(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Jesus fucking christ..." (y/n) mumbles out as she covers her mouth with the sleeve of her plaid shirt, disgusted by all the dust and the vines that covered the inside of her house. "This is disgusting..."

"You said it." Robin agrees, Eddie looking around and avoiding touching the vines that crawled over the walls.

"Where are these so-called guns you have (y/n)?" he asks and Billy walks past the group.

"They're stored in her bedroom. (y/n) keeps all her personal belongings in her room which leaves the rest of the house looking unlived in." he snickers as his love wacks his arm. "What? It's true."

"Yeah yeah. Lead the way since you know better." She rolls her eyes with a smile, the group hustling it up the stairs. "Besides the bat I own, I have something in close proximity in case someone decides to break in."

"What was it you said, wack someone in the head with your bat?" Billy mocks lightly, swinging his arms like he was pretending to swing a bat over someone's head.

"You're very funny, ha ha." (y/n) says dryly but stops short noticing a strange portrait she doesn't remember having on the wall by the stairs. "The fuck is this?" there was more than one, all of them portraying a family of four. "Who are these people?" she takes the picture off, wiping the dust.

"Uh (y/n), you sure this is your room?" Robin asks, opening the door to reveal it being filled with nursery and baby stuff. "You didn't tell us you and Hargrove had a kid together!" Robin gasps as (y/n) runs upstairs and enters what was supposed to be her bedroom.

"This... this isn't right. None of this is supposed to be here." she scrambles to open the sliding mirror wardrobe doors, kneeling to the floor for the loose carpet where she hid the guns beneath broken wooden floorboards. "They're not here!" the whole compartment was empty, just filled with dust and cobwebs.

"Maybe they're somewhere else? Maybe you put them in a different spot-"

"-I never move my stuff, they would be here." (y/n) shakes her head at Eddie before standing up. "Let's go to Nancy's, I don't want to waste our time trying to look around my place."

"Are you sure?" Nancy asks and (y/n) nods. "Let's go, it's just a couple blocks away." The group hustle it out of the house, Billy looking at his own home just across the street and seeing the lease sign on the front yard.

"Wait, why the hell is there a lease sign when we live here-this is before we moved in!" Billy realises and everyone stops to look at him.

"Is that why there's family stuff in my place? Is that the previous owners before I moved in?" (y/n) asks. "But how is that possible?"

"Are you both sure-?"

"-Max and her mum are living in (y/n)'s place now and there's a new family living in our old place. There wouldn't be a lease sign there unless it was before we both moved to Hawkins last September." Billy explains.

"The Upside Down is in the past?" Eddie asks.

"But how far in the past?" Steve says, everyone looking at each other before booking it to Nancy's place. They made it in time, stumbling into the house and quickly heading upstairs. Steve stops short, turning around when he hears something and Billy and (y/n) stop as well.

"What's wrong-"

"-shhhh."

"Did you just shush me?" (y/n) gasps at Steve but stays quiet when he shakes his head.

"Listen." the trio shut up to listen, (y/n) faintly picking up on a familiar voice.

"Is that Dustin!?" (y/n) whispers, the silence breaking when Nancy calls for her.

"Guys! You're right!" Nancy yells out, Steve, (y/n) and Billy looking at each other before running upstairs to see Nancy looking at her diary. "I think the reason that my guns aren't here is because they don't exist yet."

"They don't... exist?" Eddie grinds his jaw, sighing out heavily.

"This diary should be full of entries." Nancy says, closing the diary. "It's not. The last entry is November 6, 1983."

"A year before (y/n) and I arrived at Hawkins." Billy says, confirming why their houses were inhabited by different families.

"And also the day Will went missing." Nancy says. "The day the gate opened."

"We're in the past..." Steve says and the adults look at each other.

"What do we do now!? We have nothing to protect ourselves except for (y/n)'s axe!" Robin exclaims.

"Actually, this might be a long shot," Steve starts off, running back downstairs again and the others follow him. "he's here. Henderson. That little shit, he's here. He's like... He's in the walls or something. Just listen!"

"What Steve means, is that Dustin, Max and Lucas might be here for some reason, at your place Nancy on the other side. We can try and communicate with them like Will with the Christmas lights!" (y/n) explains.

"Yes, yes!" Steve exclaims, pointing at (y/n). "Exactly!"

"Lights! Mess with the lights then!" Robin says, the group running around in hope for something to turn on but it looked like nothing was.

Billy groans in frustration as the lamps around him wasn't working, turning around to see the chandelier above the dining table glowing warmly. "Oi, dining table. Look up." everyone turns around to see the lamps sparkling above the table, twinkling almost with a warm red glow.

"You're seeing this too right?" Steve asks as everyone stands next to each other around the table and they all say yes. Dustin's voice was now more audibly noticeable, a faint energy humming with the sound of his voice. (y/n) was intrigued by the twinkling lights, reaching her hand up to touch the golden specs that felt warm around her fingertips.

"Woah..." the others watch in amazement as the sparkles floated around (y/n)'s hand, almost like fairy dust clinging to her fingertips. Everyone slowly sticks their hand into the cloud of sparkles around the lamps, Dustin's voice becoming louder around them.

"It... tickles...?" Steve asks, looking down to see (y/n) smiling in awe as her whole face lit up in sparkles. He wasn't the only one who noticed, Billy and Eddie both admiring the joy on her face as her eyes glimmered brightly from the gold dust. Steve frowned as he looked at Eddie, keeping a note to talk to him.

"Does anyone know morse code?" Nancy asks, everyone saying no but Eddie pipes up.

"Wait, does SOS count?"

"Yes, it counts." (y/n) mumbles out, too busy playing with the sparkles as she wove her hands through the air around the golden specs. Billy chuckles seeing the childlike wonder in her eyes, leaning down to suddenly pick her up so she could reach higher. "Billy!" he smiles as she gasps in surprise, looking back behind her before she moved forward to play with the sparkles. "You know, I thought fairies were real when I was a kid... I would imagine their fairy dust being exactly like this..." she whispers, feeling her inner childhood self squealing in glee.

"Ok, let's leave Munson to get us out of here." Billy says, pulling (y/n) away but she whines as she cups her hands as if trying to scoop some of the dust away with her but it just floats back to the lamps. He gently sets his love down on her feet, watching Eddie send an SOS message to the kids and they receive the message. Nancy and Robin try their hardest to listen to Dustin's plan from the other side, Steve grabbing Eddie by his arm and pulling him away.

"What gives Harrington!?" Eddie says as Steve drops his arm.

"Do you like (y/n)?" the metalhead looks at him in confusion, the two of them looking over at Billy and (y/n) as she checks on her boyfriend's wounds before he leans down to kiss her softly.

"What? No. I don't like her-"

"-don't lie man! I see the way you look at her! You love her!" Eddie narrows his eyes at Steve.

"I don't know where you got that stupid idea from but no, I don't like (y/n) that way dumbass. And even if I did, why the fuck would I do anything about it except move on, which is something you should be doing! She has a boyfriend!" Eddie whisper yells at Steve and he nods.

"I know but I needed to make sure-"

"-what? That I don't fall into the trap of being in love with someone I can't have? Harrington, I don't feel that way for her. I like her yes but..."

"But...?"

"But in a way that she feels like family."

Which is ironic seeing as I fucked her.

Eddie clears his throat as he shakes away that thought. "She feels like family, like a sister. She cares about everyone so much..."

"I get what you mean... (y/n) goes out of her way to protect everyone she loves, even if it means giving up her life... She makes sure everyone stays happy first before herself... She's understanding and kind, and she has this ability to just make you smile..."

"Oh man, you're in deep big time." Eddie shakes his head at Steve and he quickly snaps out of his trance, pulling his gaze away from (y/n).

"I know..." Steve sighs out, stumbling back when Robin and Nancy rush upstairs and the rest of the group follow up with them.

"Dustin is using Holly's Lite-Brite toy to talk to us!" Robin explains as the group kneels down before Nancy's bed, seeing the same familiar swarm of warm golden light in front of them.

"We're not moving it, but we're gonna unplug it! Stand by!" Dustin's voice faintly wisps through the bedroom until the light turns off. "Try it now!" he yells out and Nancy hesitates before writing 'HI'. "That worked!" everyone cheers happily hearing the news.

"We can get home!" (y/n) gasps out, Billy hugging her from behind tightly at the good news as everyone watches Nancy spell out that they're stuck in the Upside Down.

"Uh, you can't get back through Watergate?" Dustin asks, the adults being confused about what that was but (y/n) gently shoves everyone away to spell 'NO' and 'GUARDED' while Robin explains Dustin's wordplay. "Okay. Uh, Watergate's guarded. We think we have a theory that can help with that."

"That fucking genius kid!" (y/n) claps proudly. The adults try to listen closely to what Dustin says next but the words get cut off.

"...murder site."

"Does anybody understand what he's talking about?" Nancy asks, the others shaking their head.

"Eddies trailer!" (y/n) quickly says and the adults look at her. "Lovers lake is where Patrick died and there's a gate there. Then that would mean there's a gate at Eddie's trailer 'cause that's where Chrissy died."

"(y/n) you fucking brilliant axe-wielding maniac!" Robin exclaims, jumping on the girl to hug her as Dustin faintly praises her too.

"So... So how far is your trailer?" Nancy asks.

"Seven miles." Eddie answers.

"Are there any cars outside we can use?" (y/n) asks everyone. "Come on, it may be the past but there has to be some cars around here right? Or bikes if the cars are too loud and might attract the bats?"
