(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Why is everyone staring at me?" (y/n) mumbles out, creeped out by everyone in the halls whispering to each other while looking at her as she walked with Nancy, Steve and Jonathan.

"Everyone knows about the fight from Tina's party." Steve says.

"There was a fight?" Jonathan and Nancy asked in confusion. Obviously one was late to the party and the other was drunk out of her mind.

"A fight between Billy and a guy that was touching me inappropriately." (y/n) mutters out and the three musketeers grew furious.

"Who!?" Nancy seethes out and (y/n) shakes her head.

"I don't know who. Didn't get a good look at him but you might be able to tell who it is cause Billy beat him into a pulp."

"Hargrove's an ass but at least he has the decency to defend a girl." Steve mumbles out. The 4 soon said goodbyes to each other and split apart to head to their lockers to put away their stuff and grab the ones they need for the next few classes.

Billy was looking past a girl's shoulder that was sighing out as he kissed her neck, eyes landing on (y/n) and his grip on the girl tightened in anger. His eyes flickered between (y/n) and Steve and bit down on the girl as she moaned out, Billy letting her go as she stumbled back with a flustered face.

"I'll see you around handsome." the girl swoons before walking off and Billy ignores her, waiting for the bell to ring or for the chance to talk to (y/n). He didn't want to draw any more attention to both of them already, didn't want to start up stupid gossip that was untrue. Billy took out a cigarette to smoke as he pushed his sunnies up to inconspicuously watch (y/n), disappointed that she wasn't dressed up like she was at the party.

(y/n) sighs in annoyance as she heard the whispers around her from the girls that glared at her with so much hate. "Did you hear, Billy fought a guy for her."

"Her, no way!"

"Yeah isn't he so sexy fighting for a girl? Imagine if he fought for me!"

"No way he'd fight for you! He would fight for me!" the girls start bickering and (y/n) rolls her eyes, closing her locker and walking away to homeroom. She passed by a random classroom, her yelp muffled by a hand around her mouth as she was pulled into it, the door on her back locked with Billy in front of her.

"Billy! What was that for!?" She hissed lowly as he signalled her to be quiet.

"What's going on with you and Harrington!?" Billy seethes out, reminding himself why he was mad at (y/n) and not how she made him feel warm.

"What the fuck are you on about? We're going to be late!" (y/n) went to open the door but Billy slammed his hand against it, keeping her backed against the door as he leaned over her. "Billy-"

"-why were you in his car yesterday?"

"What?"

"His car. You were in his car, the two of you only." Billy drove around to Nancy's place yesterday to talk to (y/n), to see if her cheek was ok. But when he drove down the road, he saw Harrington's car with him and her together.

"The guy was having issues." Billy raised a brow at this. "Emotional issues dumbass. It had something to do with the Halloween party but I ain't saying shit. It's his problem to fix now." Billy steps back, nodding.

"Is that it?"

"Yes, that's it! Now imma go cause I care about being late for homeroom." (y/n) slinked out of the classroom and into the empty hallway with Billy walking beside her. "Why were you lurking around Nancy's place?" Billy clears his throat, looking away.

"I wanted to see if you needed me to pick you up."

"I took my car Billy." (y/n) chuckles. "But thanks for the offer." The two walked for a bit and Billy had the urge to ask another question.

"You call me Billy." (y/n) looked up at him with a raised eyebrow, wondering where he was going with the sentence.

"Yeah...? That's your name."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why do you call me by my name?" (y/n) now was very confused.

"How else am I supposed to call you? Not by your name? How else am I supposed to say hi or grab your attention?" Billy sighs out.

"No! Why do you call me by my first name and not by Hargrove like everyone else?"

"Is that what's bothering you!?" (y/n) snorts lightly but stops noticing Billy was serious. "Oh, you're not joking. Well, I call you by your name because I can. It's weird for me to call someone by their last name or even give them a nickname. First name basis is more comfortable for me." Billy slightly deflates, hoping it was for another reason. "Plus Billy is a cute name. It's one I've never heard back home. And I think I'm the only one you let calling you by your first name." (y/n) grins, realising only she was allowed to say Billy to his face whereas he would've pummeled a guy that directly mentioned him.

"So you really don't like pet names or nicknames?" Billy smirks, turning the conversation to tease (y/n) and she sighs in annoyance.

"Yes, I already tell you off about calling me princess."

"What should I call you then?"

"By my name-"

"-babe, honey, puddin' pie?"

"Stop! This is getting cringy!" (y/n) shudders as Billy continues listing dumb pet names.

"Pumpkin? Sweetie pie? Oh! What about snickerdoodle!?" he bursts out laughing at the disgust on (y/n)'s face.

"That's horrible!"

"I got another, how about darling?" Billy blinks in surprise as (y/n) blushes at the pet name. "You like that one huh?"

"No!"

"Don't lie!"

"Oh fuck off Hargrove!"

"No, no, no! You call me by my first name and not my fucking last name!" (y/n) grins mischievously seeing how annoyed Billy was that she called him Hargrove.

"I will if you drop it with the pet names Hargrove."

"Oh, is that a challenge darling?" Billy purrs back lowly, leaning down over (y/n) as she blushes again and he had to admit, he liked this flustered look on her.

"No! Just stop with the darling already!"

"I don't think I will." Billy smirks, standing up straight.

"Billy please-"

"-Ooo begging now are we? I'd love to hear more." Billy grins, holding (y/n)'s chin and she turns even more red.

"Oh fuck off!"

"Not a chance darling!" Billy chuckles as he walks off, not before looking over his shoulder. "If you want me to stop, come to the basketball game after school! I better see you there!" (y/n) fumes in embarrassment, looking around to see if anyone noticed what just happened and rushes to her homeroom, apologising to the teacher and sitting down in her seat next to Nancy.

"Where have you been?"

"Don't ask..." (y/n) mumbles, looking over to her side to see Billy lower his sunnies, grinning at her and she quickly faces the front to hide her red cheeks in her hoodie.

~~~~~~~~
"Ok, so this is the basketball game everyone was raving about..." (y/n) mutters out as she opened the doors to the gym, seeing a bunch of guys already playing. The student body-who was mainly girls-were watching with great interest at a very sweaty and very shirtless Billy.
Steve was up against Billy, him dribbling the ball as (y/n) went down to sit at the front bleachers with some water bottles in hand. Steve smiled when he saw (y/n) and she waved at him before he tried to run past Billy but he blocked him.
"Harrington, the used to be king of this school huh. Not anymore. Not when you turned bitch." Billy seethes, smirking. He was still mad, mad at Harrington being near (y/n).
"Hey, maybe you should just shut up and play the game." Steve grits out in annoyance.
(y/n) furrows her brow at the tension between the guys, Billy tripping Steve and stealing the ball from him before shooting it in the hoop with nothing but net. The boys on Billy's team cheer out, hi-fiving him but Billy just smirks at Harrington until his eyes drift over at (y/n) on the bleachers.
She actually came.
She waved at him and Billy grins in victory until the back gym doors opened to reveal Nancy. "Steve?" she called for him and he looks back, (y/n) too. They both looked at each other in concern and (y/n) waved Steve to go to Nancy. As the rocky couple walked outside, Billy walked over to (y/n), ignoring the squealing girls and sat next to her but she shifts away from him.
"Boi you're all sweaty. Distance please." Billy chuckles, taking the bottle from her as she passes it to him.
"I thought you might appreciate a view like this." (Y/n) rolls her eyes with a smile.
"I didn't come here to just see a bunch of guys shirtless. You said you would drop the pet name if I came here."
"Oh is that really all you came here for?" Billy mock pouts.
"That and maybe I was curious about your basketball skills."
"And?"
"I gotta say, you're good. Like really good." Billy felt warm from the compliment, grinning widely. "No go back out there and beat the other team! I think the girls here are gonna cook me alive with their glares if you stay here any longer." Billy chuckles and runs off, playing more fiercely just for (y/n).
