[Nineteen]

Amelia blinked several times and finally her eyes focused. Her mind was hazy and she remained silent for several moments just as the memories hit her like a tidal wave.

After Amelia realised that it had been Slade in the car she attempted to get out. She failed, but did manage to knock the man in the passenger seat out before she was injected with a paralysis toxin. As she lost the use of her limbs and her concisness following soon after, she remembered seeing Slade's face looming above her.

Attempting to sit up, Amelia realised that she was strapped to an operating table.

That was when the panic set in.

She struggled against the bindings, gritting her teeth as the leather chafed her skin raw. She craned her neck, trying to see if there was any indication as to where she was. Her vision was limited due to her position and the lighting, but from what she could see she was in a plain room, with nothing more than a table. The door was on the opposite side from the room and Amelia couldn't be any further from it. Squinting her eyes, Amelia could see that there were chains hanging from the ceiling in the corner of the room.

"What the hell?" Amelia hissed into the nothingness.

And it answered back.

In the form of Slade Wilson.

"No my love. This is not hell." He chuckled as if they were having a causual conversation and he hadn't strapped her to an operating table.

Amelia heard his footsteps and suddenly light flooded the room. She squinted, allowing her eyes to adjust to the sudden lighting change. He stood there, leaning against the wall wearing a smug smile. Amelia wanted nothing more than to rip it off his goddamn face.

"You psychotic bastard, I swear to God if you don't let me out of here right now I'll -" She growled but Slade cut her off.

"Ah ah now darling. You'll what? Kill me? I'm afraid that's going to be a bit of a problem." He grinned.

"Oh I'll kill you alright. I'll inflict unimaginable pain upon you, more than you ever experienced on the island. I will destroy you from the inside, and when you think you're going to die, I'll make sure you don't. Not until I want you to. There will be no time, just one long string of pain filled screams. And when I'm done with you, I'll watch as the life fades from your eyes." She snarled viciously.

The rage just burned throughtout Amelia Amelia's body like a wildfire. She wasn't quite sure how she expected Slade to react. Anger? Fright maybe? Either way, what she recieved was most definitely not what she was expecting.

Slade smiled at her and advanced upon her. He ran a finger down her cheek and Amelia cringed, repulsed by his touch.

"That's it. That's the Amelia I want. The anger, the violence, the killing. Ever since that letter, I knew." He said, his voice gruff.

Amelia wasn't quite sure what clicked within her brain, but something did.

"You. You're 'S'. I was what you wanted Oliver to give up."

"Well done Mia. Yes, you. It's always been you. I'll admit, at first you were nothing more than an expendable puppet. I wanted Oliver dead and if I had to kill you to do that, then so be it. But then I got to know you, and it was then I wanted you. You had to be mine. And you will be soon." He told her.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Amelia demanded, refusing to let any other emotion than anger to be conveyed through her voice. "And why the hell am I strapped to a table?"

"Well to answer your first question, I'm going to kill Oliver first. Obviously." He scoffed and then glanced at his watch. "Which I am currently late for. You know how it is, so little time and so many people to kill. Oh what am I talking about, you'd definitely know. Being the Shadow and all that. Oops sorry, secret identity and all that there."

Amelia didn't remark on him knowing that she was the Shadow as to put it simply, she just didn't care. Oliver was a different story.

"You son of a bitch, you leave Oliver alone." She roared, throwing herself each and every way, attempting to free hersekf from the bindings.

"As to your second one." He continued as if she hadn't spoken. "That was a mere procaution. I'll send someone in to restrain you some other way that gives you more freedom to move."

"That's a contradiction dumbass. You're going to restrain me so I can move more freely? Did you even go to school?" She growled.

Slade rolled his eyes and waved his habd in a dismissive manner. "As the youth of today say, 'whatever'."

"No. They really don't." Amelia spoke bluntly.

"My my. So much attitude for someone strapped to a table." Slade smiled.

"There'll be a lot more than attitude when I get out of here." She retorted. Her small talk was her attempt to swerve his train of thoughts. She couldn't lose Oliver.

"I'm counting on it my dear. But for now, I have a few people to kill." He sighed as if it were an inconvenience.

"No. Leave Oliver alone. Take me instead." Amelia screamed, but Slade continued to walk away, stopping as he opened the door.

"Oh but Mia, I already have you." He chuckled malevolently.

Amelia screamed as the door shut, rendering her alone once more. She needed to get out. No matter what.

If Slade wanted the monster, then that's exactly what he would get. He would get the killing machine. She would be the woman who killed without mercy, who destroyed those who destroyed the innocent. And Slade most definitely ticked that box.

And she knew what she had to do. Shut it all off. She mustn't think of Oliver or Thea or Tommy. Her beautiful baby boy. She just had to let the darkness consume her. It was the only chance of escape.
