(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How many times?" Dustin asks (y/n).

"Kid, don't push it." Billy hisses but his love pats his arm to let him know it was ok. It was too late anyway.

"3 times..."

"What!?" Billy exclaims. "It happened two more times after that night!? Why didn't you tell me!?"

"It was by accident with Mike and Eleven and the other time-"

"-she was triggered by seeing StarCourt Mall..." Steve explains, remembering how scared he was when (y/n) just fell to the floor. "I couldn't wake her up man. Your eyes were just dull and no matter how hard I shook you, you wouldn't wake up until Max put your headphones on."

"That's exactly what happened with Chrissy..." everyone goes rigid at Eddie's words, (y/n) feeling a wave of fear wash over her.

"Don't you fucking dare say that!" Billy hisses at Eddie, grabbing his shirt violently. "I'm not letting anything happen to (y/n)!"

"I'm sorry man! I'm just telling you that's the same thing that happened to Chrissy!" Billy growls and Steve forces him to let Eddie go.

"So Chrissy must've heard the clock chimes as well before she..." Dustin mumbles out, clearing his throat. No one noticed the pale look on Max's face as she stepped back in fear from the group, coming to a realisation as she held her arms.

Everyone quickly shut up when they heard sirens outside the shed and Eddie jumped into the boat as he pulled the tarp over him to hide, the rest jumping to hide beneath the windows. Steve and Billy peeked up through the window to see police cars and an ambulance racing down the road past the shed.

"What do you think that was about?" Steve whispers.

"We should check it out, see what the police knows." Robin says and (y/n) nods.

"Or why they're here in case they close to finding Eddie. Then we should move him from the shed." everyone agrees and tells the poor boy to stay hidden in the boat before they run out to get into the cars. Steve drives off with the kids and Robin, Billy in his car with (y/n) following behind Steves's car. It didn't take much time to find the police, stopping a few meters away.

"Stay hidden darling." (y/n) moves to crouch in the space behind the passenger seat and the back seats of the car, leaning against the cushion as she wore her disguise. Billy looks at Steve as everyone got out of the cars, looking toward the body that was on the road before it got covered by a white sheet by the emergency services. "Shit..."

"What? What is it?" (y/n) asks, peeking up through the open window.

"It's a dead body..." Billy frowns, looking at the others before Dustin brought the group over to his car to talk altogether.

"This must've happened only last night..." Dustin whispers, the group covering for (y/n) from prying eyes as she sat properly up on the car seats.

"(y/n)... you don't think..." Steve mutters, concerned about her breakdown last night and she pales.

"You think her hearing the chimes was like a signal that this undead thing killed another person?" Billy asks and everyone went silent. "Fucking hell..."

"I don't know how but it makes sense. She must've heard Vecna by accident." Dustin says.

"So what, I'm connected to him!?" (y/n) hisses out, not liking this conversation.

"I mean... you died but you're alive now. That's scientifically impossible unless somehow it had something to do with the Mindflayer or the Upside Down." Dustin thinks it over, trying to figure out what was going on.

"Wait, did you have a breakdown the night Chrissy died?" Robin asks and (y/n) shakes her head.

"Her music was playing all night in the bedroom when I got back home." Billy says, glad that he didn't turn the music off that night when his love was sleeping. He had come back home well past midnight after trying to find Max's mum but nothing until last night she just stumbled in smelling like a rotten alcohol keg.

"I hate to say it but Dustin might be onto something. Last night was different from the other breakdowns." (y/n) says and everyone looks at her. "I was always sent into the Upside Down first before hearing the chimes but last night, I wasn't sent to the Upside Down. I was still here but the chimes were heard. It felt like my head was going to explode."

"So you can hear when he's taking his next victim..." everyone concludes, looking back at the disaster while Nancy was talking to the police

Nancy tried to recall whatever she could to the police when she noticed Fred missing. She couldn't stop staring at the covered body, blaming herself for not looking out for him and she held her arms tightly.

"Miss." she sighs in irritation at the police and looks up, stopping short when she sees some familiar faces and relief floods through her. Dustin, Max, Robin and Steve were there, giving them a short wave. She was confused as to why Billy was back, he had left for California and she knew he would never come back since it was too painful for him to be in a town where (y/n) died.

God she missed her.

She swore to protect her friend but she failed again like she failed Barb.

"I told you everything I know. I'm sorry." Nancy walks away from the police, ignoring them calling out to her as she heads to the group who give her small smiles while they all quickly stood to hide (y/n) in the car.

"Hey..." Steve says.

"Hey." Nancy replies back with a smile.

"You ok?" Robin asks and Nancy shakes her head.

"No... not really..."

"Yeah... it might get a little worse or better, depends on how well you take this." Dustin says, looking at (y/n).

"We need to go somewhere private first." Billy says, moving to get into his car and Nancy nods.

"I know a place." the group-minus Billy-got into Steve's car, both vehicles heading to the trailer park where Eddie lives. They park somewhere more deserted and away from the residents, getting out and walking over to a shelter with benches. Billy waited for (y/n) to get out, taking her over to the group where Nancy had confusion on her face. "Who's this?" the group look around, making sure that no one was around before (y/n) decided to take her disguise off.

Shock and pain hit Nancy first, unsure of what to think as she saw her dead friend standing in front of her like it was just them hanging out again after some long hiatus. She thought it was a sick joke, to bring someone that looked like (y/n) and she teared up.

"What the fuck is wrong with you all!?" she scowled. "I don't know who you think you guys are bringing this imposter-"

"-Nancy..." she choked on a cry as she heard her voice. "It really is me."

"No. You died. I mourned you for months when I failed you! I couldn't protect you!" Nancy shook her head, not wanting to look at the girl. (y/n) frowned as her friend cried a sudden memory resurfacing.

"You did protect me when you taught me how to shoot." the crying girl froze, her hands shaking at that sentence. Nancy had asked (y/n) to swear to not tell anyone about the guns her grandparents left behind in the family shed when the girl went snooping one day and she promised to teach her since her grandfather had taught her. It was a secret between the girls as they swore to each other to not tell anyone else since they enjoyed range shooting practice in the woods.

"(y/n)?" Nancy looks up and she nods as the girl slowly stood up. "I..." she had no words except jumping to hug her friend she thought she had lost. "You're back... you're actually back..." Nancy sobbed and (y/n) hugged her tight, not letting her go. The poor girl just needed someone after losing Fred and now getting (y/n) back in short span of just minutes, her emotions on edge. "I can't believe it... how? How is this possible?" Nancy steps back, looking at (y/n) to make sure she wasn't going crazy.

"I'll let everyone explain since they've heard it many times now."

"You all knew and you didn't tell me!?" Nancy freaks at the group who simply shrugs, each of them telling (y/n)'s story to her and how they even reacted when they saw her again. After a long conversation about (y/n) coming back to life, Dustin explained everything about Vecna and how he was from the Upside Down to Nancy.

"It's a working theory."

"Yeah, I bet Dustin, cause you keep summoning these things from your game!" (y/n) grumbles out.

"She has a point-"

"-D&D is not releasing these creatures!" Dustin cuts off Steve.

"It's either that or you're naming these shits after that stupid kid's game you play." Billy scoffs.

"It's not a kid's game-!"

"-can we please get back to the important conversation at hand? Like how to stop Vecna before it curses anyone else!?" Robin exclaims.

"Now, whether or not he's doingthe bidding of the Mindflayer or just loves killing teens,we don't know." Dustin says and Max concludes.

"All we know isthis is something different. Something new."

"Doesn't make sense."

"What doesn't make sense?" (y/n) asks Nancy.

"Fred and Chrissy. I mean, why them? Why (y/n)?" Dustin answers Nancy about how the three of them were at the basketball championship game at Hawkins high but that wasn't enough to go on since that was days ago.

Max said maybe the trailer park but (y/n) hadn't been here ever. "Even if (y/n) never visited this place before until now, the trailer park does feel weird." Max says, looking around the place.
