THIRTY-THREE

October 29, 20XX - Wednesday

Taehyung was out this night.

We were running low on money and that was terrifying.

He told me not to worry though...

Because he was able to get in contact with someone that could help us.

Which is why I was left alone, unable to sleep (although, I did try).

Staring at the TV, I knew I shouldn't have turned it on.

But anxiety always wins.

Unable to find the remote, I got up and turned it on.

Flipping through the channels, I stopped when I got to the news.

"...missing hiker has been found after six..."

I just stared at the screen for a couple of stories, afraid that ours would've popped up.

Starting to give up, I headed to lay down.

That's when I heard my name.

I froze in the center of the bed, staring at the screen.

"...search continues for missing girl. If you see this boy, do not hesitate to contact us. It is confirmed that Kim Taehyung has murdered two..."

Before I could process anything, the TV suddenly shut off.

Confused, I turned over to spot Taehyung on the side, holding the remote.

He seemed to have spaced out towards the TV.

I hadnt realized that i was holding in my breath until I desperately needed air.

Taehyung finally blinked and looked over at me.

"We need to leave the hotel now." His voice came out a little hoarse.

I just nodded.

He stayed still just a bit longer before nodding and helping me off the bed.

I slipped off and stood right in front of him.

Looking into his eyes, I thought about what the news just said.

Two people?

Did he kill both of his parents?

I was honestly too scared to find out.

Taehyung's small smile broke my train of thought.

The peck on my lips completely threw it out the window.

Hurrying, the two of us packed our bags and then (hand in hand) we headed out to the front.

On the way, Taehyung told me his friend got rid of the stolen car and now was taking us to his place.

"Leaving early?" The hotel clerk asked us.

Taehyung nodded as he put on his mask.

"Thank you. Thank you for not turning us in." Taehyung said, eyes on the ground.

The hotel clerk nodded with a small wave.

Taehyung turned back to me and guided me to where his friend was leaning against a car. One that was dark as night.

I couldn't help but turn around to look at the hotel clerk one last time.

I noticed a lady came out and talked to him before turning to look at Taehyung and I with a warm smile.

And I just knew.

I knew that they too had been in a situation like us.
