(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The only reason I agreed to come out and spend time with you guys is cause I thought we were going to the library to study." (y/n) sighs out as Steve and Nancy hold one of her arms each to make sure she didn't run away as Jonathan just chuckles lowly at the scene.
"I swear, you study more than Nancy." Steve makes a disgusted face at the mention of studying.
"Cause I don't understand shit." he laughs at (y/n)'s reply, ruffling her hair.
"Just take a break today. There's no harm in that." Nancy says.
"Except I didn't do anything yesterday either." (y/n) groans out. "And I don't really need to buy anything."
"Well, I need new clothes." Nancy starts off.
"I need new jackets." Steve says and (y/n) turns to look at Jonathan for his reason for being at the mall. The both of them were more the introverts of the group.
"I need more vinyls." (y/n) groans out in defeat.
"Fine. I'll join you. Now can you let me go please." Nancy and Steve let (y/n) go. "So where are we going first?"
"Oh! There's a new store in the food court." Steve exclaims.
"We can check that out but after shopping." Nancy replies.
"Yeah, better to not be carrying food around while we try things on. Plus we gotta build our appetites." (y/n) says and Steve drapes his arm around her shoulder.
"And this is why I like you (y/n)." The group goes off to different shops in the mall, mainly (y/n) just following them around as they tried on whatever caught their eye. (y/n) sifted through racks of clothes, nothing really catching her interest. She wasn't about to spend a large number of money like Steve who wanted to buy everything in sight.
(y/n) moved towards the back of the shop where the dresses were, seeing how nice some of them were but nothing she was comfortable wearing. Until there was one that poked out from a rack that had a different array of clothes. It was an off-shoulder blue floral dress that just reached her knees.
It was a pretty dress and the style was definitely a little older compared to the fashion nowadays. Honestly, it looked better than most of the dresses the ladies wore around town. (y/n) wanted to try it on but wanted to try Nancy first to get a second opinion, so she walked around the shop holding the dress and searched for her.
"Nancy?" (y/n) calls out, trying to find the girl around the mall until she found her with the guys that came back. "Finally."
"Oh my god, that dress is beautiful (y/n)!" Nancy gasps as she turns around to see her walk up to the group holding a dress.
"(y/n)... in a dress!?" Steve exclaims, a mischievous look on his face. "This I need to see!"
"I'm just trying it on. It's not like I'm gonna buy it."
"Yes but it's a once in a lifetime chance for me to see you in a dress!" Steve whines out in pain as Nancy elbows his stomach to shut him up.
"Steve shut up. You two go and we'll get some food." Jonathan suggests and takes Steve as Nancy takes (y/n) to the dressing room.
"But seriously, that dress is lovely. You should get it if you like it."
"I really do but I don't really have a reason to get a dress."
"So what, you don't need a reason to wear it. Just wear it whenever you feel like it." (y/n) chuckles lightly, going into a dressing room.
"Ok, stay here and don't go anywhere."
"Alright, go try it on!" Nancy gently pushes (y/n) into the room and she laughs, locking the door to change into the dress.
Billy walked into the mall clad in his tight jeans, unbuttoned shirt and sunglasses as he smoked his cigarette. Almost all the girls that were in his. vicinity stopped to stare, groups giggling together and swooning from this golden-haired, tan-skinned hottie as he lowered his sunnies to wink at them. He ignored Max who ran off for the arcade since he had to drop her here before meeting up with a date with a girl he didn't even know.
He met up with the girl who he didn't even know the name of, following her around the mall and waiting for the end to just take her in the back of his car. That is and the only goal but this girl was pushing it by trying to be lovey-dovey. Billy sighs out in annoyance as the girl he was with kept asking his opinion on some dresses, like he could give a fuck. He let her go to change and sat down on a nearby couch, leaning back with his arms on the back as he blew smoke above him.
Billy hears a door open and expects it to be the girl he was with but when he looks up, he sees someone else he wasn't expecting to see. "(y/n)..." he breathes out, sitting up straight to see her shyly walk out of the changerooms in a dress. He didn't expect to see her at the mall, he saw the note she left saying she would be at the library but now he was glad to see her. Billy was amused but also in awe to see her in a dress, something other than her denim jeans and baggy shirts. It was obvious (y/n) didn't see Billy as she nervously smoothed out the fabric on the dress, walking over to a mirror to check herself out.
Billy was so focused on (y/n) that he doesn't hear his date calling for him, watching as Nancy complimented (y/n) on how she looked in the dress. His breath hitches as Nancy pulls out (y/n)'s hair tie after she tried to stop her, her hair falling over her shoulders. He had to admit, she looked so much better than most of the girls here in this shit town.
"You look amazing (y/n)." Billy hears Nancy say and he agrees.
"I don't know..." Billy frowns as he sees (y/n) rub her arms.
"It's a beautiful dress and you look wonderful in it. If you don't want to get it that's ok but I really think you look pretty in it." Nancy says before saying that she had to go meet up with the others to help them with the food and (y/n) lets her go.
"Billy!"
"Fucking what?" he growls out and the girl he was with jumps back.
"Uh, should I get this dress?" It was a hideous red dress with too much poof and layers but Billy just nods.
"Yeah, yeah whatever." The girl smiles and quickly runs off to buy it as Billy turns back to look at (y/n), his annoyance disappearing when he notices her shy smile. He wanted to see her smile a lot more. Billy sees (y/n)'s smile disappear when she looks down at her arms in the mirror, rubbing them gently.
"I guess I can get the dress... but I can't wear it until the lines fade away." (y/n) mumbles out as she looks in the mirror, turning around in front of it. Billy chuckles lightly as (y/n)'s eyes widen when her hands slip through the fabric of the dress to find that it has pockets, squealing happily about it. "Pockets!?"
~~~~~~~~
(y/n) hummed to the music in her as she folded her clothes on her bed, having picked them off the clothesline outside once they were dry. She set them aside, keeping Billy's clothes separate as she put hers away in her wardrobe. She pauses as she sees the dress she eventually bought from the mall, wondering when she would end up wearing it. (y/n) suddenly hears something hitting against her window and she looks over to see tiny pebbles hit against the glass, someone calling her name.
She walks over and looks out the window to see Billy below her, opening the window. "Billy?" she peeks her head out, confused. "What are you doing?"
"You said I could knock on you window when I needed space. So that's what I'm doing."
"You can go through my front door, you know that right."
"Can I come up or not?"
"Yeah yeah." Billy climbs the tree that was next to him, using the highest branch to climb through (y/n)'s window. "Do you want anything? Something to drink, something to eat?" (y/n) turns around to see Billy laying down on her bed casually, hands behind his head. "Shoes off! Not on my bed!" he rolls his eyes and takes his shoes off, kicking them to the side. "If your shoes have dirt on them, imma kill you."
"You wouldn't even hurt a fly princess." Billy smirks and (y/n) raises a brow at her.
"Oh that's where you are so wrong Billy." he chuckles as she goes back to folding her clothes quickly and putting them away in her wardrobe while Billy picked up a random book to read, bored out of his mind. "What happened? Why are you here?" (y/n) asks and Billy grinds his jaw. "If you don't want to tell me that's fine." she sits on her bed next to Billy, passing him his clothes she washed for him.
"Thanks... It's Neil... Threw a fucking fit about getting the wrong groceries and the fact that I used his fucking toolbox."
"You're fucking joking right!?" (y/n) gasps out. "For the smallest shit!? Is this guys fucking mental!? Food is food and its not like you damaged his tools right. He's so fucked in the head!"
"Calm down princess. As much as I like your feisty side, I came here to avoid the screaming match."
"Well, stay here for as long as you want. I got a spare bedroom too if you want to sleep in there." Billy leans on his side to face (y/n), a smirk on his face.
"Are you inviting me to stay the night princess?"
"1. stop calling me princess, it's unoriginal and worse than babe and 2. you are sleeping in a separate room from me." (y/n) shakes her head at Billy's flirting but he tsks before sitting back.
"You're just denying it (y/n)."
"I ain't denying shit. Now go put your shoes downstairs on the mat! I can see dirt on my carpet!"
