Chapter 14

'9 months
preparing
to love for
a lifetime.'

"Seriously, I'm what now?"

The Doctor stood in full white rolls his eyes, annoyed. "Like I said the past 20 times, YOUR PREGNANT. P R E G N A N T!"

He turns to Lea. "I've got more patients coming. You can do something about this. Now out! Out out out! Otherwise I'll tell you Mother about the vase. Out!"

Lea runs out, dragging me with her.

"What are we going to do now?"

"I d-don't know? I don't know! Lea! I don't know! I don't know what I'm going to do! I'm going to be trapped by Silas forever now! Especially if it's an heir! A boy. No. I'm going to be stuck in this pack forever!"

She hugs me tightly, drawing circles on my back. "Like I said, calm. Me, Rhea and Isla will think of something. We won't let you be alone. And we won't let him trap you. I promise!"

She lets go and walks towards the pack house. She turns stretching her arms. "Are you coming or not?! We have friends to visit and things to do!

"YOU'RE WHAT?!" Lea turns.

"Jinx! I got both of you! Hah! Die losers!"

I push my hand through my hair, trying to quite them down. "Just announce it to the whole wide world then why don't you?"

Rhea runs over and hugs me, her tears soaking my shoulder.

"R-remember when w-we used to d-daydream about m-mates and how g-great life would b-be? We used t-to say h-how our k-kids would b-be best f-friends like u-us."

And she sets me off. We both stand there crying for about 20 minutes before Isla and Lea decide to join us in our hugging.

Someone comes in but we ignore them. Then Lea let's go.

"Mom? What are you doing here?"

We all spin around to see someone similar looking to Lea. "I came in because I thought my oldest daughter might have come to pay her 'Mom' a visit but it looks like she hasn't. Also, my vase is lost. Do you know where it is?"

"No Mom! Of course not! Why would I have your case? Pfft no!"

I elbow her hard and she shuts up.

"My friend here needed a room so I gave her this one."

Her Mom looks at my back and then at me. "You're the rogue. I heard about the whipping from my own friend. Aw sweetie, that looks rough. It was a really stupid thing to do. Especially to a pregnant woman."

Oh crap!

The smell gets to me before he does and I see his face. "Pregnant?"

Isla slams the door on his face. "Whoops?"

"Well done Isla! I'm so proud of you! You go girl!" Lea claps and pats Isla on the back and she continues to praise her.

Rhea just rolls her eyes, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "What are we going to do now? He's heard!"

"Quinn unlock this door now!"

Everyone bows their heads and show their neck in submission. "Guys stop it! He's not even in the room!"

The door gets kicked and punched at and I finally hear a crack.

"I need to go! I need to go! Someone open this damn window with me!"

Isla runs over and tries to help yank it open but it doesn't budge. The door cracks more and the window opens slightly.

"Open sesame!"

I look over at Lea and scream. "Come help! That's not helping!"

"Fine fine!"

But it looks like Fate isn't on my side because not just seconds later, the door breaks open, falling to the ground and the angriest Alpha alive stands in front of me.

"What the hell Quinn? Why didn't you tell me you are pregnant?" I wince when he pulls me towards him, my back stinging with pain.

"Stop! Stop it! What does it change, huh? Does it change the way you feel about me? Does it make you love me? No? No! It doesn't! So get away from me. You hurt me and you expect me to come running to you telling you that I'm pregnant? That's not how it works!"

I start punching his chest repeatedly. My knuckles start hurting but I don't stop. I punch out all the anger. I punch out all the hatred I have for him. I punch until I fall, tired.

Then I enter the darkness willingly, letting it consume me while.

"I'm sorry Alpha but it's too much stress. And the silver whips didn't help. The baby is dead. It's dead."

I open my eyes to see Lea's Dad and the Alpha stood beside my bed.

"What do you mean 'the baby is dead'? How can it be dead? I just found out!"

"Alpha, she's too stressed. She's hurt physically and emotionally. She hasn't been eating properly and the baby needed a healthy carrier, not one who has been whipped and starved."

The loudest growl ever comes out of the Alpha and he pushes the Doctor into the wall.

I sit-up and run towards him, yanking him off of the Doctor.

Tears run freely down my cheeks and I stab him in the chest with my finger. "Why are you hurting him? Why are you hurting him when you were the one hurting me? How does that make sense? It's your fault, take the blame!"

I turn to the Doctor. "I'm sorry for the Alpha's actions and I apologise on his behalf. You tried everything you could."

I try wiping the tears but they keep on coming.

My three best friends burst into the room, running straight at me. They hug me and carefully place their hands away from the scars.

"I lost my baby. I lost my baby!"

Rhea grabs my hand and glares at the Alpha, dragging me away from him. She stops and walks up to him.

"You're the worst mate I've ever seen in my life! People say your mates are a blessing, they say to treasure your mate and to hold them close to your heart but you're not a blessing, you're a curse! You gave a gift to Quinn, then you killed the gift with your own hands! How can we trust you as an Alpha when you can't even be a good mate?"

She grabs my hand agains and pulls me out.

What an intense chapter. I did a double update though! Yup, I am a proud Potato right now. And, we are nearly at 1K reads! Already! Ilysm guys!

Bank holiday Monday for me! A whole Monday off. What a great thing someone invented. It's good because I have P.E today and frankly, I just can't be bothered.
