinda mild. [i'm not even sure if this is needed, but meh]

The car came to a stop in front of the mansion and the chauffeur quickly opened the door for the blunette. Placing her hand over her swollen belly, Marinette allowed the man to help her out of the vehicle.
Allowing her eyes to trail over to the garage, her breath hitched when she saw her husband's car parked in its usual place.
"What time is it?" She asked the chauffeur who replied quickly, "Five minutes past six, Mrs Kurtzberg."
"T-thank you," She muttered as the maid led her inside the mansion. She should've been back at the mansion at two, not after six! Did one of the maids call Nathaniel to inform him of her absence?
"I can take it from here," She told the maids who nodded and wandered off with a few snickers.
Slowly, Marinette started to make her way up the stair, knowing that her husband was probably up there waiting for her.
He wouldn't hit her while she was pregnant....right?
He would, She shook her head. She wouldn't put it past Nathaniel to do something like that. He was an absolute monster in her eyes.
When she finally reached the top, she wished she had stayed downstairs.
Nathaniel was there, leaning against the wall as his blue eyes glared at her harshly.
"N-Na-"
"Where were you?" Was what he asked. His voice was low and raspy, Marinette knew that there was no room for argument-- well there never was any with Nathaniel.
"I-I asked the m-maids i-if they could take me to the m-mall and t-to see m-my p-parents," The blunette stuttered out, placing her shaking hands on her stomach.
"What did you want at the mall?" He asked, stepping closer to her. Marinette wanted to back away, but she knew that if she did that she would tumble down the stairs.
"B-baby things," She stuttered out, feeling her heartbeat speed up more.
"Baby things?" Nathaniel raised his brow, coming to a stop in front of her. "What did I tell you about visiting your parents?"
"Nathani-"
"Do not anger me, Marinette," Nathaniel growled. "Answer the question."
"Y-you said I-I shouldn't see them a-anymore," Her eyes burned as they welled up with tears.
"So you're just going to use this baby as an excuse to leave me, Marinette? Is that what you're going to do?"
She shook her head rapidly. "N-no. I w-wasn't trying to run away a-again," She tried to convince him though it was a somewhat lie. She had visited her parents to formulate an escape plan. Nathaniel didn't need to know that.
"Why must you lie to me?!" The redhead suddenly yelled causing Marinette to flinch out of fear and surprise. "Do you know what I can do to you, Marinette?"
Not knowing how to answer the question, the bluenette remained silent.
"ANSWER ME!" Nathaniel shouted, bringing his hand down on the girl's tear soaked cheek.
Wincing at the sting, Marinette quickly answered, "N-no. I d-don't know."
"Well, I can kill this baby and make it look like an unfortunate accident, Marinette. Or even better," Nathaniel whispered with a slight smirk. "I can make it look like your fault."
Marinette's blue eyes widened as the tears came harder. She shook her head. "N-no. P-please."
"I didn't ask a question," The man said, his hand moving to the waistband of his pants. A sob escaped the girl when she saw Nathaniel pull out a fairly large knife.
"D-don't do this, N-nathaniel," She begged, reaching out to grab his forearm only for him to pull away with a scowl.
A scream passed her lips when she felt the tip of the knife pierce the skin of her swollen belly. Then again.
And again.
"You asked for this, Marinette," He muttered before pushing at her shoulders.
She was falling. She couldn't stop herself from tumbling down the stairs.
And suddenly she hit the bottom.
Pain enveloped her body. She couldn't move, she could barely see.
"Oh My God, Marinette!" She heard someone scream. Nathaniel. "Why would you do this to yourself?!"
W-What was he talking about?
"Don't worry, love," He said. "I'm going to call an ambulance. You might've killed our baby, Marinette."
Her arms suddenly felt wet. She didn't have to look-- she couldn't look anyways --to know that it was her blood.
He killed him. Nathaniel killed him.
She felt her consciousness slipping away and she heard Nathaniel.
"I-I don't know why she did it!" He said into the phone, sounding awfully panicked. "Hurry up and get here! What if they both die?"
Her baby.
"Don't close your eyes, Mari," She heard Nathaniel say, but she didn't listen to him. She wanted the darkness to take her away. "Marinette! Marinette! Marinette....."
"Marinette!" An unfamiliar voice pulled her out of her head. She looked up and saw the doctor from earlier looking at her. She quickly wiped her wet cheeks.
"Could you repeat that?" Marinette asked, tugging at the sheets of the hospital bed. The doctor clutched her clipboard as she tried not to get angry at the girl.
"You are pregnant. You are with child. There is a bun in your oven," She replied once more. "I will go tell your cousin and your husband that they can come see you now."
Husband? Marinette's eyes widened as the doctor left the room, closing the door behind her. They called Nathaniel?
No no...They couldn't have called him. He had to still be in France. If he knew about this it would make getting a divorce so much harder.
She couldn't afford having Nathaniel knowing about this. She couldn't afford a repeat of last time.
"Mari!" Tikki's high pitched voice met her ears and her eyes shot to the now open door. Her eyes widened when she spotted the familiar blond man. What was he doing here? "I'm so glad you're alright. The doctor told us what caused you to faint."
"Is Nathaniel here?" Marinette whispered to the redhead, her eyes glued to the doorway. "The doctor said my husband is here."
"No, Mari," Tikki whispered back, reaching out to hold her hand only for the blunette to snatch her hand away. Marinette wrapped her arms around herself as she tried to calm herself down. "Deep breaths, Marinette. Nathaniel isn't here."
Marinette complied with Tikki, trying to ignore the eyes of Adrien and the doctor that were watching her-- one worriedly and the other curiously.
After convincing herself that Nathaniel wasn't there, Marinette sighed and closed her eyes. "I'm fine now, Tikki. J-just don't t-touch me for now."
Tikki nodded and the doctor made her way over to the two.
"Is everything okay, Mrs Kurtzberg?" The doctor addressed Marinette in a fairly loud voice and her eyes shot over to Adrien.
He knows, She chewed on her bottom lip and dropped her eyes to her lap as she nodded at the doctor.
"I have a few more tests to run on you then you're free to go," The doctor stated as she looked at her clipboard. "I'm going to do an ultrasound so you can see the fetus."
After the doctor set up the room for an ultrasound, Marinette allowed her eyes to trail over to side of the room where Adrien sat. He had yet to say anything since he entered.
The doctor then applied a slightly cold gel to Marinette's stomach. She then placed a device-- a transducer was what the doctor called it --on her stomach before moving it around.
"Ah, here's your baby," The doctor said after about three minutes of moving the transducer around.
(a/n: please bear with my google knowledge on this)
Marinette's eyes watched the screen as she saw the little fetus moving slightly. This was bringing back so many memories. The last time she had done an ultrasound, she was afraid to even look at the screen because Nathaniel was right beside her, gripping her hand the whole time.
"Oh my," She heard Tikki mutter from beside her.
After running a few more tests, the doctor took Tikki and left the room with a promise of returning shortly.
It was just Marinette and Adrien.
"So Marinette," Adrien spoke first, getting up from the seat in the corner and heading over to the bed. Marinette sighed in relief when he stopped a few feet away from her. At least he knows what personal space is...
"Please don't tell Nathaniel that I'm here," She blurted out before she could stop herself.
"I won't," The blond man said, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his pants. "It seems you're hiding here and what kind of person would I be to rat you out?"
"I-"
"You don't need to explain anything to me, Mari," Adrien smiled slightly. "You have your reason and you really aren't obligated to tell me. It's fine."
Marinette was speechless. She had expected Adrien to pry information from her. Who wouldn't? The wife of your business colleague disappeared and you found her in a whole different continent with a different hair and eye colour, living a completely different life without her husband? Surely there must have been questions.
"Thank you," She muttered, finally meeting his eyes. Adrien's eyes locked with hers as he smiled.
"No need," He said. "This is honestly not my business, but I wanted to ask you something."
"G-go ahead," She found herself stuttering.
"Are you going to...um...keep the baby?" He asked, seeming unsure. Marinette's eyes widened.
Was she going to keep the baby?
"I-I don't know," She muttered. "Maybe? I don't know."
Her last baby didn't even get to see the light of day....would she allow this one to die too?
The doctor had told her that she was about eight weeks along, that meant the baby already had a heartbeat. Could she really...
"Don't think on it too much. I..I'm sorry for asking," Adrien quickly spoke.
"No...no, it's fine," She gave him a faux smile that he saw past. "I had to think about it at one point."
Adrien didn't say much after that and neither did she.
Maybe....just maybe....she wouldn't abort.

A sigh passed Marinette's lips and she climbed onto the bed.
Adrien had brought them back to the bakery and Tikki closed up early, thanking Alya for watching over while she was out.
Now she was in the solitude of her room while Tikki was taking a shower.
Staring at the bland pink wall, Marinette allowed her hand to run over her belly only to cringe when she felt the bumps of the knife wounds she had.
No matter how she tried to get that out of her mind, it always came back.
Nathaniel killed her baby...and she would always hate him for that.
The baby might've been the result of....rape, but it didn't matter. Her baby was harmless, but now he's dead.
Sliding out of bed, Marinette made her way over to the drawer that she had put the sock she took when she was escaping the mansion.
With the sock in hand, Marinette sat at the edge of the bed and pulled out the square shaped objects.
The pictures of her two ultrasounds.
She couldn't find it in herself to throw them away, so she kept them and looked at them every time a memory of the incident came to mind. It hurt, but she couldn't help it.
Before she could start crying over the pictures like usual, the blaring of Tikki's phone met her ears.
"Marinette, can you get that for me?!" She heard Tikki yelled from inside the bathroom.
Shouting back a reply, Marinette made her way into Tikki's bedroom and picked up her phone. She felt a small smile rise to her lips when she saw her father's name.
She quickly answered.
"Dad-"
"M-marinette, oh my God!" Was the first thing her father said. "I-I left to go g-grocery shopping and y-your mom- N-Nathaniel-"
"Dad, calm down and tell me what happened," Marinette said, clutching the phone between her fingers.
"Your mother is in the hospital."
