"The Girl"
***
"After you loose, are you gonna cry like a baby? Should I grab you a tissue box so that you're prepared?"
"I don't know, Katrin, but you might want to go start preparing your transfer to another school after I fucking destroy you."
Stiles sighed deeply, rolling his eyes and sharing a look with Scott and Allison as Ollie and Katrin stared each other down. Ollie crossed his arms tight across his chest, his arms cold as he had thrown his hoodie at Stiles the second Katrin challenged him to a race in rock-climbing, which was supposed to just be a fun sport for gym class. Leave it to Ollie and Katrin to turn it into a competition.
The redhead scoffed, her ponytail swishing around her shoulders as she pulled off her rings one by one. "Please, Ollie, I've seen you fall off of the curb with no one anywhere around you."
"Yeah? Well your arms are so skinny that you're gonna have to go to the hospital after climbing three feet off the ground." He retorted, raising a bemused eyebrows as his cousin continued to remove her countless amount of jewellery.
"Please, I could crush you in one hand-" she held up her arms, flexing her muscles and sticking her middle finger up at Ollie, who took a step forward and pointed at her.
"You wanna have a flexing competition? It's on, bitch!"
"No! No!" Finstock ran over, standing in front of them and holding his arms out. He rolled his eyes as his eyes darted between Katrin and Ollie, who were glaring at each other so harshly it appeared that they actually hated each other. "Come on! I know you two have this weird competitive streak, but we don't have time for this! Just get in the harnesses!"
"Whatever you say, Coach." Katrin grabbed Finstock's arm, pouring her jewellery into his hand and turning away as he pulled a puzzled face, turning to look over at Scott and Stiles, both of whom just shrugged.
"Let's bet on this," Ollie mused as he tightened the straps of the harness around his legs. "If I win, you have to do something you hate, and if I win, I have to do something I hate."
"Like what?" The redhead responded snidely, "go for a lap in the pool? Stop styling your hair?"
"I don't style my hair!" He exclaimed, ruffling his curls, "It's all natural beauty here, Denny, no need to be jealous."
Katrin cocked an eyebrow, glancing at him sideways. "No comeback for the pool thing, I see."
"I'm not a good swimmer!"
"Fine," Katrin paused for a moment as Ollie rested his hand on the first plastic rock. "If I win, you have to give me your cat."
"What?" Ollie demanded, his voice so loud that some of the onlooking classmates jumped. "That's ridiculous! I'm not giving you my cat!"
"But it would make you sad, and I want to win this." She squared her shoulders, jutting out her chin defiantly. "If I win, I get Simba."
"Fine, if I win you have to ask Lydia out on a date."
"What! That's fucking stupid!"
"More stupid than giving you my cat?"
Katrin paused, sizing Ollie up. He met her gaze, wiggling his eyebrows condescendingly at the girl. Finstock muttered something inelligable under his breath as Ollie licked his lips, holding out his hand, Katrin swinging hers over to shake it. "Deal. Prepare to fucking die."
"I'm a bad bitch, you can't kill me."
"Stop making Vine references."
"Is this finally settled?" Finstock demanded, holding up his hand to display Katrin's jewellery, "we've been here for so long your rings are starting to rust."
"That's impossible," the girl shook her head, "gold doesn't rust."
"For the love of-" Finstock pinched the bridge of his nose, looking one hundred percent done with those two. "I want to go home now, one, two, three, go!"
Ollie turned around so quickly that he almost got whiplash, jumping up as high as he could and grabbing onto one of the rocks, doing almost a full pullup before he found somewhere to put his foot.
"Hey!" Katrin shouted from below him, "that's not fair! You're a giant!"
"There are no rules in hell, cousin - ow!" He grunted in surprise when Katrin grabbed his ankle, tugging sharply and causing him to loose his footing, his leg smacking into the hard surface of the platform. Katrin laughed as she caught up to him, Ollie scrambling to continue the climb as his classmates watched in a mixture of amusement and confusion.
"If you guys get hurt doing this, I am not to be held responsible!" Finstock yelled as Ollie tried to push Katrin off the wall using his forearm. "Okay? You better have medical insurance!"
Ollie chose to ignore him, instead reaching up as high as he could and using his arms to pull himself up. He could hear Katrin curse from below, and whooped victoriously when his hand hit the top rock. "Ha! Ha ha!" He turned to point down at Katrin triumphantly. The girl scowled, her face positively murderous as Ollie cheered for himself. "Whoo! I'm the best, I get to keep my cat, I can not be thwarted!"
"You've been thwarted like fourteen times in the past month," Katrin pointed out, but Ollie chose to ignore him.
"What do you mean? My arms are just too strong-"
His voice cut off when Katrin yanked on his foot again, although this time he wasn't prepared, and he groaned when the harness caught in from hitting the ground, definitely giving him whiplash this time. He sat there for a second, rotating his neck around. "Scott, I'm sorry for laughing at you when Allison kicked you, this hurts."
He could hear his friend laugh. "Thanks, Ollie."
"Thank God that's over!" Finstock exclaimed as Katrin hopped down, pulling off her harness with a scowl on her face, Ollie following suit. He shook out his legs as Katrin collected all of her jewellery. "I think I aged ten years watching you two interact." He rolled his eyes, glancing down at his clipboard. "Okay, next up is Stilinski and... Erica."
"Hey, Katrin-" Ollie lowered his voice as Stiles walked past him, tossing him his hoodie. "Where are you gonna take Lydia out on your date?"
"To your funeral!" She exclaimed cheerily, although Ollie was still grinning as he reached over to poke her shoulder. She swatted his arm away with a scowl.
"Hey, Ollie-" Allison leaned over to the two, lowering her voice to a whisper as Scott tilted his head to listen. "Scott told me about your vision."
Ollie blinked. "Of course he did."
"I think that we should be careful." The brunette said, brushing a piece of raven hair behind her ear. "Derek as an Alpha was dangerous enough already. And he already has Isaac, he would just be even more dangerous with two Beta's."
Scott nodded soundly, turning to Ollie and tapping his arm as if struck by a sudden thought. "Hey, what did she look like?"
"Dude, I'm bad at remembering visuals," Ollie reminded, "It's always hazy. But she was blonde, and pretty, and I'm pretty sure wanted to murder me."
"Okay, so what girls in our school want to murder you?" Scott asked. Ollie shrugged, glancing over at Katrin.
"Other than Kat? I dunno."
"The answer is no one," Allison sighed deeply, shaking her head. "Girls like Ollie because he's not an asshole."
"Ha," Katrin snickered to herself, "imagine what they felt when he started dating a guy."
"I like to keep people on the edge of their seats. Especially regarding my sexuality, since I don't even know my sexuality yet."
"Okay, but back to the girl-" Allison exhaled softly, pursing her lips. "How do we know who Derek will go for next?"
"Well, we know she's blonde and female," Katrin put a finger to her chin, "That narrows it down to... every single girl in my biology class."
Allison shot her a confused look. "I'm in your biology class."
"Every single girl in my biology class other than Allison."
"Hey guys!" Stiles grinned, bounding up to the small group with a wide smile on his face. His cheeks were lightly flushed pink, and he leaned up to sling an arm around Ollie's shoulder, his eyes flitting between Scott and Allison suspciously. "What did I miss?"
"We're trying to figure out what blonde girl Ollie saw in his vision," Scott explained, shoving his hands into his pockets and shrugging his shoulders. "It doesn't look very good for us."
"What do you mean?" Stiles asked, his eyebrows scrunching together slightly as Ollie glanced at him, grinning.
"There are ten thousand blonde girls at our school, dumbass." Katrin exhaled sharply through pursed lips, glancing to her side where the rock climbing wall was set up. "It's kinda hard to... narrow it down."
Ollie tilted his head to follow her gaze, only to see that she was staring up at Erica Reyes, who was near the middle of the wall, unmoving except for the barely noticeable shaking of her shoulders. Ollie frowned, taking a few steps forward and tentatively calling out, "Erica? Are you okay?"
"Are you dizzy?" Coach called out in what Ollie thought was an insanely unhelpful tone. "Is it vertigo?"
There was a barely audible scoff from behind Ollie as Lydia stepped forward, her arms crossed as she nonchulantly flicked a piece of hair behind her shoulder. "Vertigo's a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear."
Katrin snickered, before quickly trying to cover it up as a cough at the stern look that Scott gave her. "Yeah," she aggreed, making a point to not look over at Lydia. "She's just freaking out."
Finstock called up to the girl again, and Ollie had to strain his ears to hear her weak, "I'm okay," that she called out in response. The man turned to point at Ollie, gesturing sharply upwards. "Okay, Sanchez, you proved that you're good at this. Go get her."
"What?" Ollie blurted out, his face contorting in confusion as his head whipped around to look at Stiles, only earning a shrug in response. "How am I supposed to do that?"
"It's not safe," Allison pointed out the obvious, Ollie turning to mutter something to Stiles about Finstock's secrets plans to kill him. "You know she's epileptic."
"What?" Finstock demanded, throwing his hands up in the air in exasperation. "Why doesn't somebody tell me these things?"
"It seems illegal that they didn't tell you." Ollie muttered, his eyes squinted from the harsh lighting of the gym as he glanced over at Coach. "Are you sure there isn't a file or something?"
Coach ignored him. "Erica!" He yelled out, gesturing to the mat as if she would be able to see him. "You're alright, okay? Just kick off, there's a mat to catch you!"
When his words seemed to have no impact, he exhaled sharply in frusteration. "Fine! Sanchez will catch you! Just lean back!"
"I can't just randomly catch people!" Ollie shot back, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms. "I have terrible reflexes-" He reached over to grab Stiles's hand, yanking him over, "right, Stiles?"
"It's true. I once hit him in the face with an apple because he wasn't expecting me to toss it to him."
Finstock scrunched up his face, turning to give Ollie an incredibly judgmental gaze, "don't you play baseball?"
"Yes, but I also lack basic human life skills."
"Okay, Erica!" Finstock swiftly turned away from the boys, focusing his attention back to the matter at hand. "Just lean back, okay? The mat will catch you."
Ollie watched as the blonde slowly released her death grip on the stones, leaning back and slowly falling to the ground. Ollie turned to lean in closer to Stiles, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Hey, do you think Erica could be the girl in my vision?"
Stiles winced slighly, "She doesn't really seem like a werewolf to me."
"Yeah, not yet..." Ollie glanced over at the girl as she climbed out of her harness, an embarassed expression on her face. "But Derek went for Isaac because he knew he was an easy target. You know, because of his dad."
"Yeah-"
"So what if that's what he's doing? Turning people who really have a reason to be turned."
Stiles stared at the floor for a second, mulling over his words, his eyes widening slowly. "Holy shit. You might actually be right."
Ollie pulled a face, "don't seem so surprised, Stilinski."
"Sorry," Stiles cleared his throat, spreading his arms out dramatically. "Oliver Sanchez, you are a genius!"
"I know I am!" Ollie jumped when he realized that Erica had already walked past him, her head down as she beelined for the door. "Hey!" He turned around, jogging over to the girl and holding out his arm, tapping hers and smiling when she whipped around to look at him, "Hey, Erica - are you okay?"
The girl blushed, crossing her arms tight over her stomach and looking down at the floor, her hair falling over her face and partially obscuring her face. "I'm fine."
Ollie nodded, shrugging his shoulders and squinting at her. "Okay."
She seemed surprised by his blunt response, rising her eyes only to find that he was grinning. A spark of anxiety flashed through her chest, expecting him to start making fun of her, but instead, he said something totally unexpected.
"Once, a few weeks ago, Scott and Stiles had to do this swimming exercise for lacrosse," he glanced down for a split second, biting his lip before looking back up at Erica. "And I went along with the, because I'm supportive and all. Anyway, I wanted to prove to Stiles that I was better at swimming than him, but within three seconds of getting in the water, I literally almost drowned."
Erica laughed. A small, surprised chuckle that slipped past her lips without the girl even realizing it. "What?"
"I suck ass at swimming, in short." Ollie pursed his lips, "I can swim, but only for a few seconds before I either sink or find something to hold onto." He rested a hand on her shoulder in what he hoped was a comforting manner, "we all have weaknesses, Erica. It's nothing to be ashamed of."
She smiled, confidently this time, meeting his gaze with a barely noticeable nod. "Thanks, Oliver."
"Anyday, Reyes." He tipped an imaginary hat as the girl giggled, walking away shyly. Ollie paused, mentally praying that Derek didn't do anything stupid.
He didn't need to ruin this girls life too.

"Alright, bitches, here's the plan-" Ollie threw his shirt into Stiles's open locker, the boy jumping in surprise, whipping around as if he had been caught doing something incriminating. Ollie crossed his arms over his bare stomach, his gaze flitting between Scott and Stiles. "I think Derek's going to go after Erica."
"Erica?" Scott repeated, a dumbfounded expression on his face as Ollie leaned over Stiles to reach into his locker, pulling out a hoodie. "Is this mine?"
Stiles nodded, so Ollie pulled the sweater over his head, his voice muffled as he tried to speak through the fabric. "Yes, Erica!" He ruffled his hair. "Derek goes for people who would willingly consent to being turned, right?"
Scott rocked back and forth on his feet, "I guess..."
"And correct me if I'm wrong-" he turned to Stiles, "Erica is both female and blonde?"
Stiles snorted, nodding. "That would be correct."
"All I'm saying is that we should keep an eye on her." Ollie shrugged, "we've never tried out the whole 'listening to Ollie' thing, and I personally think it's a real winner."
"I object!" Stiles raised his hand in the air, "I think Ollie's dumb!"
The Hispanic boy turned around to give his boyfriend a challenging look. "Do you seriously want to fight, Stilinski?"
Stiles wiggled his eyebrpws flirtatiously, "yes."
"I hate you."
"No you-" Stiles's voice cut off at a sudden movement from Scott. Ollie subconsciously jumped as the boy turned, sprinting right out of the locker room back into the gym. Ollie blinked once at the loud bang that resonated upon his departure, before turning to shoot Stiles a puzzled look.
The boy shrugged in response, gesturing for Ollie to follow him as they jogged over to the door.
Ollie's eyes flew open as he observed the scene in front of him. Erica was on the floor, jerking back and forth with sporadic motions as Scott gently set her on the ground, as if he had caught her from falling.
"Put her on her side!" Katrin, who had appeared from seemingly nowhere, Allison in tow, ordered, running over and dropping to her knees next to the girl as Scott gently rolled her over onto her side.
"Oh fuck-" Ollie ran over to the group, his heartbeat increasing with his anxiety. "Maybe I do suck at giving advice."
"Yeah, maybe." Stiles shrugged, his eyes wide as Katrin yelled at someone to call the hospital, putting a hand gently on her forehead, tracing circles into her skin in a soothing motion. "Or maybe you're just too charming for your own good."
"Let's go with that one." Ollie dropped onto his knees, looking up at Scott as Erica clutched onto his hand with the jaws of death. "How did you know?"
Scott looked back at him, his eyes wide and his face turning red.
"I think you were right."
