TWENTY-ONE

October 5, 20XX-Sunday

I have seen so much more of the world these past few days with Taehyung than I have ever in my life.

Would I have ever had this opportunity if I had stayed?

I shook my head as I thought about the relationship I had with my father.

Does he even miss me?

He probably just misses having a slave around.

All of a sudden, a cup containing hotteok came into my view.

I took it into my hand with a smile.

"Thanks."

Taehyung and I often bought street food whenever we could. It was as close to eating home food that we could get. We really liked that. Especially since neither of us really had it.

Taehyung smiled as we walked back to the car.

"You know I've been thinking a lot...about what Jimin said. Y'know about having a plan?"

I leaned against the car and nodded.

"Should we make one? I guess I've been scared this whole time... about making one because it makes everything feel..."

"More real?" I finished his sentence, looking up at his face for confirmation that he felt the same way. Like we are actually runaways.

"We can't just keep going North. Eventually, the news will corner us there."

"We might have to leave the country."
I teased, but then I saw Taehyung's serious expression.

Is he considering it?

He just nodded and bit his hotteok. He looked around until he spotted something in the distance.

"Follow me!" He ran off and I obliged.

With a huge grin, he handed me his cup of hotteok and started climbing the tree in front of us.

"I always wanted to do this."

He stretched his hand out for me to take. Once I slipped my hand in his, he pulled me up to sit beside him.

"You'll really follow me anywhere, huh?" He crinkled his nose.

Anywhere.

I smiled and rested my head against his shoulder as we watched the sun set.

Because anywhere would've been paradise as long as I was with you.
