(Y/n) gasps for air as she clutches her shirt, looking around to see that she was now in the Upside Down. The sky was a bloody red, cracks fissuring on the ground around her with vines crawling up the headstones and the trees in the empty cemetery.

She turned her head, trying to find Max, screaming out for her. "Max! Max where are you!?" She quickly gets up, fear pumping through her heart. "Max-!" (Y/n) stumbles back away from the headstone she almost tripped over, narrowing her eyes at why the headstone said 'William Hargrove' before it slowly faded away and turned into '(y/f/n)'.

What's happening!?

(Y/n) ignores the headstone, running around the cemetery when she hears a loud howl making her slowly turn around to see the Mindflayer. "No..." her eyes widen as she sees Billy standing in front of it, protecting Eleven as the Mindflayer screeches. "BILLY!" She screams out for him, running towards him as the Mindflayer kills him. "NO!" Pain ripples through (y/n)'s body and she chokes on the blood that spills from her mouth, her lungs burning and she looks down to see the holes on her body ripped open again from the Mindflayer. Her hands shook but they suddenly changed to a more masculine physique. Her body morphed and she looked to the puddle of blood beneath her feet to see Billy's face looking back at her. She looks up and sees the Mindflayer in front of her with the StarCourt surrounding them, Eleven behind her on the ground as her appearance rapidly changed between her and Billy.

"BILLY!"

"(Y/N)!"

(Y/n) looks at either side of her to see two Max's, each saying a different name but both of them crying out for her before being pulled back from vines that shot out from the darkness. "MAX!" (Y/n) calls out, the Mindflayer ripping through her one last time as agony consumed her body. She slowly falls backwards through the ground, wheezing as her body slams against a dirt ground with the red sky far from her reach above her. She sits up slowly, the dirt walls suddenly growing taller as a headstone loomed over her. The headstone jumbled up her and Billy's name, morphing before it just cracked and she realises she was in her grave.

Please, stop this...

(Y/n) begs in her mind, exhausted before she looks down at her body as it slowly decays and forms into the bloody, gory mess that made up the Mindflayer that killed her. No, there was a part of it that was still inside her that kept her alive and it slowly took over her body, morphing and growing.

Max... Billy, I'm sorry-

"-(y/n)! Please, please don't do this!" The girl heard a scream and she recognised it as Max's voice, slowly standing up to hear her frightened screams.

"Max! It's not me! Max please!" She screams out, hoping that she could hear her as she clawed her way up the dirt grave. "MAX!" (Y/n) screams out in frustration until she hears another familiar voice.

"(Y/N)!"

"Billy? BILLY! DOWN HERE!" He falls next to the opening of the grave, heaving for air as he had run around trying to find his girls. He ignored how he was in the Upside Down, all he was focused on was saving (y/n) and Max.

"(Y/n)! Come on! Grab my hand!" He reaches down into the grave and she tries to reach for him.

"I'm too far down!"

"Jump! Just a bit more please! I promise I'll catch you!" Billy begs and (y/n) heaves in pain, walking back to the edge of the grave before running and jumping to grab his hand. She screams in pain as the holes in her body rip, Billy pulling her out of the grave and pulling her right into his arms. "Shit (y/n)-"

"-Max, where's Max...?" (Y/n) slowly stands up despite her bleeding wounds, Billy helping her up. The two hear a scream and look towards the large looming red fog that covered their view, running towards it without a second thought. The crackling of thunder was suddenly interrupted by a song surrounding the couple as they ran through the fog, (y/n) and Billy breaking out to see Max being trapped by what they figured was Vecna on their left and a portal revealing everyone back at the cemetery on their right.

"MAX!" Billy screams out, catching the attention of Vecna who narrowed his eyes at the couple, Max taking this advantage to injure him as he drops her. "RUN!" Billy yells as he bolts to save his sister.

"BILLY!" Max cries out, dodging against the falling boulders and the house debris while Steve, Dustin and Lucas call out her name.

"MAX COME ON!" everyone desperately screams for her, Max sobbing when Billy finally holds her in his arms before the two start running towards the portal.

"(y/n) let's go!" Billy calls out but she shakes her head, too tired to move. She was drained and became dizzy from the blood loss, falling to her knees against a boulder. "(y/n)!"

"Get out! Just keep running!" Billy and Max stop but (y/n) yells at them again. "LEAVE!" there was a sudden force that pushes the siblings out of the Upside Down against their will, the both of them gasping for air as they come back to the cemetery. Billy moved to hold Max in his arms as she hyperventilates, crying heavily against him as he tried to calm his breathing.

"(y/n)! Wake up! Please wake up!" the others tried to shake her awake, her arms having fallen from Max's ears and now laying limp by her side as her head rolls back. Blood trickled from her mouth and her eyes, Billy begging for his love to wake up again as Max cried out her name.

"Her favourite song! What's her favourite song!?" the kids exclaim and Billy quickly moves, grabbing the headphones from his sister and putting in the cassette (y/n) always listens to.

"Come back to me (y/n)." Billy begs, putting headphones on (y/n) and playing the song. He holds her hands and sees darkness again.

(y/n) struggles to stay awake, her shaky hands now covered in blood pressing against her stomach. She closes her eyes, crying silently from the pain but relieved that everyone was safe again. There was an inaudible rustle, something landing against her and (y/n) opens her eyes to see letters fallen in her lap.

Letters addressed to her.

"Dear (y/n),

I don't know if you can even hear this. Two years ago, I would have said 'That's ridiculous, impossible'. But that was before I found out about alternation dimensions and monsters, so... I'm just going to stop assuming that I know anything.

So much has happened since you left. Billy's dad got taken by the police after you sent them evidence of his abuse. He's in jail now and he's gone for a long time. I didn't know. I didn't know what Billy was going through... I was such a shitty sister. I shouldn't have made his life so much harder. He could've told me, I could've helped him... but you were the one who truly helped him. You helped both of us.

Even long after you're gone, you gave everything you owned to the both of us. I don't know how to thank you. I want to repay you back, do good in school and get into a good college to make you proud. Mum and I moved into your house, it felt more like home to me and it was easier to afford than the old place. Thank you for that.

I miss you. I miss your hugs, I miss your food I just miss you. You gave everything up for us and the worst part is, I can't tell anyone why you're gone. I can't tell them that you saved El's life. That you saved my life. I play that moment back in my head all the time. And I feel so guilty. Billy lost the love of his life, the one person that was there for him when he needed someone.

It shouldn't have been you. I should've done something. I should've run to you and pull you away if it meant not seeing Billy break down after he lost you. It would mean that he never would've left and we could've had an actual family together, just us three.

I just stood there and I watched. For a while, I tried to be happy. Normal. But I think that maybe a part of me died that day too. And I haven't told anyone this. I just can't. But I had to tell you. Before it's too late. If you can even hear this. I really hope that you can.

And yes, the one I am handing this letter to. No matter what you say, you will always be our (y/n), memory loss or not. Things have turned unexpected since we all found out you're alive again and honestly, despite what has happened the last few days, I would do it all over again if it means I have you back.

I missed you, so much. I have missed spending time with you and being with you now, I wish we could've had longer. But if it means that I have to go for you to stay, then so be it. I just wish I could've stayed long enough to make you proud like I promised I would. For Billy, you and me to be a family again.

I never got to thank you in person for everything you did for me and him, for everything you gave up for after your brother died... after you passed on. I just wish... I wish I could've let you know that I wanted to call you my sister. Figuratively of course... I can't think of the words for you... and it hurts that I can't cause there's so much I want to tell you but at the same time, there aren't any words.

You came back and I'm so glad you did. You have made everything so much more worth it, even if it was a short span of time and I hope you continue to make life worth it for Billy. He's more gentle and kinder now. Billy is my brother... I can officially say that now. You have taken care of us both, of the group as well and now it's your turn. Please be happy like you have made me, please don't let Billy hurt you or be douche to you. Beat his ass if you have to.

I just want you to be happy now.

Please don't be guilty when I'm gone... I want you to be living happily with Billy. That's all I ask.
