"New Beginnings"

***

Everyone had a different impression of Oliver Sanchez now.

His first day back at school after his 'accident' (a bunch of dudes beat him up in the forest, you now, the usual shit that happens to Ollie), he felt like an entirely different person. Maybe it was because his life would never be the same; or maybe because the only way to show his struggles was a small scar above his eyebrow from getting punched in the face a bunch of times, and then running around in the woods.

People stared at him... and not in the way he was used to. He walked down the hallway, feeling like the main character in a cheesy nineties movie. People all had their own assumptions about why Oliver Sanchez was in the hopsital for a week, and none of them could even begin to cover the truth behind what really happened.

Ollie tried to act normal. He glared at some people and grinned at others, but he knew that deep down, nobody would look at him the same ever again.

 "Does that hurt?"

Ollie shook his head as the doctor put pressure on another part of his ribs. The bruising was nearly gone, and after a few days of literally not moving at all, Ollie was finally at one of his last checkups. (The awful part of being in a hospital bed is that they tell you to 'get some rest', which is really hard when the boy in question has really awful insomnia, and everytime he sleeps he has a tendency to accidentally tell the future.)

"Nope," he smiled, hoping that if he acted as happy as possible he could get the hell out of there sooner. His boyfriend was wandering around somewhere unsupervised, and when Stiles is unsupervised, things tend to get broken. "I feel great!"

"Don't listen to him, Nancy." Nicole Denny drawled from her spot in the corner of the room. The woman was in her light blue scrubs, her wild red hair pulled back as she crossed her legs and squinted at her son. "He's a delinquent."

Ollie pulled a face, glad that his mother didn't even know of half of the illegal things he did. "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you I was in a hospital after getting beaten up."

"Oh no, you should be sorry about me having to figure it out when Katrin yelled at a paramedic and Stiles yelled at the ambulance driver so loudly that he almost gave him a heart attack."

Ollie blinked, "I'm sorry for not telling you what happened."

Nicole rolled her eyes, waving him off as the nurse prodded at Ollie's chest again. "Any pain there?"

 "No, I'm fine."

"Take a deep breath for me."

Ollie complied obediantly, sucking in a deep breath, pleased when it didn't hurt at all. He grinned at Nancy, who smiled at him, patting his shoulder. "You're good to go. Be sure to check in if you are experiencing any pain."

"Thanks," Ollie smiled again, snatching his shirt off of the bed beside him and shrugging it on, turning to Nicole. "You know, you look really pretty today."

She waved her hand, "go see Stiles. And tell Kat that we're going."

Ollie beamed, kissing her cheek. "Thanks!"

"Yeah, yeah." She smiled somewhat reluctantly. "I'm glad you're feeling better sweetie. But you're still grounded!"

Ollie chuckled as he backed away, saluting the woman before taking off down the hall, yelling his hellos to the familiar faces as he did.

It didn't take long for Ollie to find his boyfriend, because he knew exactly where he was gonna be. Lo and behold, there he was, sprawled across a row of chairs, asleep. Katrin was nowhere to be seen, probably talking to Lydia again. It was odd, it was like Lydia almost getting killed by a werewolf gave Katrin a newfound respect for her, and now the girls are... sort of friends, apparently. The whole situation is confusing to Ollie to be honest, but it meant he didn't have to listen to rants about how different the two look, so he wasn't complaining.

He shook his head in slight exasperation at Stiles, although he was smiling when he walked over, kneeling down by the chairs and raising an eyebrow at Stiles, who appeared to be quietly mumbling in his sleep.

 "STILINSKI!"

Stiles jolted awake with a surprised yelp as he fell out of his chairs, rolling onto the ground as Ollie burst into laughter.

"Holy-" Stiles jumped to his feet, rolling his eyes and reaching over to slap Ollie's arm. "You're actually the worst."

"Stop confusing love with hate," Ollie teased, flicking Stiles's forehead. "How can you fall asleep anywhere?"

"Well you never sleep so I thought I'd make up for it."

 "How thoughtful."

"Hey, gays." The voice of Katrin Denny spoke as she shut the door to Lydia's room behind her. She sauntered over to the boys, a smile on her face as Ollie's eyebrows furrowed.

 "What did you say?"

 "I said 'hey guys'."

"No you-"

"Anyway!" Katrin clapped her hands together, "I'm starving so can we get food before we go?"

"Where?" Stiles muttered, yawning and leaning his head on Ollie's shoulder. "The five-star hospital food court?"

"I don't appreciate the sarcasm, Stiles, give me money I'm going to the vending machine."

Stiles blinked, turning to look up at Ollie, who scowled. "Why do you immediately assume that I have money? I haven't had money since I was eight."

When the two just continued to stare at him, he rolled his eyes and shoved his hand into his pocket, grabbing his wallet that he honestly forgot that he had, handing it to Katrin. "There's probably only five dollars in there."

 "Sweet, come on losers."

Stiles kissed Ollie's cheek, before proceeding to almost trip over a chair and almost tackle Katrin. Ollie's eyes were drawn over to the door of Lydia's room.

He had visited the girl during the time when he was stuck in the hospital, and he had a vision when he did. It was terrifying for one, and it hurt his ribs for two. Instead of seeing something, his vision went completely dark, a single scream piercing through the air that chilled him to the core. He had no idea what it meant, but now, he was reminded of it every time he even glanced at her. He felt like he had to figure out what that scream was.

Because he wasn't sure if what he heard was even... human.

He tore his eyes away from the closed door, trying to shake off the sinking feeling in his gut as he jogged down the hall to find his friends.

He turned the corner right as Katrin punched the glass of the vending machine, proceeding to curse loudly and hold her hand to her chest. "What are those things made of?"

"Here, I got it-" Stiles reached up, grabbing either side of the machine, shaking it slightly to no avail. Ollie cocked an eyebrow, crossing his arms as he watched the two assault a vending machine. "Um, hey, what the fuck?"

"The damn thing won't give me my chocolate!" Katrin smacked the vending machine again, before wincing as she remembered she already hurt her hand. Ollie sighed, cracking his knuckles.

"Step aside, kids, I got this."

"I already know that this isn't going to work." Stiles muttered under his breath, as Ollie stood on his toes, grabbing the top of the machine and rocking it back and forth.

"You're not doing it right," Stiles walked forward, grabbing the side of the machine, but before either of them could even do anything, the machine tilted, and the two boys were forced to jump to the side as it crashed to the floor.

Ollie's hands flew in the air as he took a few steps back, while Stiles nervously glanced behind them, and Katrin took a few steps backward, around the corner with a wide-eyed salute.

Ollie glanced at the floor, and then at Stiles. "I want it to be known that if anyone asks, I will be blaming this on you."

 "Wow, love you too, Ols."

Before Ollie could say anything else, the sound of a scream piercing the air made the boy flinch, almost tripping over the vending machine in his surprise.

At first, he thought that it was the sound he heard in his vision... but it wasn't. It sounded, the same but... different? Ollie knows that doesn't make sense, but it was the only was he could think to describe it.

His head shot up, a crazed look in his eyes.

 "Lydia."
