(y/n) sobs as she reads over the letters, holding them tight to her chest. "I'm sorry Max, I'm so sorry..."

"You were never the one that was to die." the girl freezes in terror, looking up to see Vecna looking down at her with vines looming next to him. "That boy," (y/n) looks over to see Billy dying over and over again to the Mindflayer, saving Eleven and Max screaming for him. "was to die. Who are you?" (y/n) doesn't say anything from fear, silently crying as she was forced to watch her love dying over and over again in front of her. "How are you here? How did you bring that boy here?" Vecna rolls his neck, growling lowly in annoyance when a song echoes through the air, a different one but one that (y/n) quickly recognised. "No matter, you can join me and your new friends."

"(Y/N)!" Billy yells out when he finds her, the undead creature trapping her against the boulder as vines crept over her body to suffocate her. She couldn't hear him, watching her nightmare replay and he looked over to see what it was. It was him saving his sister and her friend against the Mindflayer instead of (y/n) in the StarCourt Mall battle. Billy shakes off the terrible illusion, yelling for his love when the undead creature looks his way. "Shit-" he quickly dodges the falling boulders and the house debris that tries to crush him, stumbling towards (y/n). "(Y/N)!" she finally looks at him, clawing at the vines that crushed her throat, silent tears falling down her face. "LET HER GO!"

Billy, no!

(y/n) shook her head, trying to warn him but the vines on the ground had crept up to wrap around his body. He tries to rip them off him but they tie his limbs down, tightening around his neck. "(y/n) focus! Forget what you're seeing! I'm right here! I'm alive! You saved me! You saved Max! You can save yourself too!" Billy grits out against the vines, the music becoming louder and louder for (y/n) to hear. "I know you don't remember this but when we first met, you gave me a 6 pack! I thought you were some weird goth girl who only wore black clothes! I bought you alcohol and made food for Max and I!" Billy starts yelling out, begging for his love to fight. (y/n) struggles to breathe as sudden flashes of memories run through her head, memories of moving to Hawkins, memories of Billy and Max and the Hawkins group before California. "You helped me after I got into a fight with some guy at a Halloween party, helped clean up my wounds after every fight against Neil! You never pushed, never asked and offered your house for me when I needed to-"

"-Billy!" (y/n) croaks out as Billy gasps for air, Vecna slowly suffocating the couple.

"I fell in love with you through our moments together (y/n)! Please! I can't lose you again!" he yells out, his vision going fuzzy and (y/n) cries out as her love becomes unresponsive.

Billy! No!

(y/n) gets lifted into the air, dark spots flattering across her vision as images and memories ran through her mind. A fast-forwarded film of Billy driving her around Hawkins, of him climbing into her room to talk, their first kiss, their first date, Billy giving (y/n) his mother's necklace to her... Then, the kids... feeding them and caring for them, lending them her house for them to have sleepovers in. (y/n)'s friends, Robin and Steve at scoops ahoy, Nancy and Jonathan at the pools, studying together or going to the mall together. It all rushed back to her and she opens her eyes to see the portal open as the music silenced everything.

"It's time to join me-" (y/n) screams as she reaches forward sharply and grabs hold of some random vines on Vecna and ripped them out, him howling in pain and dropping her.

"Billy!" she wheezes out and he gasps for air when the vines squeal in pain and recoil, running towards him as he quickly stands up to grab her hand and run for the portal. (y/n)'s vision starts to blur and fade out, Billy picking her up and carrying her around the fallen debris.

"(y/n), stay awake for me! Stay awake!" he hisses in a panic, eyes widening as she stops responding and her head drops. "(y/n)!" he screams out, light blinding him and he hyperventilates when he finds himself back at the cemetery.

"(y/n) come on!" the kids cried as Steve tried to stop the multiple bleeding wounds on her body, Billy quickly catching her as she falls back.

"(y/n), darling, please wake up!" he begs, patting her cheek to see her eyes open for him again, to see her warm doe eyes.

"We need to take her to a hospital!" Dustin exclaims and Billy stands up quickly, running towards his car.

"But she doesn't exist! She's dead! The hospital might contact someone and those people from the lab might come after her!" Lucas says.

"She needs to go to a hospital! We can't help her!" Steve says, pushing the kids to get into the car.

"But-"

"-we have to risk it to save her!" Max snaps, wiping her tears as she watches her brother put his girlfriend in his car before getting in to drive off, Steve following close behind.

"How much fucking longer is it going to take!?" Billy seethes, his leg bouncing up and down in worry with the Hawkins group waiting anxiously with him. The blood on his hands and clothes had gotten cold or dried off, hair a frizzed mess since he had been running his fingers through it while trying to calm the frantic thoughts in his head.

"They just got her out of surgery but they don't know if she's stable yet..." Nancy says as Robin stands next to her and Billy yells out in frustration.

"Billy, we just need to wait..." Max says, trying to calm her brother from not throwing chairs around in the hospital and getting them kicked out. The group huddled together around Max protectively, the kids asking if she was ok but all she could think about was how it was her fault again that someone close to her was hurt. (y/n) had to give up her walkman to save her... again...

"I can't wait, we need to get her out and safe at home!" Billy sighs out.

"They haven't identified her yet." Robin replies and Steve just purses his lips.

"Nothing's gonna happen right? Even if they identify (y/n)? It's similar to what happened to Byers-"

"-dude have you just forgotten everything you were told!?" Dustin exclaims at Lucas. "What happened to Will is different. He was 'found' again with no physical injuries but with (y/n), her body at the mall was mutilated! It would raise major red flags if people found out she's alive again!"

"She would be taken away to be experimented on or something..." Steve mumbles out. The group go quiet again, time crawling by until a nurse came up to them.

"How is (y/n)? Is she awake?" Max was the first to ask as her brother stood up.

"Are you her family?"

"I'm her husband." Billy cuts everyone off as he answers the nurse, the group looking at him with wide eyes.

"And I'm her sister-in-law!" Max adds, the others slowly saying how they were close friends or distant relatives.

"Only family bonded can see her first. So, husband, you can go through and see her." Billy pushes past the nurse and enters the room, his heart plummeting in despair seeing his love surrounded by machines and tubes.

"(y/n)..." he walks over to the side, dropping to the chair next to the bed and hesitantly holding her hand. "Please... please wake up, open your eyes darling..." Billy breathes shakily, trying not to break down as he kissed the back of (y/n)'s hand. The others soon were allowed to enter the room, stopping short seeing the once Hawkins Bully broken all over again.

"Billy..." Max mutters out and he bows his head, unable to look at his sister as she stops next to him. It was StarCourt Mall all over again. Max couldn't look at (y/n), see her like this again and Steve pulled her against his chest to cover her eyes.

"The nurse said she's stable now... but it might take a while for her to wake up again..." Robin says and Billy's shoulders slump in relief, closing his eyes.

"We should get some rest, make a game plan-"

"-I'm not leaving her."

"Hargrove-"

"-just go!" he snaps and everyone jumps back.

"Billy please-"

"I'm staying here! Just leave already!" he cuts Max off and the group look at each other knowing they couldn't convince Billy. They hesitantly leave the hospital, deciding to take turns to come back later and check up on Billy and (y/n) as well as keeping an eye on Max. The redhead frowns, guilt eating at her as she held (y/n)'s walkman tightly in her hands.

There was this faint steady beeping that replaced the awful ringing and the chimes of a clock, (y/n) slowly waking up in pain as her body felt like lead. She groans softly, trying to get feeling in her hands as her eyes slowly open to find herself in a white room. Panic rushed through her thinking she was back in the labs, looking around in fear for the scientists but stops short seeing someone asleep on her bed next to her.

She recognised the mop of curly dirty oblong hair, the ring-clad hand that held hers tightly over her lap like he was afraid she would disappear again. "Billy...?" (y/n) whispers, throat scratchy from speaking. She leans up and gently brushes his hair away from his face to clearly see him, see his soft lips parted with quiet snores and lashes brushing against his cheeks. Relief floods through her to see her love alive and fine, gently runs her finger down the bridge of his nose as she admires him. She smiles as she sees him slowly wake up, opening his eyes as a smile grows on his lips. "Hey..."

"Hey... you're awake..." Billy leans against his loves hands, kissing her palm and holding her hand tightly against him. He lets her run her fingers through his hair, letting her brush her fingers against his cheek lovingly. "How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?"

"Definitely." (y/n) groans and Billy quickly stands up, helping her sit up. "Where are the others? What time is it?" she asks, looking at the window behind her to see the sun just starting to rise.

"I think it's the next day?"

"You slept here?" (y/n) watched with wide eyes as Billy quickly peeked out into the hallway of the hospital, quickly closing the door. "What's wrong?"

"We need to go. I don't want to get you walking already after you just woke up but the doctors haven't identified you yet." he quickly says, wrapping up his love with the hospital blankets and carefully taking out the IV before helping her stand up. "We need to go before they find us."

"Billy I can't-" he sweeps (y/n) up from her feet, the both of them leaving the room. People stared at them weirdly as Billy took his girlfriend to the exit of the hotel.

"Hey! You can't just take her out of her room!" the couple look at the nurse that yelled at them, Billy quickly running out of the hospital and dodging the security guards that were after them. He sets (y/n) down in the passengers seat, quickly running over to the drivers and booking it out of the hospital parking lot.
