Chapter 1
Tam's POV
I heard something odd going on outside of my room in the Neverseen base. '*What is going on?*' I wondered. I sighed. '*They always have to be fighting.*' I thought angrily. I got up and stomped over to the door. I flung it open and went to the main room. Pretty much all the NeverSeen were there, and they were arguing. "Well, it's not my fault you're making it so Kaida and Spyro don't want to sign the contract! The only reason I'm here is because they wanted me to report but what was happening!" One of them yelled. '* Kaida and Spyro? Those sound like dragon names..*' I thought. "UGH! YOU ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!" Ruy yelled. Gisela screamed in fury. "WILL YOU JUST LISTEN TO ME AND SHUT UP?!?!?!" She yelled over the top of them. "NO I WON'T!!" Gethen cried out. Trix face palmed. "I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS!!! OH MY GOSH WHAT US WRONG WITH YOU!??!!??!" Trix screeched. {A/N. Trix is the made-up technopath in this story} I coughed. It became so silent that you could hear a pin drop. "Tam! What are you doing here?" Glimmer asked. "I heard you all fighting AGAIN, so I decided to see what was going on." I said. "Well, These idiots are fighting about the contract with the Dragons." Gisela said sourly. "Idiots? Seriously Gisela? You're pushing it too far. You know what I can do, so it's a wonder that you want to cross my families line." One of them said. I didn't know her name. But she hadn't called Gisela 'Lady Gisela' like everyone did when they spoke to her. And what was this about disrespecting her and crossing her families line? "Who even are you?" I asked. She laughed. "I thought they told you already. I'm Firefly. Does that ring a bell?" She asked. I frowned for a minute. "W-wait.. Firefly as in Princess Firefly Of the dragons??" I asked. They flung off their hood and nodded. "Right on the spot." She said. I gasped. This was entirely a new concept for me. A contract with the dragons? The dragon Princess here? I didn't know why they were doing this, but it seemed odd. Dragons were some of the most intelligent creatures ever, yet they weren't allied with the elves. Firefly smiled. "So, you're the shade right?" She asked me. I nodded. "So? Aren't you going to do a shadow reading on me?" She smirked. I glared daggers at her, but nodded. She showed no sign of shivering or being cold as I read her shadow vapor. Her mind was confusing. Her shadow vapor seemed to be fighting, as if her Darkness and Lightness was fighting to take control. I sensed something odd, like PTSD hiding in the background. I swallowed. She seemed secretive but intelligent. She also seemed like she was a good fighter. The stance she had was a strong one, and it would be hard to get past her defense and attacks with that stance. I decided to be wary of her. Very wary. Ruy coughed. "Well, Firefly? Do you think you could keep the. contract with The Dragons stable? Also. could you get lunch ready?" Ruy asked. Firefly muttered something that sounded like: 'Ungrateful parrot breath', and sighed as she went in the pantries general direction. Fintan glared at me. Gisela smiled. "Firefly will be helping you in your combat training. You'll also look through Umber's journals for Shade Training. She often wrote things in there about Shadow Flux and how to control it." Gisela said. Ruy began walking backwards towards his room. A loud bang noise filled the room. "YOU SERIOUSLY DON'T HAVE ANY FOOD!?!?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL?!?!?!!??!" Firefly yelled. "I MIGHT AS WELL JUST EXPLODE THE PANTRY!" She called. Another bang noise happened, and an explosion noise. Ruy flinched. Fintan smiled. Gisela frowned. Glimmer cringed. And I stood still. Firefly walked into the common room, black powder covering her pale skin. {A/N. Firefly is a dragon that can shapeshift, so can the rest of her tribe, and she is mainly an elf when she is talking to everyone, due to the fact that she doesn't like to speak Enlightened when she's a dragon.} I wondered why she felt the need to explode the pantry. It really made no sense. "Do you know any Conjurers?" Firefly asked Gisela. "Yes I do. Her name is Edaline." Gisela said. I flinched, remembering that was Sophie's Adoptive mom. Firefly nodded. She snapped her fingers, and a table with decent food appeared. "H-how did you.." I Stuttered. Firefly looked at me, but it was Ruy who responded. "When, she is an Elf, she is a Mimic, a version of an enhancer that's genes got twisted." Ruy said. I nodded. We all sat down to eat. I was on high alert. Glimmer sat next to me on one side, and Gisela on the other. I was tense, mainly because I had no idea if I could trust them or not.
Firefly's POV:
I sat down at the table. The sent of food made me smile. I hadn't eaten in days, due to how long it took for me and Gisela to get back to the base. The fact we were here now, and that we could finally eat, was a good thing. I picked up a piece of bread, and placed it onto my plate. As I was eating, Gisela began to go over the plan that we had. I noticed Glimmer glaring daggers at me. '*Why would she do that?*' I wondered. I carefully thought of reaching out, and taking Gethens ability from him. I was careful to make it so he didn't notice me doing so. Then I stretched out and latched onto Glimmer's mind. '*He is mine...So don't even try to take him Missy Princess.*' Glimmers mind thought. I almost doubled over laughing, but managed to hold it in so I wouldn't choke on my bread. I handed Gethens Telepathy back to him. "So, how is this contract thing even going to work?" Tam asked. "well, it means the Dragons will be allied with us, and will help us. It will also mean that we have free passage into their Kingdom, so we'll be able to go there and hide if needed, and they will defend us. The Dragons also get thing too, but let's not get into that." Fintan replied. I felt my dragon tail start to slide out. '*No. Stop it Firefly.. Don't turn into a dragon right now in a small, closed space.*' I told myself. My tail vanished. As I listened to all the places that we would have the rest of our bases, I began to zone out. '*What did Glimmer mean?*' I wondered. '*Did she know I was in her brain??!!*' I began to tense up. My PTSD started coming in. I calmed myself down by thinking of waterfalls, rain storms, and waves. All I could do was wait to escape my demons.
1269 words everyone! Thanks for joining me on this complicated boat ride! Don't be afraid to bomb me with comments, they are fun to read! I also hope that you stick along for the next chapters. I'm sorry if you don't seem to think this is the book for you. Also, you can make Firefly You in the story if you want, because there aren't a lot of Tam x Reader Fanfics out there. If you decide to do this, just know that you won't be making your own description unless you change it in your mind! Thx for reading this!
