(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(y/n) hums as she walks through the mall, dodging the many little kids that were loitering around the place with their drinks and shopping bags. She heads towards a certain ice cream store, seeing Mike, Will and Lucas walk past her while arguing about getting a gift to apologise to their girlfriends.
"Ok, maybe this is a serious thing for the kids..." (y/n) chuckles, waving to Steve who smiles at her.
"(y/n)!" Max and Eleven grinned as she stood next to them in front of the ice cream display, the girls taking their cones from Steve.
"Look at you two, looking great!" (y/n) compliments and the girls giggle before running off to continue their girl's day out.
"Is El even supposed to be out here? Isn't she going to get it trouble?" Steve says and (y/n) shrugs.
"I hope she doesn't. Anyway, entertain me. I'm bored."
"Damn, don't you have your boyfriend to do that?"
"He has a shift at the moment and I took a couple of days off from work."
"Well, there's nothing really going on-"
"-we've got our first sentence of the Russian code."
"Oh, seriously?" Steve gasps and (y/n) tilts her head to look at Robin in shock.
"Did I just hear you right!?"
"Oh hi (y/n)! Yeah, Dustin intercepted a Russian message and we're trying to decode it." (y/n) looks at Steve who chuckles nervously.
"Nothing going on my ass. I need to hear this." (y/n) moves to the back rooms to see Dustin listening to a recording. "Hey kid." he screams, turning around to see (y/n) behind him.
Yep, still scared of me.
"H-hey (y/n)."
"So what's the sentence you decoded from the Russian message?"
"How does she know!?" Dustin exclaims, looking at Steve.
"I know everything." (y/n) says in a spooky voice, wiggling her fingers. "Nah, Robin just told me." Dustin glares at her as she narrows his eyes back. "So the sentence?"
"'The week is long'" Robin says in a Russian accent.
"Well, that's thrilling." Steve was disappointed.
"I know. But, progress." Dustin plays the recording again and (y/n) could hear music playing behind the voice.
"Doesn't that song sound like one of those little mechanical kiddie horse rides just outside the shop here?" everyone freezes and looks at (y/n). "What? What did I say?"
"Holy shit!" Steve and Dustin runs out with the recorder as the girls just look at each other. They wait until they came back, eyes wide. "You're right!" Dustin exclaims. "It's the same song on the recording!"
"This code, it... didn't come from Russia. It came from here."
"But where? One of the shops here or like underground or something?" (y/n) asks.
"Let's decode the rest and then we might figure it out." Robin says, the girls sitting down with Dustin. "Go sling ice cream Popeye!" She shoos Steve away who groans while going back out to the store to serve customers.

"Someone looks pissed off." (y/n) chuckles as she leans against the front register of the pools staff desk, Billy walking out of the showers with a snarl on his face.
"Heather bailed on me today. Had to look after her shift too."
"I don't think that's healthy, sitting out in the sun for the whole day like that."
"Tell me about it. This is the first time she didn't show up without letting us know to get someone to cover for her."
"Really?" (y/n) walks with Billy, taking his stuff so he could dry his hair with the towel in his hair.
"It's unusual for her. Anyway, where did you head off to?"
"Visited Steve and Robin. Apparently they and one of the kids, Dustin, intercepted a Russian message. I spend the day helping them decode it." Billy raises a brow in amusement. "'The week is long, the silver cat feeds, when blue meets yellow in the west.'"
"At least one of us had fun."
"Hey you!" (y/n) turns around as one of the other lifeguards were walking up to her. "Do you have a brother or something?" he asks and (y/n) looks at Billy with narrowed eyes but he shakes his head, signalling that he didn't saying anything.
"No why?"
"Oh, I just thought-I saw some asshole roaming around here after I told her we were closed like multiple times and you two just look alike. Except he had like majorly curly hair and was extremely tall." The guard says, shrugging his shoulders before walking away. Billy looked at (y/n) whose eyes were wide, a worried look on her face.
"He's not actually here right? Like he didn't just catch a plane from Australia to America and manage to go to the one town I might be in right?" (y/n) whispers as she walks to Billy's car.
"He could just be seeing things."
"Maybe, but how did he get the hair right?"
"What?"
"My brother actually does have crazy curly hair even though mines like a little wavy. He got that right."
"So you two look exactly alike?"
"Not really actually. I look exactly like mum and he has more features from dad but people always say we look similar when we both don't just see it."
"Is it so bad to see your brother again?" (y/n) frowns at Billy as they both got in his car, him driving home.
"After leaving him like I did, which was selfish on my end... yes. For me, it would be... Plus I left that life behind for a reason."
"Maybe he wants to connect again, maybe he's gonna forgive you."
"Why would anyone want to forgive me."
~~~~~~~~
"(y/n)! Open up! We need to talk!"
"Who the fuck!?" (y/n) growls as she hears someone screaming outside, pounding on her door.
"Stay, I'll go see who the fuckers are." Billy hisses out, also pissed off as he gets out of bed and storms downstairs. (y/n) sighs as she buries her head in her pillows, hearing incoherent yelling downstairs and she sits up. Dragging her hands down her face in exhaustion, she gets up from bed and walks out of her room to see Billy arguing with his sister and Eleven.
"You both should be fucking sleeping!" (y/n) snaps and the girls gulp, stepping back. "And you're soaking my carpet!" she whines loudly, going to get towels and coming back to aggressively pull off the girl's raincoat to chuck it in the kitchen sink. "What are you doing out in the rain like this!? And why aren't you home!?" (y/n) grumbles as she dries up the kids, them whining out about being able to do it themself before she goes to her bedroom to get spare clothes.
"It's about Heather."
"Something happened to her!" Max and Eleven yell out as (y/n) comes back, handing the girls dry clothes to change into and shoving them into separate bathrooms.
"We know. She missed work today and I had to take her shift." Billy rolls his eyes, watching (y/n) mother the girls and tossing their clothes in the wash before bundling them up in blankets on the couch to keep them warm.
"It's not that!"
"There was blood, and screaming."
"What?" (y/n) and Billy were both confused, Eleven pulling out a bloody whistle and a red aid kit.
"Where did you get those? They belong to Heather." Billy narrows his eyes at the girl, worried about the blood.
"We found them on the side of the road when we were cycling to Mikes." Max explains and the two adults look at each other.
"That one deserted road through the forest right? That has this abandoned shed looking factory on the side of the road?" The little girls nod at Billy's question and the colour drains from the couple's faces.
"Ok, explain from the beginning." (y/n) asks and the girls go to explain everything. How they were cycling to Mike's place for El to dump his stuff back to him since they were broken up but saw Heather's stuff on the side of the road. They went to the pool to ask what happened to her and Max and Eleven tried to find her with a photo. Eleven explained that she saw a red door and a mailbox, Heather screaming and being dragged down into the water.
"You have powers!?" Billy was behind with the story about Eleven having powers and (y/n) quickly clears him up about her story from what Mike told her. "Well, shit..."
"Did you go to the house?" the girls nod.
"We saw her." Eleven says
"And?"
"And she looked suspiciously fine. Except there was a guy there."
"A guy?"
"Yeah, he looks like you (y/n)." Max says and the older girl goes rigid, her body going cold.
"(y/n)-" she gets up as Billy calls for her, going to her shelf in her room and taking out one of the boxes from there.
"Was this him?" she says as she takes out a photo, pointing out to the guy in the photo and showing it to the girls sitting on her couch.
"It's him!" Eleven exclaims and Max narrows her eyes at (y/n).
"Why do you have a photo of him?"
"That's my brother... My younger brother..."
"You have a brother!?"
