"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down." Nancy quickly says and Robin stops rowing along with her, the brunette turning around to show the compass to everyone as (y/n) held up a lamp. The group clearly sees the compass going crazy, the needle spinning around like nuts.

Guys, what's going on? Come on, talk to me. What's going on?" Dustin says through the walkie-talkie, Robin picking up the spare (y/n) brought with her to answer him.

"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'aah!'" (y/n) giggles at Robin whole sends her a smile, turning to look at Steve when Nancy looked at him and asks what he was doing.

"Why are you taking your clothes off?" (y/n) deadpans and Steve blinks at her, his mind whispering that he was doing this to impress her but he quickly says something else.

"Somebody's gotta go down and check this out-"

"-and you think that would be you, so-called hotshot that fell off his high horse in high school?" Billy mocks, moving to take his clothes off instead. Was he doing this to help Steve? No. The basic male need to show off against his enemy and impress his girlfriend is what fueled this dumb idea. There was no way Harrington was going to show him up in front of his love.

"It's gotta be me, no complaints-"

"-obviously I do. You're just a washed-up deadbeat-"

"-I'm a certified lifeguard for three years-"

"-I'm a certified lifeguard for over a decade, I know how to surf and I teach kids how to swim. You really want to try and think you can do better than me Harrington?" Billy hisses, Steve sneering at him as the boys stand on the boat and square off at each other.

"Hey, I'm not complaining. I do not wanna go down there." Eddie says.

"Same." (y/n) whispers to him and the two nod at each other, watching the boys glare at each other in front of them.

"You two, drop it with the testosterone glare-off. Jeeze." Robin rolls her eyes and Steve and Billy step back to take their shirts off. She notices Nancy looking up at Steve and (y/n) looking up at Billy, the girlfriends looking at their boyfriends with wide eyes. (y/n) blushes seeing Billy in all his shirtless glory, showing off his fit physique and running his fingers through his hair as he winked at her. 

Eddie doesn't notice the girls ogling at the shirtless guys, wrapping a plastic bag around a flashlight each and handing one to Steve and Billy. "Good luck." he tells them both and they nod.

"Come back to me Billy." (y/n) says as she reaches up to hold his cheek and he leans into her touch, kissing her palm before leaning down to hold her chin gently.

"Always." he whispers, pressing his lips against his loves to kiss her gently. Steve quickly looks away with a frown, not hearing Nancy telling him to be safe as Robin looks at him with a sad look seeing her friend look so dejected.

Steve lets out a defeated sigh, diving into the cold dark waters below him. Billy moves back and kisses (y/n)'s forehead, lingering the kiss before leaning back hesitantly and diving into the water after Steve.

"You really love each other..." Eddie whispers to (y/n) and she smiles warmly at his comment, nodding.

The boys in the water swam next to each other in the dark, nodding at each other as they swam down further through the inky darkness. They dove down to the waterbed, seeing rocks around and dead fish. Lots of dead fish. The boys knew this wasn't normal, especially when the meat was cleaned off the bones. Billy turns around and sees a glow of red in front of him, turning Steve around so he could see it too before they swam towards it. 

The boys couldn't believe their eyes, hovering before an actual gate as Billy reached down to touch it. The gate fissured and gurgled, him jumping back from a shadow pressing against the other side of the paper-thin film and Steve quickly pulled him back. The boys raced to reach the surface quickly, bursting out from the water surface and gasping for air.

"Thank fuck!" (y/n) exclaims, her heart pounding in relief that the boys came back safe as she raced to lean over the edge of the boat to help them.

"We found it." Billy rasps out, Robin talking to Dustin on the walkie-talkie about how he was a genius.

"It's pretty wild." Steve says. "It's more a snack-size gate than the mama gate, but still, it's pretty damn big-" Steve suddenly gasps as he gets pulled underwater but surfaces back up with confusion on his face.

"Harrington, stop shitting around-" Billy curses loudly as Steve screams when he gets pulled down into the water. "Shit-" he screams as he suddenly gets pulled under as well, everyone on the boat screaming for the boys.

"Shit, shit, shit!" (y/n) exclaims, panic and adrenaline of fear pumping through her as she doesn't think when she straps an axe on her back, standing up to dive into the water before anyone could stop her.

"(y/n)!" Eddie, Robin and Nancy scream out for her but Nancy decides to do the same thing.

"Wait, wait, wait. You're not going in there, are you?" Eddie shrieks as he tries to stop Nancy.

"Just wait here!" she says, Eddie and Robin shriek for her as she dives into the water to catch up with (y/n), the girls swimming to save their loves.

Goddamnit!" Eddie screams out, looking at Robin who inched towards the edge of the boat. "What are you doing? She said wait." he quickly says, not wanting to be alone.

"Yeah, I heard her." Robin replies slowly.

"She's in charge." Eddie snaps but the girl just gives him a blank look.

"Are you kidding me? I made that shit up." Robin says, knowing that she was going to help her friends no matter what.

"Don't you go! Don't you-" Robin blocks her nose and dives backwards into the water. "GODDAMN, IT WHY!" Eddie screams out in frustration. "SON OF A BITCH!" Eddie shrieks as he stands up on the boat, pacing around and trying to figure out what he wanted to do. "Oh, this is so stupid." He definitely didn't want to be left alone on the lake where someone died. "This is so stupid." he leans against the edge of the boat, making his mind up. "This is so stupid." The boat tilts and he falls into the water. "Shit! Shit! Shit!"

"Harrington!" Billy hisses as he gets slammed against a bunch of vines next to him, both guys instantly shutting up when they hear something snarling and baying. They slowly get up, looking around them to realise they were in the Upside Down. This obviously wasn't a first for Billy, but for Steve, he was hit with fear seeing the red dimension as thunder crackled in the sky.

The boys quickly turn around when they hear something roaring behind them, some creature flying straight towards them and they stumble back away from it. "What-" Steve pants as he and Billy hear another shriek followed by another and then a sudden horde of them surrounding the boys.

"The oars!" Billy yells out, running to the boat and throwing one to Steve who catches it to smack the creature to the ground. Billy turns around to swing at another, stumbling back to Steve as the two tried to ward off the flying creatures that snarl and screech at them. "Harrington!" Steve gasps as the tail of one of the creatures knock him over, choking him. "Shit!" Billy hisses as he stabs the end of the oar through one of the creatures, quickly ducking their attacks and pounding the oar into the face of the creature strangling Steve. Steve struggles to fight off the others that sink their teeth into his body, Billy wacking them away and quickly helping him up on his feet. More of the creatures suddenly fly from the forest and towards them, surrounding the boys and they stand back to back with their weapons ready. "We're not dying here Harrington, so you better put your weight in this fight!"

"Back at you Hargrove!" Steve hisses out, the boys screaming as they fought off the creatures.

"Die fuckers!" the boys hear someone yell out when a creature suddenly gets sliced in half in front of them, revealing a seething (y/n) as she swings the axe around and slices the creatures around her.

"Fuck (y/n)!" Billy gasps, quickly dodging the swing of an oar that slams into a creature behind him and he turns to find Nancy, Robin and Eddie with oars. The girls help Steve when he gets choked, (y/n) and Eddie helping Billy when the creatures strangle him and pin him to the floor.

"Let my fucking boyfriend go!" (y/n) hisses as she slams the axe down into the creature and Billy gasps for air, Eddie helping him up to his feet while wacking the creatures away with his oar.

"Behind you! Watch out!" Eddie warns and Nancy screams out in pain as the creature sinks into other back, (y/n) quickly jumping to rip it off her back. She screams out as she slams it on the floor, slamming the axe into its body. Billy and Steve both grab the last two creatures, slamming them to the floor and ripping them in half by their tail. The boys pant out in pain, Billy spitting the blood to the floor as he wiped his mouth and Steve does the same.

"Jesus H. Christ!" Eddie shrieks out as he drops to the floor, just processing the fact that he fought off demonic creatures just a minute ago as he throws the broken oar far away from him.

"(y/n)!" Billy gasps as he saw his love panting, her hands gripping the axe tightly in her shaking hands and he rushes to her. "Darling..." he holds her shoulders as she looks up at him with tear-filled eyes that spill down her cheeks as she saw that he was ok.

"Billy!" she sobs as she jumps into his arms after throwing the axe behind her, hugging him tightly and burying her head against his shoulder. "You're ok, thank god you're ok!" she quickly leans back to see if he was hurt, noticing the multiple wounds on his body that seeped blood.

"I'm perfect now that you're with me-"

"-stop bullshitting me!" (y/n) yells out, everyone turning to look at her. "You and Steve are both bleeding out!" the group froze in fear as they hear multiple screeching of those creatures flying towards them, looking up into the red sky. "You know what, I'll scold you both when we're safe. Run!" (y/n) quickly grabs her axe, the group running towards the forest trees that Nancy pointed out to.
