(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hello is there anyone in here?" (y/n) jumps as she hears someone knocking on the door, furrowing her brows from the familiarity of the voice.
"Nancy?" she calls out, looking down at Billy who sighs out and stands up.
"Can you open the door please!" she slurs out her words. (y/n) couldn't open the door since she was in here with Billy and she didn't want Nancy to think that something was going on.
"I can't-" Billy moves to open the door, pushing past Steve and Nancy who walks into the bathroom.
"What was Hargrove doing in here!?"
"Nancy, shit what happened?" (y/n) asks as the drunk girl grabs a damp cloth to try and get the punch off her costume but unfortunately it doesn't work.
"(y/n), did Hargrove do that to you!?" Steve growls lowly, noticing the cut on her cheek but she shakes her head.
"No. Some other guy did and Billy stopped him. Now can you please take Nancy home? She's not well."
"(y/n)-" she ignores Steve calling for her when she grabs her jacket and runs down the stairs, trying to find Billy. He wasn't in the right mind to drive or do anything really, scrambling outside to find him walking towards his car.
"Billy!" She runs across the road after making sure it was safe, him taking out another cigarette to smoke as he opened his door. "Wait, you shouldn't be driving!"
"Go back to your prissy friends (y/n) and leave me alone-"
"-no!" he narrows his eyes down at the girl in front of him. "You're not ok in this state, to be alone like this. And don't even think about driving." Billy sighs, leaning his head back and groaning.
"Fine." he gets in his car but doesn't start up the engine, simply sitting in his seat and smoking.
"Billy... are you ok?"
"Stupid question to ask considering the beatdown everyone just witnessed." (y/n) rolls her eyes at the sarcasm.
"Considering the other guy got turned into pulp, yeah but fuck him." Billy chuckles her remark. "I'm worried about you..." Billy tilts his head up to the sky to blow out smoke before looking at (y/n) who leaned against his car with her arms crossed. There was a commotion back at the house and both turned to look back to see Steve storm outside. "What...? Billy stay here, don't move." he snorts lightly as (y/n) runs off after Steve. "Steve? What happened? Where's Nancy?"
"Inside." he mutters out angrily, getting in his car.
"Steve-wait what happened? Come on man!?" (y/n) yells out as he simply drives off down the road, leaving her with no way of getting home. And what about Nancy?
"(y/n)?" she looks up and sees Jonathan helping a stumbling Nancy towards his car.
"Shit-what happened? Steve just drove off without saying anything. He was our way of getting home!"
"I don't know. I just saw him storm off. He didn't tell me anything and Nancy is clearly too drunk to tell us-"
"-Nancy!" (y/n) gasps in fright as her feet gives out beneath her but Jonathan quickly picks her up. "Take her home. She needs to be home." Jonathan nods, walking to his car and (y/n) opens the door to help him gently settle Nancy in a seat.
"What about you? How are you getting home?" (y/n) turns back to look at Billy from across the road with his head bowed.
"I'll find a way. I'll be fine." Jonathan nods hesitantly and gets in his car.
"Get home safe and make sure to call me tomorrow, let me know what happened."
"Yeah, I will Jonathan. Thanks for taking Nancy home." he waves goodbye as his car drives off and (y/n) walks back inside the house to grab some water bottles before heading back to Billy, getting in his car. "Here. I'm not letting you drive intoxicated." he chuckles lightly, taking the bottle and closing the door of his car before turning it on. Both Billy and (y/n) just sit in the car with the radio on, calming down from everything that just happened the past half hour.
Billy was about to ask (y/n) how her cheek was, turning to see that she had fallen asleep next to him. He sighs and turns the heater on when he notices her shivering, deciding it was enough of a break to drive home. It was a quiet drive besides the faint hum of the low music, the car stopping in front of Nancy's place and Billy turns to wake (y/n).
He carefully brushes his hand against her bruised cheek. "(y/n)... wake up..." she hums, opening her eyes and Billy feels warmth as she looks up at him.
"Where are we...?"
"That drunk girl's place."
"Nancy?" Billy nods and gets out of the car with (y/n), her stumbling on her feet as the alcohol only just hits her. She swats at Billy's hands, mumbling about how she can walk but he picks up.
"Clearly you can't." he sets her down in front of the door, about to knock on it but (y/n) hits his hand away.
"No."
"Then how-"
"-no." (y/n) grumbles as she searches her pocket, digging out the spare house keys and unlocks the Wheeler's house quietly. "Billy..." he stops before walking off, turning around to see (y/n) standing by the doorway and nervously rubbing her neck. "Thank you... for everything." He freezes when (y/n) wraps her arms around him to hug him, unsure of what to do as his arms hovered above her before lowering to wrap them around her.
He lets her go and takes a step back, instantly missing her warmth. "Goodnight (y/n)..."
"Goodnight Billy..." (y/n) waves as he walks away to his car. He hops inside, looking one last time over at the house to see her walk inside and close the door.
~~~~~~~~
"Shit... my head..." (y/n) groans out in annoyance as Nancy mumbles out about her head next to her, hiding beneath the blanket and covering her head with the pillow to ignore her and try to get some more sleep. "(y/n)?"
"I'm trying to sleep Nancy... please I'm so fucking tired..." (y/n) mumbles out and she receives silence in reply, hearing Nancy get up and go to the bathroom.
Great... I can't sleep...
(y/n) peeks out from the blanket, hissing lightly at how bright it was in the room and reaches out to check the time on the alarm clock. "2 pm... damn..." (y/n) rises up like the dead, sitting on the bed before getting up to freshen up.
"Look who's finally awake!" Karen snickers as she sets breakfast down in front of the exhausted girls, Nancy whining out from the major headache she was having.
"Thanks Karen..." (y/n) hums happily to drink her tea. "Nancy, do you remember what happened last night?" she asks the tired girl who just spaced out, needing to know if she remembered last night like (y/n) did.
"Not really? Why what happened?"
"A lot actually." (y/n) mumbles out, remembering the huge fight between Billy and some guy that was touching her and the fight between Nancy and Steve. "You must've drank too much to not remember anything..." (y/n) frowns lightly. The girls chatted for a bit until the Wheeler's house phone rang and (y/n) picked up the call.
"Wheelers residence."
"(y/n)?"
"Steve!?" (y/n) immediately whispers, hiding behind the wall from Nancy. "What happened? You ran off last night-"
"-I need to talk to you."
"Ok, we can talk-"
"-somewhere private. Can I pick you up in a couple of minutes?"
"Ok... sure...?" (y/n) mutters out, peering over the wall to see Nancy talking to her mum. "I'll see you in a bit then." both Steve and (y/n) said their goodbyes and (y/n) went to grab a hoodie to cover up her baggy shirt and track pants. "Nancy, I'm going out for a walk ok! I'll be back in a bit!"
"Ok!" Nancy yells out and (y/n) walks out of the house, taking a couple of steps down the street and waiting for Steve who arrived a couple of minutes later.
"Now, what did you want to talk about?" (y/n) asked as she got into Steves's car, him driving off down the road.
"Did Nancy tell you anything? Anything about last night?"
"About you two fighting? No. She doesn't remember anything from how much she was drinking. Steve, why are you asking? What happened last night?" He sighs and parks on the side of the road, leaning his head back.
"She doesn't love me..."
"What?" (y/n) was shocked. "That can't be right she-"
"-she told me last night. She muttered on about everything being bullshit and that she didn't love me."
"What exactly did she say, word for word." (y/n) lets Steve recount what happened last night, explaining how Nancy was drinking like crazy, arguing with him about being a teenager and killing Barbara, and not loving him apparently.
"I didn't know that Nancy was so hurt about Barbara-"
"-Steve, she told you over and over how she felt. I told her to communicate with you that she didn't want to pretend anymore and to help her lift her consciousness." (y/n) frowns that Steve didn't listen once to his girlfriend.
"What do I do (y/n)?" Steve genuinely looked upset about the fight with Nancy and she knew that he was a good guy, that he cared a lot for Nancy. She knew about his other short relationships with the girls in school but with Nancy, he was kinder, didn't care about his title and truly just loves her. (y/n) felt bad for both of them, trying to talk to Steve about what she thought would help but it was up to him to take action himself.
"Shit, I didn't mean to just pick you up and rant to you for over an hour."
"It's ok. It's better to talk to someone instead of just keeping it up. Also, what are friends for." (y/n) smiles at Steve and he relaxes, smiling back at her.
"Thank you (y/n)."
