Chapter 9
'The best thing
about memories
is making
them.'
The following night I sat in bed and just rocked forward and backward. Silas didn't even bother coming to check on me, already going against my dream.
The sad thing is, I don't even know his last name. I don't know the name I'll take.
I sigh, pushing my hand into my dark ginger hair. I close my eyes, resting them. It's so stressful having someone like Silas as a mate. I wish had the dream ending, with the Alpha wrapped around my finger. But how can I get that when 'I don't have a say' in anything?
Sometimes I wish I could just ask Fate why? Why he had to pair me with such a lunatic. I'm sure the Moon Goddess and Fate have gone wrong somewhere.
I push myself of the bed, my stomach grumbling because of the lack of breakfast. I open the door, walking down the long corridor on my own.
The doors loom over me and I giggle at some of the conversations I can hear.
"But I want the cookie Mom! I literally cleaned the room in front of your eyes yesterday! Why are you depriving me from human rights?"
"First of all Lea, you aren't a human. And second of all, what idiot has a cookie in the morning? Have some breakfast downstairs!"
"URGH!"
Personally, it sounds like a conversation with my mother. My mom...
"Well I guess I could delay some food for you..."
"I am hungry darling..."
I cringe slightly, running away from the inappropriate conversation. At least they distracted me from someone who left a long time ago.
The smell of pancakes and chocolate fills my nose and I swear, heaven just came to the pack house kitchen.
If I don't stop, I'll probably end up drooling.
I walk in to see a load of people. Everything goes quiet when I enter the room and I roll my eyes, motioning for everyone to continue their conversations.
The door behind me opens loudly and an angry teenager comes in, looking upset. Cookie girl.
"Stupid breakfast. Stupid Mom. Stupid beautiful and delicious cookie. Urgh."
I grin at her words and turn to her. "I totally agree by the way. Being promised a cookie and then not being able to have it is being deprived."
She looks surprised and then looks at the ceiling. "Hear that Mom! You're wrong and I'm right! Hah!"
Everyone turns to see the crazy girl and loads just ignore her. I'm sure they are probably used to it now.
She looks at me, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. "Hey, I'm Lea if you didn't guess by my Mom screaming it. What's ya name?"
I shake my head, smiling. "Hi Lea, I'm Quinn but a lot of people call me Q."
She pulls me into a hug and swaggers towards the breakfast, grabbing at least five pancakes on her plate and piling on a load of chocolate.
She's turns to me, setting herself next to me. "A girl's gotta eat what a girl's gotta eat."
Then she digs in.
"Okay Rhea, calm down. Your and Lea's name rhymes, we get it. Please, take a chill pill."
The small girl pauses, staring me in the face. "Did you just say take a chill pill? How old do you wanna get?"
"I'm offended. Sorry I missed all the trends, GAWWDD!"
Rolling her blue eyes, she passes me the delicious tea. "Your teeth are going to rot in the future."
I sip the delicious cup full of goodness, flipping her off. "I really don't care."
"And we really know. Now hurry up so we can all go shopping. You can't keep wearing Rhea's clothes."
I sigh dramatically at Lea. "So where is this Isla I have heard of?"
Rhea grins wickedly and wiggles her eyebrows. "She recently found her mate...."
Lea's lips turn in a circle shape and I cackle in glee. "Isn't she younger than us?"
I nod. "Yeah but she's had a bad past so when she found him, she sucked on him like a leech."
"That's a mean thing to say to your rogue buddy."
I turn around and see a smiling Isla making her way towards us. "You came!"
"I came! Anyway, who's this? You make too many friends Q."
Rhea snorts unattractively. "You mean not enough Isla. She's practically a loner." I smack her shoulder, scowling.
"Ouch. That was a burn."
"I know, I'm savage."
I gulp at the large amount of people frolicking around the mall and hold onto Isla's hand tightly.
We enter many shops and honestly, I'm a little overwhelmed. The prices are sky high and some of the clothes aren't even that nice.
I've learnt to live the pauper's life, not the rich women's life.
Rhea stops in front of Victoria Secret and I groan, Isla joining me. "Seriously?! How cliche do you want Rhea?"
Lea giggles, pointing at one of the things. "You two have mates, I think this is the perfect way to impress them. I mean, they'll be crazy for you, if ya know what I mean. Wink wink."
I shove her lightly, grinning. "Did you seriously just say 'wink wink'?"
"Yup, you got a problem?"
"None at all child."
She groans, glaring at me. "Just because I'm turning 17 in a month and am the youngest doesn't mean I'm a child."
"You're not 18 so..."
She ends up shoving me into the store, nearly making me hit a barely covered mannequin.
Rhea picks up loads, dumping them in the basket. We spend too much on loads and she picks a lot of them up, explaining how they work.
"Got it boss!" I salute, mimicking a soldier and she just points at the waiting area to buy stuff.
Isla walks with me, spending the money on the Beta's card. Silas wasn't nice enough to give me his.
I look up at the price and accidentally make awkward eye contact with the cashier. The weird thing is, it's a he.
We stare at each other awkwardly for the next five minutes and I cough, trying to break the eye contact.
He clears his throat and continues to put the things into the bag. He blushes slightly at them.
Why is he working here if he's blushing over it?
"That'll be $450." I whistle and Isla grins, grabbing the bags off the embarrassed guy.
"What is been going on between you and the Alpha? And why aren't you a part of his pack yet?"
I sigh, clapping my hands together. "He's just so annoying! I've given him a chance, but he's doing nothing to help me stay with him. Right now, I really want to leave. It's the stupid mate bond at keeps me begging for more. And he's just not making me a part of his pack. Not that I'm complaining. I quiet like being a rogue."
She rolls her eyes and gives me an annoyed expression. "But Jax said that when you get accepted into the pack, so will I! If he doesn't include you, then I will never join either!"
I shake my head at her. "No because unlike me, your mate loves you. If Silas doesn't make me a part of his pack, it doesn't matter. Because he has to make you his Beta's mate and a part of his pack. You belong there Isla. I don't. I'm an omega and I won't ever change."
Isla's eyes softened and she places her hand on my shoulder before pulling me into a hug.
"You're the best Q. Just know, I love you as much as I love Jax. You're like a sister to me. And you never think about yourse-"
I stop her. "Save me the 'you're the best' talk because I'm not. I've killed people and I'm not the best. Just don't. By the way, I should be loved more than Jax, you met me first!"
Hitting me, she looks around and gasps.
"Where the hell is Rhea and Lea?"
